Rampage knocking out silva with a left hook then landing multiple punches on his unconscious body while the referee struggles to pull him off and joe rogan saying revenge is sweet is also iconic.
I met Wanderlei in Los Angeles back in 2006 for a PRIDE promo. Let me tell you guys, Wanderlei is one of the nicest men I have ever met. He is very polite and affectionate. It makes me sad to see people make fun of him. He is a good guy for real.
He is already brain damage :( Google "Wanderlei Silva dano cerebral" and translate de page, its in portugueses He said he already has 8 out of 10 issues caused by brain damage
Thats why the cauliflower face... Also one of the nicest guys... Met him at pride in vegas , the night he called out Chuck...that was Coleman vs Fedor... I was talking to Mark when some jackass behind me asks Mark why he brought his kids , and Coleman started coming over the rail... It was beautiful , I stepped aside and the dude ran... Great night
It was the time where the real MMA heroes were created. The fighters fought with their hearts and didn't have to rely on fake drama to sell tickets or PPV.
Fun fact, he joined Chuteboxe in Curitiba because he think himself as being too ugly and had a low self steem , so he decided to get in shape so improve his chances with the ladies, there he discovered Muay Thai and found a way to vent off his frustration. Maurício Shogun Rua, also from Curitiba, was a quite successful model before joining Chuteboxe and found his true self in fighting. Talk about polar opposites
Prime Wanderlei pumped full of steroids was the scariest fighter of all time, especially with limited rules where he was allowed to punt your head off your shoulders.
Mark Kerr was a physical beast, but had a very weak mentality. I would rather fight Kerr than someone like Khabib. Khabib doesn't get tired and makes even the elite athletes look like they barely trained. He's like a smaller Fedor/Velasquez, but with limitless cardio and even better technique.
Wanderlei is such a nice humble guy. It's a scary thing, knowing he could easily kill you, but the way he is with his fans and regular people, it's like he wouldn't harm a fly.
Wanderlei in his prime before his chin went was just a savage. The image of him slamming his knee into Rampages head and him just slumping through the ropes was terrifying.
Say what you want about Wanderlei. He is a true fearless and skilled fighter. When he lost many fights in the UFC, he wasn't in his prime anymore, and he wasn't too skilled in ground work. There are many fighters that could face Wanderlei. But he is definitely one of the best brawlers ever and one of the best fighters to watch.
The way Wanderlei stares down his opponent up close is intimidating to say the least, Conor has an extremely dominant stare down too, as he steps in and really looks at his opponents eyes and face followed by words of encouragement.
It's crazy to see how brazilians thrive in almost every sport. Its a country where no funds are destined to sports at all, we have no gyms, no fields, no courts. Our universities don't have any teams or athletic programs, most of professionals come out of poor neighboorhoods with no structure at all. You can often find out that a professional soccer player didn't even have shoes early on, they played bare footed. Fighters who didn't have any gloves, only a punching bag and a partner to beat his ass up. The cheapest the sport, the best they get. When you find a brazilian who made it in sports, take your fucking hat off, specially if you are american with all those fancy training facilities, government provided assistance and all sort of doctors to help fix you up.
silva and rampage discredited themselves to newer audiences when they fought old and over the hill in their fighting career, at their prime they were beast!
Cro cop was already in pride for a while when this fight happened, this was the fight right before Dan Henderson ko'd Wanderlei. This was the beginning of his downwards spiral in his career.
Wanderlei and Cro Cop fought twice, with the second fight being the one where Cro Cop KO'd Wand. They fought before at "Pride: Armed and Ready" (number 20 in the series if I remember,) and to be fair if that fight could have gone to the judge Wanderlei could have won easy.
1st fight he fought at pride middle weight 2nd fight he came in heavier than cro cop and was slow lethargic and in no fight condition and got slept first fight he was at his fighting weight and only reason he never got the decision was to save face for both promotion's
Crocop at his pride was the second greatest mma ever in my opinion right next to Fedor. Igor vovchanchyn and Marco ruas are the most underated fighters ever though, they could be top 5 for what they were
Uhhh Joe? Kevin Randleman stared him down and had the best knockout in 2004 (short notice). Props to Wanderlei, he’s of the same warrior cloth. RIP to the greatest of all time; my father “The Monster”
Wanderlei reached a level of scary at one point in his career that no one has reached. Francis Ngannou might be a marvel of human strength and fitness. Brock Lesnar might be the highest level athlete you can find on this earth, but neither of them are even close to the scariness of Wanderlei.
Wanderlei is a beast and he shouldnt have fighted in heavyweight when he was a light heavy and yes i know he played light heavy. Am i right that wanderlei said he got 1million dollars to fight Quinton Jackson. And i think that UFC wasent his game. And i think Pride was better because i loved the old style rules and stuff. My Opinion
All the shootbox fighters would have real fights instead of sparring in the gym . That’s why they all have been getting knocked out recently all the head trauma is unreal . A documentary or movie really needs to be made on those guys ! The amount of times wand and shogun have suffered concussions in the gym must be almost in triple digits .
when he fought wanderlei the first Time the rules estipulated that if the fight goes to desicion it would end up in a draw. Anyone who watched that fight knows wanderlei crearly won that fight.
Pride was as good as anything goes except eye pokes and groin strikes. The standard of fighter back then would beat the shit out of todays fighters. Imagine telling McGregor he would have to fight 3 times in a night. He struggles with 3 rounds. Different fighters, different men
"Wanderlai looked like he was about to kill someone.
And Crocop looked like he just did."

Damn I still remember this.
Duuuude...you fucking nailed it!!!
Awesome comment!
great comment that i already saw somewhere and I'm glad you didn't take credit for it, respect man
Whoever put that will have it on his grave
Wanderlei KO’ing Rampage and him going through the ropes is iconic
@barbara gill Never failed
He’s thinking of Overreem
Gdamn casuals😂😂
To this day, that KO is one of the most violent things IV seen in combat sports. Silva was a berserker back in the day. Animal.
Rampage knocking out silva with a left hook then landing multiple punches on his unconscious body while the referee struggles to pull him off and joe rogan saying revenge is sweet is also iconic.
Yeh Pride Wandy was a brutal fighter.
"Wanderlei Silva is the only fighter with cauliflower face" - Chael "the goat" Sonnen.
Peeped the SB saga pic💔💓
Uncle chael !!!
Uncle Chael P sonnen, never lost a round
Meme King woosh
Zack Lance you’re right because he loss whole fights
The fighter with the fiercest prefight staredown is Fedor. The is nothing more badass than looking bored when you step into the ring.
love that 😁
Nah TR Alistair 10 years ago K1
No way... Mirko has such a dead stare... looks right through you.
The word to describe Fedor is "Stoic."
Hands down Cro Cop makes people shit themselves with one look
'Wanderlei Silva was a pretty good looking guy', yeah, 10.000 BC maybe.
He really looks like a Neanderthal 😭

I hope he stops fighting before he gets brain damaged. He's too old to be taking beatings like that.
He is already brain damage :(
Google "Wanderlei Silva dano cerebral" and translate de page, its in portugueses
He said he already has 8 out of 10 issues caused by brain damage
s. vaheed bad ass
I went to this gym he owned and trained at here in my town for over a year
Sounds like you 2 spent the night together😂
Wanderlei is a savage. Hes had so many bare knuckle fights on top of all his MMA fights. Full life of battle lol
Colton W But yet he still throws a punch like my dead granny.
Shut tfu bitch he’ll knock you out still 💯✊🏾
The videos of his bare knuckle fights where head butts were legal are insane

@P Jeffery no u
The old school pride fighters were so awesome..I really miss those days of mma
Dude.. for real. Pride kicked ass. No booing from the japanese crowd. Ring promoted better striking. Just ruthless rules.
It was the time where the real MMA heroes were created. The fighters fought with their hearts and didn't have to rely on fake drama to sell tickets or PPV.
Yea the birth place of advance cte
I watched pride in chino state prison first time I seen mma
Only place you’d see some crazy shit like Wanderlei vs Mark Hunt
We need a documentary about Wanderlei’s childhood. I wanna know what created that beast.
Fun fact, he joined Chuteboxe in Curitiba because he think himself as being too ugly and had a low self steem , so he decided to get in shape so improve his chances with the ladies, there he discovered Muay Thai and found a way to vent off his frustration.

@@Tobiasu Shogun was a model? He looked like he was 40 at 23.

Just a normal looking badass
They’re talking about his physique looking normal, not his face lol
😂😂😂😂
I’ve met Wanderlei and his wife doing some work for him...awesome kind hearted dude. Got a quick roll in too. Will never forget it!
No you didn't 😂
I meet Wanderlei Silva he truly love his fans he love to talk with us take time for us ... this guy is a living legend
Absolutely!
Prime Wanderlei pumped full of steroids was the scariest fighter of all time, especially with limited rules where he was allowed to punt your head off your shoulders.
Nope, Vitor Belfort ! He half killed Silva in the UFC with one of the greatest ko's
Haha
His stomping finish against Yuki kondo ! Brutal
I'ma go with Mark Kerr on steroids scariest dude at that time
Mark Kerr was a physical beast, but had a very weak mentality. I would rather fight Kerr than someone like Khabib. Khabib doesn't get tired and makes even the elite athletes look like they barely trained. He's like a smaller Fedor/Velasquez, but with limitless cardio and even better technique.
Don Frye had the best stare down for a long time, he also still has the best mustache ever in MMA
Just mma ?
@@ashleygarnish9995

Lol Din Frye's iconic mustache needed it's own penicillin I.V. back in the "bloodshot eyes and a sore mustache" 1970's!
It’s good to see people still give Don Frye’s mustache the recognition it deserves.
What about Dan Severn?
Croo Cop in Pride was SO badass.
I still remember his kick that made Brock Lesnar buckle into a fetal position.
G D what
G D I think you mean Allistair my guy
nobody defended his shit back then. haha
Dude, he's still
Wanderlei was one of the most terrifying guys to watch fight, his mannerisms were just straight up nightmares.
When Wanderlei Silva Was 18yrs old,,,, he told his parents to move out.
I call bullcrap..
I'm always amazed by Joe's memory when it comes to who fought who.
True Fans remember sport very well.
4:22 “jay leno and him should chin off” 😂🤣 I’m crying
Connor: you should walk around with the card and shake that chin
Wanderlei is such a nice humble guy. It's a scary thing, knowing he could easily kill you, but the way he is with his fans and regular people, it's like he wouldn't harm a fly.
That typically us Brazilians
Yeah, he doesn't hurt flies. He usually goes after bigger game.
Wanderlei in his prime before his chin went was just a savage. The image of him slamming his knee into Rampages head and him just slumping through the ropes was terrifying.
Nobody was scarier than Fedor and Silva in their prime.
I dunno, your mom is a pretty strong contender for that spot
Ouch! A mom joke. What edgy humor will you come up with next?
@@resignator You think his mom humor is bad, wait til we break out the dad jokes...
Been crying the last hour from his mom joke. If he brings my dad in I might just off myself.
Your mom jokes are probably the most bottom of the barrel, low effort, low brow insult/joke there is, but in this context I found it kinda funny

Loved watching him Vs Rampage in Bellator, watching Silva swing like that, just like old times...
One does not simply get a moniker 'The Axe Murderer' !!
Wanderlei Silva Vs Dan Henderson in Pride 12 in 2000 is when I became an MMA fan to the hardcore. MMA was my NFL at that point.
“Dan Henderson’s chin looks like it was drawn on” 🤣🤣
The way Wanderlei stares down his opponent up close is intimidating to say the least, Conor has an extremely dominant stare down too, as he steps in and really looks at his opponents eyes and face followed by words of encouragement.
When is joe and Eddie going to commentate over the old pride fights?
For me wanderlei is may fav fighter to watch.he just so ferocious.pride middleweight champ for a reason.
Wanderlei fighting Brian Stann. That has to be one of the most incredible fights, ever.
Talk about going to war... Both of them!!!
Fuck yeah
Get both the Diaz brothers on here and have a blunt smoking competition!
I wonder why it hasn’t happened yet you think they don’t like him
Eh idk could you imagine trying to listen to Nick Diaz incoherently mumble his way through a 3 hour podcast?
Much respect to wanderlei silca the most ferocious predator that ever competed in mma
Brazillian power
I would love to have seen a Cro Cop Rampage staredown
They are really good friends tho... so never wanted to fight.
Best fight ever was Fedor vs Cro cop.
I still remember that how Silva beated Rampage's ass so merciless.

Wanderlei was the heavier fighter when fighting Mirko in the second fight :)
I can’t let Wanderlei get close
"Him and Jay Leno should have a chin off" lmao

In the thumbnail Silva looks like “Puri-puri prisoner.”
Most intimidating faces:
Pride version of Wanderlei Silva, Wallid Ismail, Ralph Gracie, Brock Lesnar, Kimbo Slice.
