Even years later i'm still surprised how much voiced dialouge FFX had. You can talk to almost every character after every major event or even small event and they will have a bunch of new things to say. They really went all out with FFX at the time.
I'm surprised at how they managed write all that voiced dialogue in a way that they never refer to the main character by name (since you can pick his name at the start), and yet all of the interactions still feel natural. My first time playing through I never actually noticed this until that scene where Tidus listens to the sphere that Yuna had recorded back at the chocobo stable and she refers to him as "the star player of the Zanarkand Abes". This is probably the best piece of dialogue I’ve ever heard in a game or even a film. 😮 he knew jecht and tidus were both dreams. Jecht with his travels with finally found out what “his” Zanarkand were. Auron travelled obviously knowing the real Zanarkand had gone and all of sudden there it is again. As he said “ I saw it in sins eyes” the level of his and jechts feelings were telepathic. jecht wanted him to have a shot as a “real” person the bad and good in life just so his son could exp what real life felt like before he discovered he was a dream and had to disappear because jechts plan was in motion. I never even knew this dialogue existed. It the reason I love this game. So many characters tell more story after each inch of progression. Everything he says has some kind of moral or wisdom about not just life but your choices and actions and how they can impact those around and write out a story that could as some say… “last a thousand years.”
The scary part is that this shows that all previous Sins kept their sanity for some time before being completely consumed by Yu Yevon. Jecht wanted his son a chance at life but most importantly to stop the cycle. His life, his home, was all a memory kept alive by a person who is nothing more than a monster now. Destroying it and standing on the ruins of what he did, really shows how strong Jecht became after traveling through Spira. To give his new home the peace he had for so long living in Zanarkand. It's also likely that other Sins tried the same, which could explain how Jecht was taken to Spira by the previous Sin. Maybe they tried but no one came close.

Jecht, Braska and Auron were truly worthy of their own game. Auron could of had a stand alone game starting with his battle with Lady Yunalesca. X was so good, all the short comings of X-2 are forgivable and I never say that about a game ever. Which says a lot.
@@yomi8933 The final form of the battle system was good, I was referring to how inconsistent the game is with enemy strengths, a convoluted route to 100% completion as well as other inconsistencies, that made X-2 not as good as the X, X was a masterpiece though, nothing wrong it. So that's not a bad comparison at all. Maybe by modern standards it might have it's short comings, but for the time, when it came out, it became the gold standard of JRPGs . The story was okay and the true final ending was just stellar for X-2. X was better though by a mile, even better then FFVII,
If I could only explain to you how badly me and my father loved this game, we'd both rant about how the trio needed a standalone title, R.I.P Pops, maybe one day
really ? there are people that liked the X-2 girl band, J-pop silly personality swapping Yuna etc.? That's news to me. I hated that shit. I truly despised what they did to the overall feel of the setting-world. The battle system wasnt half bad but all the other aspects of that game felt so off.
I’ve been playing final fantasy 10 since I was 5 years old. It’s been 20 years. Not once have I ever heard this dialogue. Got everybody else’s dialogue but I never knew Auron said any of this.
When I first played Rikku was my favourite (I was 15, and apparant she's portrayed as 15 too). Now as I'm 34, I'm replaying the game and I resonate more with Auron who's apparantly 35.
I totally feel that. Rikku was always my favorite too playing this as a child. But I always looked up to Auron and though he was this wise dead father figure lol. But playing it pushing 30 myself everything really has such a deeper meaning again, and every time I play it!
@@fugoo8912 I was expecting X-2 to be different but I didn't expect them to butcher it. The opportunities for expanding the FFX world and having a very strong narrative/character-driven Braska prequel would have been great. If you assume that most people who were going to play FFX-2 are fans of the original then it's obvious that they would be really into the idea of exploring the most interesting aspects of the world in further depth. Seeing how things happened and what gave rise to situations in the original would have been really cool. Focusing on just 3 main characters would have given the story a lot of space to develop in much more depth, especially since we already know these characters and are invested in their stories, and the game could have added historical elements like going back in the past even further with flashback-style chapters to explore each aeon's original character and what motivated them, what they went through, and why they decided to become an aeon. This would flesh things out and break up some of the (potential) tedium of having too few playable characters. (This could have been done with Maester Jyscal Guado and his wife, and with the other Maesters too.) Imagine if in each of these historical chapters you could play as the characters who would become aeons and the choices you made while playing them determined the strengths and abilities of the aeon that Braska acquires. Imagine a drunken battle you have to solo as Jecht with a Shoopuff boss for the opponent lol. Such a missed opportunity 😔
I dream about this so often. Seeing all those places we visit in FFX from Jechts perspective, hin fighting the shoopuf, i want to live this dream. They could do so much with new graphics and stuff while staying true to the art design of spira and all of its places. It would be so cool. Might be hard to get the voice actors to do it but this is my greatest wish.

Ffx had some of the best older characters, at least for a ff title. Maechen as well, especially after his content in ffx2. A ffx3 like the art teased on the remaster, even though it's probably too late, would have elevated ffx a ton. With ffx2 exploring characters stories from the farplane ie the dead, and ffx3s concept teasing them coming back, there'd be room for all sorts of possibilities gameplay and story wise, and exploring characters like braska and others; with tidus coming to terms with jecht and adopting some of his fighting style, and seeing all of the characters interact together and discuss life and death, all the while fighting their hardest battle yet. Nostalgia aside ffx was probably one of the last memorable casts of a ff mainline title, 12 had 2, I loved 13 and 15 but they never had the combination of emotions, visuals, and world building ffx had, traveling across the world and learning about everyone if you chose to do so; it was probably their closest match to a trails game in terms of caring for NPCs. They've gotten increased budgets and graphics but seem to have lost some of their soul and creativity.
35 yrs is not old, but he looks and act like a 50 yrs, so middleaged who has seen all in life. Maechen is great i aggree, i could hear his stories endlessy and never get tired, even Mika is not bad, he is a liar and manipulator, but it seems he care for Spira, even if in the wrong way. Trommell too is not bad written even for the small screentime he has, he is a bootlicker of Seymour and the 2nd in command of the Guado, but his actions and the ones of his master put all his people to be emarginated from Spira.

Wow! This kinda explains how he ended up in the dream world and then back. I never understood this lart of the story and made me scratch my head and think it was probably a plot hole for almost 10 years!
There is no actual 'dream world', Dream Zanarkand is just a projected location out in the middle of the ocean that nobody could ever get to because Sin would kill them if they went out that far
I played X for the first time recently and Auron is probably my favorite character in the series, his design is cool as fuck so I'm glad they followed through and also made his writing and voice cool as fuck too
Every NPCs have their own way monologue. Example, the fiend attacking on Luca which Seymor summons Anime for the first time before tournament is Seymour's idea to take a trust for him from Spiran.
There's alot of dialogue like this throughout the game, such as finding out that Sin came about because Zanarkand was about to fall and the leaders of that nation essentially summoned it as a last 'f*** you' move to the world.
I've always wondered... if Auron is dead... why doesn't a Phoenix Down kill him? Or revive him? How can he be killed in the party if he's dead? So complex. I love FFX. Auron has always been one of my favorite characters in the FF series
Even though I've been playing this game since 2001, it still makes my mind explode with all these revelations. Tidus really was from a dream world, and Auron woke him up. No wonder why he was so naive to the world around him and the horrors that the real world can display.
#SPOILERS I don't remember why Tidus was a dream. Did he die at a young age during the zanarkand attack so jecht dreamed him up? In the game it was said that the Aeons did. So why did Auron explain an attack before he got there?
During the machina war with Bevelle, the inhabitants of the original Zanarkand were converted into fayth to form a dream version of Zanarkand (as a way to preserve the city as they remember it) and creating the people who live there (Jecht and Tidus included)
@@imperialist1663 So I'm guessing the cutscenes with his mother when Tidus was a child were before the war? Because I'm also guessing that older Tidus and Jecht were dreamed up. Not their younger selves? The time frames are still baffling lol
@@cruxmind not exactly. The dream version of Zanarkand and all of its citizens never experienced the war the original Zanarkand went through. @@imperialist1663 but can you see why I am so confused? Because how can they perceive memories of someone who actually lived before the war but the dream version never experiences it? I've been playing since 2002 but it still boggles my mind.
@@cruxmind it's pretty complex of a plot element, that much I can understand. After playing this game so many times, my understanding is that dream Zanarkand and all of its citizens are made in the way the original inhabitants want to remember it, as a way of preserving the city.
Well, he certainly gets that shot, but... it sits strange with me, you know? Because Auron and Jecht must have known that Tidus might just fade away anyway. It feels like there might be more to this than meets the ear, like... yeah, you say you wanted to give Tidus a shot at life, but it seems more to me you used him to end the Dream. "Someday, the Dream will end..." It gives me similar feelings to Dumbledore; however, it's been years. I don't remember all the details anymore.
Correct me if im wrong but as far as i know, neither auron nor jecht knows how it will end. Auron knows facts only until yunalesca. But auron is clueless as to what could happen if a summoner denies to get the final aeon. As for jecht, all in he wants is for tidus to reach him and kill him before he fully transforms to the final aeon. But im pretty sure he doesn't have an idea about his zanarkand being a dream of the fayth. Only tidus knows about this fact because bamahut kid told him abt it. So he when they knew they had to kill yu yevon he connected the dots that killing yu yevon means yuna had to summon all aeons until yu yevon no longer has any aeon to possess which means their dream of zanarkand including tidus can finally end.
Am still confused ‘til now tho. I played FFX and X-2 but still wondering if Tidus DID actually exist at some point in time (like how the heck is he Jecht’s son if he didn’t) or is he really JUST A DREAM with Shuyin’s resemblance. 🤔🤔
I still don't understand whats real and whats not in the game. All I know for sure is Tidus was a 'Dream' made of the spooky ghost particles, not sure if he ever really existed. I don't even know if Auron is real.
Pretty much everyone in the dream zanarkand is based on people who were alive in the original zanarkand. Everyone else outside of dream zanarkand is a real person, auron included. Only reason auron could stay in zanarkand is because he is an unsent and jecht probably took him there.
@@kmrskates for him to wake up in the unknown. Him being comfortable in Zanarkand. Wakes up in Spira. And back to Zanarkand where the story reaches it's end. That makes sense.

X was better though by a mile, even better then FFVII,
If I could only explain to you how badly me and my father loved this game, we'd both rant about how the trio needed a standalone title, R.I.P Pops, maybe one day
@@Venusandbeyond a good old sake drink for him..
really ? there are people that liked the X-2 girl band, J-pop silly personality swapping Yuna etc.? That's news to me. I hated that shit. I truly despised what they did to the overall feel of the setting-world. The battle system wasnt half bad but all the other aspects of that game felt so off.
I’ve been playing final fantasy 10 since I was 5 years old. It’s been 20 years. Not once have I ever heard this dialogue. Got everybody else’s dialogue but I never knew Auron said any of this.
Played this game countless times thr past 20 years and I am still learning stuff that I missed
A shot at life. Love this
When I first played Rikku was my favourite (I was 15, and apparant she's portrayed as 15 too). Now as I'm 34, I'm replaying the game and I resonate more with Auron who's apparantly 35.
replay it in 50 years and you will resonate with Seymore summoning (Anima) :)
@@dododimitrov9657 Okay that's hilarious 😂
I totally feel that. Rikku was always my favorite too playing this as a child. But I always looked up to Auron and though he was this wise dead father figure lol. But playing it pushing 30 myself everything really has such a deeper meaning again, and every time I play it!
he's 35? jesus, he must have had a very hard life.
Auron stand-alone game. Now🙏
Or him, Braska and Jecht - that would be epic!
They shoulda went that route with X-2 instead of the… well, where they went. 😂
@@fugoo8912 I would like a prequel set during the Machina War
(This could have been done with Maester Jyscal Guado and his wife, and with the other Maesters too.)
Imagine if in each of these historical chapters you could play as the characters who would become aeons and the choices you made while playing them determined the strengths and abilities of the aeon that Braska acquires.
I've been saying this for years. Where's my Braska pilgrimage prequel
I just got chills. Best Final Fantasy by a LONG shot, and that's saying something because 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9 are no slouches.
8 is doodoo

FF 10, 7, 9, 8, 12 as my top 5. I did really like 1, 2, and 6 (formerly 4?). I only played them briefly when I was younger and don't totally remember the stories but they were worthwhile
@TheOfficialBullyMaguire based, exact same order as me, weird lol
Sir Auron The Legendary Guardian. Hands down my favorite Final Fantasy character. ✌😎👍
Ngl I powerlevelled him first, so when he compares to the rest of the group, he genuinely seems like the legendary force people make him out to be because he one-hits everything (except superbosses and some monster arena enemies)
Alright, alright, hear me out. FFX-III, the prequel story of Auron, Braska, and Jecht's journey to fight Sin.
Let's be honest, we all hoped we'd age to look like Auron when we were kids.
At the ripe old age of 35
@@danLyoutube Was going to say 35 ain't old and plenty who look younger than him even at 45.
With all that said -- get consistent 7 to 8 hours of sleep always on time, avoid process shitty foods, drink water (lots of it) and lift weights. You'll age and look better than 70% of the population, especially in the unhealthy west.

Thank you for the amazing video. I don't tend to talk to people during the game unless I KNOW there is something special. At least not since my first play through (back on the PS2). I think I'll start looking into talking to people again. This game has a beautiful story.
You should play the remastered version

A part of him was torn away when Tidus's father offered himself to become Sin, he was at odds the whole journey with him, it's the old "you don't know what you have until it's gone" taken to a higher level! Truly awesome when you step back and think about it!
FFX is like Romeo and Juliet. Seems like a love story at first, but in reality is a sad and tragic tale.
Thank you! I thought Auron had planned for years to bring Tidus to Spira in order to break the cycle of Sin, and this shows us that he instantly decided it upon seeing Jecht in Sin. My mind is blown.
Tried playing blitzball when I was a kid. I could only hold my breath for 30 seconds, the ball would immediately float to the top of the pool as soon as it left my hands, and I could hardly swim. Needless to say I wasn't very good.
This made me understand FFX’s story a lot more without trying
Right until the end, Auron knew Tidus was a dream. He kept it a secret all the time just to allow him some belief.
We were supposed to get a FF X-3 based on the novels but I rather have a Prequel about the Machina War. Yu Yevon, Lady Yunalesca, Lord Zaon, Young Melchan, Shuyun, Leene, Kid Bahamut, forming of Sin, Vegnagun, Zanarkand vs Bevelle, Summoners vs Machina. Al Bhed hate origin.
How are the novel btw ?
@@MokaReligieuse Its okay. There's an audio version for it already on RUclips if you search it up. I believe it was written by the original scriptwriter so I guess its cannon. I don't want to give any spoilers.
I wanted to cosplay as young Auron but now I am too old. Still, the deep thoughts thrown into these types of games gave me abilities to deal with situations that nothing else could have prepared me for. My memories are save points. My life merges with dreams and simulations. Art imitates life. One day, this old soldier too will fade away... 3... Nothing's wrong with me. 4. Something's got to give.

Ffx and kingdom hearts were 2 of my favorite games. Thinking back ffx had so much depth I didn't understand playing it growing up.
Auron's voice actor 👍
You posted this a year ago and all of a sudden (by the time of my comment) 11 days ago you started getting all this attention. Gotta love the youtube algorithm lmao. I'm assuming because I've been watching some ffx playthrus that's why your video popped into my feed. Great video too as I've seen this in game maybe once, it's so easy to forget to talk to people and you miss out on the lore. Thanks for reminding me of this.
I'm not complaining but yeah it's weird. Lol
I haven’t seen anything remotely final fantasy related, but it just showed up. I did buy the game on Steam not long ago.
Auron is one of the coolest characters in video game history
This game is a Masterpiece.
No, a Legend
One of the greatest titles released for PS2, certainly
They should make Blitzball a stand alone game by EA Sports
Would certainly be a lot more interesting. Maybe Square Sports or Square Enix Sports (SE Sportssss).
Surprised reading that ppl didn't hear this, wonder what else they didn't hear or missed in the game, My twin and I combed through this game so much till we had all its secrets.
Like the lost City of Atlantis
Yea dream zanarkand is basically a giant summoned aeon city/people.
Auron does not say "Are you sure?" He actually asks, "You are sure?"
"I wanted to give you a chance......at collecting monsters for the arena"
I played X for the first time recently and Auron is probably my favorite character in the series, his design is cool as fuck so I'm glad they followed through and also made his writing and voice cool as fuck too
Thank you for answering a question i didn't know I had but still amazed to find the answer to!
I played this game several times, even recently, like 2020 or 2021?
And yet, I didn't realize until now how much I miss hearing Auron's voice.
I did not know this piece of dialogue existed. Thank you.
This is the most beautiful FF
Every NPCs have their own way monologue. Example, the fiend attacking on Luca which Seymor summons Anime for the first time before tournament is Seymour's idea to take a trust for him from Spiran.
Foreshadowing after foreshadowing.
Tidus is just an NPC with an NPC dad who goes sentient.
There's alot of dialogue like this throughout the game, such as finding out that Sin came about because Zanarkand was about to fall and the leaders of that nation essentially summoned it as a last 'f*** you' move to the world.
Damnnn, that hits hard in the feels
I have never seen this dialogue before. Pretty interesting.
Amazing background info. Auron goes too deep 🔥
I've always wondered... if Auron is dead... why doesn't a Phoenix Down kill him? Or revive him? How can he be killed in the party if he's dead? So complex. I love FFX. Auron has always been one of my favorite characters in the FF series
Jecht/Sin influence.
......... "You are sure?"
One of the best written games ever
Jecht and Auron were such bros he could even understand him when he was Sin. If X-3 isn't about Braska's pilgrimage then I'm not buying.
Even though I've been playing this game since 2001, it still makes my mind explode with all these revelations. Tidus really was from a dream world, and Auron woke him up. No wonder why he was so naive to the world around him and the horrors that the real world can display.
Pretty sure it’s “you are sure?”
#SPOILERS
I don't remember why Tidus was a dream.
Though they're not exact copies of the citizens of the original city, everyone you see in the beginning of the game are the result of the fayth's collective memories and can function/exist like the people of Spira
Auron's voice actor nailed it!
So Jecht didn’t send Auron there to get Tidus? He just spur of the moment decided to bring him Spira? Interesting.
"Someday, the Dream will end..."
It gives me similar feelings to Dumbledore; however, it's been years.
I don't remember this dialogue. Was this exclusive to the HD/International version?
There is also a dialogue where Auron says he rather faces his fear, then die.
Does anyone know when he says it?
I believe when you fight Yunalesca, he says "Die and be free of pain, or live and fight your sorrow."
@@jpart3526 yeah I know that scene, but I think it is after Yunalesca in the airship.
@@jpart3526 i think it was a conversation splitted in 3 dialogues, where he stated, that he was impressed by Tidus' development.
so good!
Am still confused ‘til now tho. I played FFX and X-2 but still wondering if Tidus DID actually exist at some point in time (like how the heck is he Jecht’s son if he didn’t) or is he really JUST A DREAM with Shuyin’s resemblance. 🤔🤔
Funniest bit is that Auron is meant to be 35
Aaron sure seems done with life for a healthy guy in his mid 30s.. .
he is dead though
I still don't understand whats real and whats not in the game. All I know for sure is Tidus was a 'Dream' made of the spooky ghost particles, not sure if he ever really existed. I don't even know if Auron is real.
Pretty much everyone in the dream zanarkand is based on people who were alive in the original zanarkand. Everyone else outside of dream zanarkand is a real person, auron included. Only reason auron could stay in zanarkand is because he is an unsent and jecht probably took him there.
So Jecht (as Sin) attacked Zanarkand just so his son wouldn’t be a blue pilled beach boy?
He wanted his son to stop him.
What does blue pill/red pill have to do with this? Nothing.
@@kmrskates for him to wake up in the unknown. Him being comfortable in Zanarkand. Wakes up in Spira. And back to Zanarkand where the story reaches it's end.

I liked Auron way more than I thought I would. He was kinda an asshole in KH2 and he looks like a stereotypical drunk adult character with a gruff demeanor but he's actually very kind, polite, and understanding. Titus can be a little bitch at times but when you think he'd smack him or curse him out hes a very patient mentor. Easily one of the best characters.
