  • Just how safe is the water in your RV? From dirty campground water supplies and old, rusty faucets to stagnant water that gets very hot in RV tanks, there’s growing concern about contaminated water that can make you sick. In the interview of the week segment, I interviewed John Sztykiel, the retired CEO of Spartan Motors, who has come up with a unique water purification system that works extremely well on RVs.
You can learn more about the filter and John’s effort to bring clean water to the developing world on his NoDirtyWater.com website. His RV filter will be available through RV dealers or his website.

Does the ozone filtration system remove chlorine and fluoride, too? I suspect it's primarily for bacteria removal, so it would be necessary to add something like a Berkey gravity fed filtration system to do the final "cleaning" of drinking water while traveling on the road.

Christina Elliott , we filter all of our drinking water with the Travel Berkey or our GO-Berkey filter. We use the Berkey filters in our Home and also in our Farm Cabin.

His website is not complete. The "Buy Now" button goes to the site theme vendor and not anything about the product. Most of it is missing images and info. They are still VERY new with this and setting up things.

TO ALL THOSE INQUIRING FOR MORE DETAILS: I was assured by John that all the details and pricing info would be on his nodirtywater.com website. As of the evening of July 25, they are not. I also notified him this morning after the video went live that there were lots of questions and much interest in the video and that he or someone in his company should answer those questions here. That has not happened. So, my advice is to write him directly at john@created2c.com. I apologize that I relied on the information he provided that all details would be on his website.

Hi guys from 🇨🇦. I test products including filtration systems for air and water. I understand the chemistry of ozone for various applications but have not endorsed this type of system unless there is technical standards info as well as hard data. Health Canada has similar concerns about efficacy of ozone in water treatment systems. I agree that campground water supply can be questionable...maybe moreso in the U.S. as Canada requires routine water testing through their provincial Health departments. Will be happy to test and evaluate this product when it is ready to do so. Do we know approx the retail cost of the unit?

I run a spun cartridge sediment filter to catch "the big stuff", then a ceramic filter that eliminates all but maybe a couple of virus's. No electricity needed. No sure an "ozone-ator" does anything for heavy metals, etc. That 5 micron carbon filter isn't that effective. Lots better options out there - research water filters before jumping!

I did not add an internal water tank to my new teardrop trailer because I wanted to eliminate the issue of bad tasting water from the tank, cleaning and the winterizing process. I find it easy to fill an insulated jug with filtered water from home.

It looks to me to be the best in-line water filter I've seen yet. The ozone is the key. water filters can hold bacteria on both sides of the filter. The ozone may resolve that. At home and away I use the Berkey gravity feed system. I would never drink out of the taps in an RV but with this new system, I would. The continuos one amp draw could add up, so I would like to turn it off at night.

    • @billredding2000
      @billredding2000 6 лет назад

It only runs when the water pump runs, so it's not running constantly. The pump isn't on that often, so it hardly uses much power to "add up" over time. In fact, power use would be pretty insignificant I'd guess, especially if you have a decent solar array and at least 2 AGM deep-cycle batteries, or, at least 1 of the new lithium batteries. So no need to turn it off at night.
But as another poster here said, some people don't use their RV's fresh water tank for drinking -- they use bottled water only. The tank water is used for flushing the toilet and washing/cleaning/showering. However, if this device ALSO keeps the tank sanitized, then that'd be a plus even for those other uses, and in an emergency (while out boon-docking for example, staying out there longer than expected) you COULD drink the water in the tank with no worries.
If this device is as good as it sounds, then I'd want one on my Class B Winnebago Revel 4x4 (or Paseo 48P) -- hope by then (in 2-3 years, when I'm ready to buy) RV makers are adding these devices at the factory as standard, or as an option.

I feel like this, and some other recent vids, sure seem like sales pitches. We can't even watch to the end. We liked the older vids where you compared products and some times said they were no good. Hope this isn't a trend

One of the best You Tube videos ever made. This should be translated into every language in the audio and comments section. Ideally, every kitchen and bathroom should have this device for cleaner water. July 27, 2018

So what's the difference between this filter system and the one already intalled on class A, C. Very confusing and shocking knowing the Class B manfacturers don't have anything in their vehicles for clean and safe water.

I use double filtration... one filter at the hose and the internal in my RV. Never experienced any sickness. Most of the time we drink bottle water and the water that comes in is pretty much for dishes and showers. But I am always listening to the experiences RVers that are out there everyday doing the things I am not doing. I like to learn from others mistakes. :-)

Hello Mike. Thank you for the much needed information. I'm currently working on my whole water system. Started out with a small leak by my water pump filter. Today I drained my fresh water tank to repair yet another leak. The idea of putting that filter by the kitchen faucet Is great for me I have room under there anyway. Well bye for now and be safe in your journeys.

This is a really silly question and totally off-topic, but what is the name of the opening theme song? I know I’ve heard it before probably sometime in the 70s… It’s driving me crazy that I can’t think of the name of it. Thank you and enjoy all your great hints and tips

I would have thought everyone already knew this.i have made wells mostly for homes. You make a well an let it set for days .you will need to pump it off an bring fresh water into it.if you dig a new well you have to pump it off for two days before use.filters are good but they will not clean all things from water. Clean water has to be treated. Go to a camp site say that has not been used it needs to be pumped off before use I would have thought there would be regulations on this. If you go to a camp site an there's always someone there using water there nothing wrong with water. An your water tanks on your van needs cleaning occasionally even with a filter.
