9 years ago when Kataang officially became a canon ship, they thought Zutara would die out. Well, here we are. Almost 9 years from the end of the show and work like this is still being made. Beautiful art, AMVs, fanfic and so on. It feels amazing actually to be apart of this community. I don't want to sound generic and say "ZUTARA4LIFE

fuck no. In some alternate timeline, Zutara became a canon thing or will become a canon thing. The fact that fiction stems from the imagination and that all things are possible only means that Kataang was what we got to see in the show, but Zutara exists in the show's different timelines and we just never got to see it happen. It's kind of like how the Star Wars comics were originally considered canon and then later retconed and considered an alternate universe when Disney bought the franchise. Aaron Ehasz invisioned Zutara and joked about someone buying the rights and re-hiring him to retcon the comics and Korra so he could write his vision of a season 4 fpr the show, and also, the guy in charge of the artwork on the show actually drew the two together as adults becaise he liked the idea of them being together. I think anything that can exist already does exist, meaning what is fiction to us is reality to someone else and vice versa. I'm a writer myself, and I like to think that writer's use imagination which is actually a 5th dimensional tool that transcends space and time to tap into other realities which would be impossible to take place here in our reality with our own laws of physics and the way our world has evolved, and if writers have many ideas or make changes, they are merely glimpsing into those different worlds and timelines. It's deep and far out, I know lol, but I like to think of it that way. So maybe the Avatar world is real in a completely separate dimension, which would mean Zutara is legit real in one of those timelines, and our culture and way of life might be a writer's imagination in another dimension. I'm going to stop philosophising now.
Omg this ship is my life! I mean, originally I had shipped Katara with Aang at first, but then Zuko kept making it so freaking hard for me to. After awhile of fighting it I gave up my inner battle because who am I to fight what I've fallen in love with, right? 😆 I think it's because I felt Zuko and Katara had more or a connection in how they spoke to each other. Plus, alot of the time it felt like Katara treated Aang more like a child then a potential boyfriend which really bothered me. Idk, that's how I remembered it anyway. It's been a long time since I've watched this show so my memory is a bit foggy on all the details.
HINATALAWLIET ThisAnimeFreak Yeah I think they just had such a balanced relationship by the end, they were like the mum and dad of the group. My favourite scene between them is actually in sozin's comet part 2, when Zuko is scared to face his Uncle and Katara notices and sits down with him to reassure him. It's such a contrast with how Mei treats his fears about returning to the fire nation in 3x01. There are a lot of reasons they would have been awesome, I'll be forever disappointed that they forced Kataang instead because you're right there was just no chemistry. Oh well, we have our imaginations! I've read better fanfics than the source material anyway haha.
I agree. I felt the same for RobRae in the original Teen Titans. I mean, I originally shipped the canon ones but why do most non-canon pairings always have to be the one with the deepest connection?! Also, before I even watch Avatar, I thought Katara and Aang had a sibling kind of chemistry since Katara continously seemed like an elder sister to her😂. It was kinda weird exacly because at that age, I didn't even know how to ship platonically and I even CONFUSED myself with shipping James and Sofia from Sofia the First😆 yet I saw Kataang as a sibling relationship as my first impression😂😂

I was introduced to AtLA as a kid, and one of the episodes I watched was the one with the cave scene, which made me ship Kataang. Years later when I got back into AtLA as a teen, and binged all the episodes (I hadn't seen all of them as a kid), I realized Zutara is actually the exact kind of ship I liked. It's so my type. xD So I think if I'd been introduced to AtLA as a teen, I would've been a pretty hardcore Zutara shipper. IT'S MY GUILTY PLEASURE SHIP Anyway, LOVE THIS!! i've got to be honest here i like all ships, you know? (i'll just be talking about kataand and zutara right now tho) kataang makes sense and is perfect because their relationship was built off friendship and trust and they belong together. but zutara makes sense too because they've got chemistry, and they just work. i personally think that they'd need more seasons to get together without it feeling rushed tho. to me, kataang is the healthy relationship i love and it's one that we all need. but zutara is the ship i am a sucker for and love equally as much as kataang i do think people get a little too obsessed with ships tho. everyone picks fights and that makes shipping not as fun. i mean the show is over. this does not mean stop loving it or the ships or anything, but just calm down a tiny bit. live your life and respect every other shipper. don't wreck shipping for them that being said i respect all ships and all shippers! every shipper belongs to the ATLA fandom, and i don't think we should hate on people who are in the same family as us (i say family because i think we all know that the ATLA fandom has become a home for us)
