Happy New Year! I hope 2023 brings you all joy and peace.
December 18th, 2022 marked TEN YEARS since I created this channel.. wild. To thank those who have been with me since the beginning, I thought I should upload a video dedicated to my original OTP. I picked a song from a classic album that was released while the show was still airing. I don't like the final result that much compared to my others, but whatever lol.
I also want to do a special shout-out to “PerfectlyPanda” on Tumblr, whose amazing manips really gave me the inspiraton and drive to finish this!
I remember so clearly watching 'The Ember Island Players' on TV at my grandparents house early one Saturday morning (it was early 2009 so they were playing reruns at this point), and using my Nokia to connect to the internet looking for fanart. Instead, my 12 year old self found fanfiction.net... and the rest is history, hahaha.
Anyway - the concept for this one was basically, what if Z became obsessed with finding 'the last waterbender' / K, instead of A? (If you can't tell, I'm trying to avoid this one getting taken down so please avoid using the show name in comments!)
I did have a channel before this one but I only really used it for favouriting videos, I didn't properly start dabbling in editing and uploading works until I was 15.

I love the canon couples, but I also love AU’s like this that explore what if scenarios and this was a really interesting one. The clips and voiceovers matched perfectly.
The amount of “what ifs” for them lawd.. there are so many narrative details that make sense to me! Even beyond the obvious things like their shared grief over their mothers, June making fun of Zuko over his “girlfriend” and the “Ember Island Players” episode, there are so many small things, like:
1. The cave in Ba Sing Se mirroring the crystals in the cave of two lovers and describing two lovers on opposing sides
2. The cave of two lovers episode including Zuko’s arc with Song, where he doesn’t allow her to touch his scar (unlike Katara later in the season)
3. The fact that lightning is something Iroh created from observing waterbending forms, and it’s what Zuko eventually saves Katara’s life from
4. Visual cues like in “the library” where it pans from Katara’s struggle directly through to Zuko
5. Katara opening up to Jet and Haru about her mother, and doing the same with Zuko
6. Mai’s reaction to Zuko’s fears in “the awakening” vs. Katara’s conversation with him in “Sozin’s Comet Pt.2”
7. The Painted Lady and The Blue Spirit, both masquerade as spirits
8. The fortune teller telling Katara that she will end up with a “very powerful bender” which could just as easily apply to Zuko
Like I could go on and on 😭
I just love AUs like this! Everything from the manips to the story to the voiceovers is just purely epic and wonderful
