It's a shame because a lot of these old melodies are just as beautiful as AR Rahman's. But you can't really blame them as they have been introduced to AR Rahman as the 'ONE' in Indian music, so they pay special attention to his music.

They have never commented on Rafi's voice nor Kishore nor Manna Dey etc. I think they will react only to Jagjit Singh with his ultra deep voice.

The cinema of Shantaram (he was known as "Anna saheb" also) was so complete in all aspects that his movie studio "Prabhat Studio " in Pune was popular as a school of arts in people. @@telugujoshi The term Bollywood is very recent so let's leave that out of the equation, and yes, the Telugu film industry is also known as Tollywood because of Telugu and Hollywood. In India we have 2 Tollywoods - The Indian Bengali Film industry being the older one, and the Telugu Film industry being the fairly recent one. People normally fight as to which industry is the original Tollywood, but I feel fighting over such a trivial issue is a waste of time.
