I have to say I preordered this figure from day one but wasn’t that excited about it until I got it in hand. This figure definitely defied my expectations in the best way possible! Thank you Dan for your review and for reminding me just how much I love this figure! 👏👏👏
Personally this is my definitive Wolverine costume. Claws could use a touch of silver but still looks good. Hasbro really needs to make all X-men in this same yellow paint/plastic.
I don't mind that he's a little taller because that's the source material. I do mind the giant, disproportionate arms. If you look carefully, they don't even line up with the shoulders in terms of depth.
Does he have more articulation? or just different plus this one doesn't have boot rotation so surely he's got a bit less. Don't get me wrong he looks great and I like this torso articulation but the omitting the boot rotation and scale on this and warbird are frustrating.
Are the colors on this fig a bit brighter than in most of the comic panels where it appears? Seems like the old Toybiz one, if I remember correctly, had the darker yellow and a more muted (or whatever you want to call it) blue, which seemed closer to the source material.
Yup, the colors were a shade more muted than what it looks like here. This looks like Sunshine yellow and royal blue, versus a flat maize and cobalt blue.
What a gloss over the limited articulation in the neck and the critical miss of not having a boot swivel in this line...there's some new articulation, but there's some head scratching thinking here....also the ball joint in the torso and no waist swivel breaks the sculpt whenever posing...
This will be displayed as my definitive comic book Wolverine but he also looks great enough to pass as the live-action version from Deadpool & Wolverine until an actual movie figure is made which probably won't be until next year or so. I think the yellow and blue paint deco pop without being too bright like the previous Wolverine figure with the burning claws and articulation is very smooth. Lack of boot swivel is a major gripe but at least it's compensated with additional hands for various action poses.
The XMC Colossus is actually closest to the proper Astonishing Colossus. Not surprised if you don’t have him, as it was one of the final ToyBiz releases and VHTF. the main difference is the shoulder flares. Speaking of flares, the Astonishing Wolvie mask by Cassidy (Quitely?) is more subdued than what is shown here. There is no “wingtip” flare at the end of the points. Other than that, this just seems more *blue* than what else I remember about this look? Then again, the first version we got from TB, the infamous “split belt” waist joint Wolvie, I repainted into his tan/brown colors with black tiger stripes. It worked for me. Now we wait for DP&W figures…. (I’ve seen the Logan at Target a couple times, but rarely stocking has left collectors ravenous for product. 🙄🤬)
Can you swap the hands of this new wolverine with the apocalypse wave tiger stripe wolverine body? Just curious if we can give the tiger stripe wolvy apoc wave a little bit upgraded claws/hands 😅😅
Actually the VHS/97 head don’t look to scale with this. You got it wrong and the other way around. Another reviewer showed this. This figure is perfect as it is.
His Love Triangle/Apoc Wave/Bone Breaker etc Buck still has better musculature. He looks too flat in the arms and legs, they may be “big”, but not detailed and jacked looking.
Btw that head sculpt is basically the 1st appearance Wolverine from the Hulk 2 Pack Im posting this during the 1st 2 minutes of the video just in case you mention it! Also not sure i like the slightly taller Wolverine..he should ALWAYS be short

It’s hard to compare the cowls because he always looks better when he looks angry, vs the boring one we got with 97 Wolvie

Now I know why the body looks weird. The head is too small. Put on the VHS or 97 head, and he's good.
