The King's Academy, a National Blue Ribbon, Christian school in South Florida, recently presented "Disney's Beauty and the Beast" on its main stage in the new Page Family Center for Performing Arts. Starring TKA senior Gracie O'Connor (Belle), senior Casey Gustafson (Beast), junior Chris Pappas (Lumiere), senior Graham Popadic (Cogsworth), senior Kate Higgins (Mrs. Potts), and senior Sam Cornelius (Gaston), this performance showcased TKA’s fine young talent.
TKA’s Conservatory of the Arts, a two-time American High School Theatre Festival award-winning fine arts program, is led by Mr. David Snyder (Artistic Director, Musical Theater, Department Chair), Mrs. Sonia Santiago (Vocal Arts), Mrs. Cathy Higgins (Dance- Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz), Miss Riselle Portuondo (Dance- Ballet and Modern), Miss Sarah Fahey (Theatre Arts), Mr. Brad Majzner (Stagecraft), Mr. David Skinner (Instrumental Director), Mr. Wes Lowe (Assistant Band Director), Mr. Patrick Clifford (Strings), Mrs. Macey Norton (Video/Digital Arts), Mrs. Laura McFaden (Visual Art), Miss Stephanie Revell (Elementary Choir, Woodwinds), and Mrs. Robin Phillips (Piano).

This rendition was so sweet! I first thought the tempo was so slow and therefore no longer a waltz. But as I heard it to the end, it was a enchanting performance with so much hope and longing in the characters.

Thanks for your question, Megan. Madame de la Grande Bouche is played by TKA senior Jessica Curley. Jessica has also appeared on King's main stage in Funny Girl (as Miss O'Malley), Les Miserables, A Christmas Carol (as Ghost of Christmas Past), The Light in the Piazza (as Signora Naccarelli), Wizard of Oz (as Glinda), and Jekyll & Hyde. She is currently starring as Betty Haynes in TKA's production of "White Christmas".

Thanks for the question. Chris Pappas played Lumiere. He's also starred on King's main stage as Peter in Peter and the Starcatcher and Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka Jr.--and has appeared in numerous other TKA productions including The Sound of Music and Les Miserables!

I play Madame De La Grande Bouche for my school play, And I was surprised because I'm only in the 7th grade, But I really can't wait :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
I just got casted as her in September, and i'm in 7th grade.
I'm pretty nervous, but they show's in January so i've got a lot of time to practice
Human again, think what that means. I ❤️ the rhythm. Those of you that don't know, this song is also sung by the chorus in the broadway show. The expansion for Lumiere and his gang was a surprise to me. This production is the best I've seen in a while.

Imagine my amazement when 8 found out the modern releases of Beauty and the beast 9muts the human again song. A favorite even when I was little.

I love that they added a bit of loneliness here. You can feel the hope and longing of the characters especially when the Wardrobe sang. It isnt just excitement, bu tsomethibg bittersweet which makes sense and more complex.
