  • I’m excited to say I’ve finished and signed the 16 x 20 acrylic on canvas painting of my lovely wife Leah. It’s taken many hours of layers, painted in the sfumato acrylic glazing technique, and I’ve enjoyed the process!
This painting was done as a demonstration for my step-by-step painting class, “Paint an Amazing Acrylic Portrait.” The lessons are nearly finished and you can take them at your own pace.
If you’re interested in the class, I’ll be posting a link for enrollment soon.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on my portrait in the comments. Any questions are welcome too!
    Blessings,
    Matt

Thank you Matt for the class! I'm going to start a new painting tomorrow using this technique. Do you have brief notes on each stage or step? For instance, if I remember correctly the canvas is prepared with 1 cup gesso and a "few squirts"of matte medium. Then to "reseal the image, equal parts of matte medium and water." If you can refer me to bullet point notes that would be fantastic and appreciated. I don't want to forget a step. :)

You’re very welcome! I have notes for most of the stages. But not all. I’ll need to add more. In most of the sections, there are written lessons with several points and then demonstrations. Please leave me feedback in the class as well on things you’d like to see. Thanks!
