An iconic pair who changed Indian music forever and for the first time put Indian film music on the global map. When you react you ignore the COMPOSERS and SINGERS. And the INSTRUMENTAL interludes. This is almost across all videos. But Indians watch movies because of the MUSIC. You guys sing very well. Your reactions to the visual aspects are great. You also manage to teach a few things unknown to viewers. Thank you for not now discriminating between OLD and NEW. Art is TIMELESS.

    • @no127
      @no127 3 года назад +3

      They actually do talk about the singers if they are really touched by it, especially Lataji's voice. But you are right about the composers. They seem to only know AR Rahman. It's a shame because a lot of these old melodies are just as beautiful as AR Rahman's. But you can't really blame them as they have been introduced to AR Rahman as the 'ONE' in Indian music, so they pay special attention to his music.

We also must react to other aspects of the music. We are enjoying how the foreigners are growing in their appreciation of Indian things. They have never commented on Rafi's voice nor Kishore nor Manna Dey etc. I think they will react only to Jagjit Singh with his ultra deep voice.

They appreciate pure classical above light music and dance. Kudos in many ways....!

      @@sumanrao1739 I think it is just a matter of taste and how one listens. Maybe they don't find a lot of these singer's vocals special enough to comment on. Or perhaps they just haven't heard the right songs🤷‍♂️. They reacted to Lata's 'Kuch dil ne kaha' on patreon. They were in high praise of her voice. They said she sounded like a Disney princess! Talking of classics, for me personally, if you havent touched the movies of Dilip Kumar, the greatest of them all, then you havent touched bollywood at all. If some one has been really idolised in Indian film Industry, from big b to naseeruddin shah or from SRK to kamal hassn, then its him. He is in his late 90s now, frail and we may end up losing this institution soon. If you want to watch a really great classic from a "film art" perspective, do watch the marathi film Sant Tukaram (1936). This film was selected as one of the 3 best films at the Venice Film Festival and is generally regarded as a cinematic treasure in India. The context is the biopic of the poet Saint Tukaram (17th century), one of the greatest and most revered saints in India, who propagated societal reform and his sheer devotion as well as his philosophy have left a deep impact on the cultural milieu of central/western India.

The cinema of Shantaram (he was known as "Anna saheb" also) was so complete in all aspects that his movie studio "Prabhat Studio " in Pune was popular as a school of arts in people. Shantaram had donated this huge studio to Govt. of India to open a training institute for Indian cinema in 1969. Today it is known as Films and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune. Its cinema archives is one of the best in the world. A must visit place. So many world class actors, directors, editors are produced here.

      @@telugujoshi The term Bollywood is very recent so let's leave that out of the equation, and yes, the Telugu film industry is also known as Tollywood because of Telugu and Hollywood. In India we have 2 Tollywoods - The Indian Bengali Film industry being the older one, and the Telugu Film industry being the fairly recent one. People normally fight as to which industry is the original Tollywood, but I feel fighting over such a trivial issue is a waste of time.

    You did react to a Telugu old classic song “ aahana pelli anta “ from the movie “ Mayabazar “. I strongly recommend you pick that film for a classic. It is a very futuristic film in more ways than one. It is a mythological film. 😎👌

      Savitri and SV Rangarao go from one character to the other seamlessly. Savitri imitating SV Ranga Rao is why she is the Greatest Actress - mahaanati. But please please please watch the original B&W version. Colorization messed up the cinematoraphy.

    Malayalam classic - Chemmeen (Prawn/Shrimp)....
    It is usually cited as the first notable creative film in South India.[1] It was also the first South Indian film to win the Indian President's Gold Medal for the Best Film, which it did so in 1965. It was screened at various international film festivals and won awards at the Cannes and Chicago festivals. The film was included in the list of 100 greatest Indian films by IBN Live.
