I'd like to show you how to slow down a bit, take your time, and paint your acrylic portrait layer by layer, using the acrylic glazing technique. In this master class lesson #4, I demonstrate how to continue darkening your darkest values on the face and background, and then work in some warmer glazes to set up the skin tones on her face.

Where do I go next finished this lesson
I'm loving these videos. Other than the gloss, what's the difference between matte medium and glazing medium? I have used Liquitex glazing medium and don't like the high gloss; I'm wondering why people buy glazing medium at all.
I've just bought glazing medium for a portrait I've done..not used it yet. Doing research.... I'm assuming it gives a transparent look? So brings out all the inner colours..
And I'm assuming the matt doesn't give any reflective tones..so not shiny
@@ajf369 When I used Liquitex glazing medium on part of a painting, the gloss on those brush strokes stood out glaringly. I solved the problem by spraying the whole thing with varnish when I was done. That evened out the gloss.

So you use the matt medium to mix your colours too? Would you still add white if you need to lighten or using the medium enough?
Hi Amanda, you actually use white and matte medium to lighten up areas. It’s both. When beginning, I don’t use white. I reserve that for the latter part of the process. You will see as you follow along in my videos. Blessings to you!
