My favorite interaction is during the ride with Kimahri. I just think it's really wholesome; the fact that they complement each other and that he's generally open-minded. I love it.
Going the Lulu affection route and still having her end up with Wakka is one of the funniest, yet crappy things in JRPG gaming. Tidus returns to life and surfaces, sees Lulu with Wakka's baby... "Alright, well, I'm going back down to the bottom of the ocean now!"
I think tidus should go with Yuna, jst the story it should be. BUT ME, def more into Lulu, and i enjoy her affection cutscenes more than the rest. I got hers and i didnt even recogznise that this affection level thing was a thing. But I think Rikku's scenes in Guadosalam were pretty cute.

Although these all add interesting moments between the characters I think the scenes with Lulu are definitely the most significant and arguably the 'best'. A lot of people don't even know about the others because Lulu is frequently the closest and you spend the longest with (especially for Guadosalam). I feel like it makes the most sense for her to share these scenes and gives a lot of context and insight into her relationship with Wakka especially.

This is so cool. I never realised there was an affection system until recently. My first few playthroughs as a kid I always got Rikku or Auron. It's funny bc I knew Tidus loved Yuna but I personally loved Rikku and it obviously showed in my dialogue choices, also always had her in the party whenever I could. 20 years later still learning new bits about this game
It's strange how they give us affinity scenes with Rikku or Lulu but they never really go anywhere and the game shoves Yuna in as the canon romance anyway. What is the point of the affinity stuff if its so half assed? Ideally more scenes would change depending on which of the ladies has the highest affinity with Tidus, and the highest would end up as his romance for macalania, the ending, etc.

@@rjmeeker89 FFX apparently seems to be more personal as in you're the player that Tidus' name was so late in development that they couldn't just add it normally. Even in FFX-2, Tidus' name wasn't mentioned but whenever Yuna refers to him, it's about "you" or "him".
In earlier games I always got Lulu. When I discovered the mechanics behind, I always try to get Rikku. It's easy, just don't carry Lulu as party member as possible until guadosalam, don't talk to lulu on feild or heal her on battle. When rikku is on the party always heal her, talk to her first in the field. Then you'll get rikku cutscene with very high probability
FFX is my favorite game and i played it many, many, many times and watched many Lets Plays. Still, 90% of what i saw here is totaly new for me, so thanks for the video man :D

Like many, I didn't even know there was an affection system in the game when I first played it. I ended up with the Lulu scenes though... Because I was at that *emotional* age.

They probably did this because it’s so hard to get the scene with her in the first place. Seems like you have to really target it and play a bit in an unnatural way. So they could ‚afford‘ to spoil the twist as a sort of reward…? Don’t know.
@@SurvivalSpheres just spend more time on that massive ship with her at the very start grinding in the water killing fish with her instead of swimming straight through to the control panel to fight the boss. Then when she joins the party for real, focus on her a lot.

I ended up with Rikku's scene in Guadosalam, on my first playthrough. Auron accompanied me on the speeder. I thought I was crazy, going back and always getting Lulu's scene, before I learned about the affection ratings. I always avoided Lulu, because she kinda gave out this whole "I really don't like you" vibe towards Tidus. On subsequent playthroughs, though, she tended to be the first person I talked to, because she often gave Tidus lore that he was confused on, and I figured she would be a good mentor figure for Tidus to talk to, regarding Spira (as opposed to Auron, who was more a general life-advice guy)
lulu is my favorite character and thankfully the easiest to get the affection scenes, so i never really bothered with the others. after watching the alternate scenes, i can say safely say lulus are the better anyway lol.
I feel like Rikku's scene with Tidus on the way to Macalania temple should be default. It looks more like it makes sense, adds foreshadowing without completely telling the player the truth of a summoners pilgrimage, and there's more depth to the lineage background regarding Rikku and Yuna's family.
The strange thing for me is; i swear I remember people saying the ps2 faces looked strange at one point but now everyone says the remaster looks strange. I haven't noticed much difference in my own experiences but if you put them side by side i'm sure I'll see something
FFX's models actually have more articulation points than XII does because of the company's aim to make it a system selling graphical hit, much the same way 7 was for the PS1. the game was originally delayed to the same day the GC was announced which put square in the red ink for the first time ever. This move ended up leading to Wada's promotion to CEO and a merger with Enix that then led the company into the ultra graphics we say with Crystal Tools and an obsession with fidelity. This extended to 15's development too and is still kinda lingering
For lulu to say a day with you is never dull and then lets go, just you and me. Other than the kiss between yuna and tidus in macalania woods, lulus is the only one that says something remotely close to having feelings. I mean, with all the party members present and she says just you and me. Well they are fictional characters, but still, i prefer lulu, she was a woman, again fictional.

My heart dropped. Can’t believe I didn’t see so many of these scenes. I always usually got Lulu in Guadosalam & on the snowmobile. I frequently got Rikku but only on this playthrough is where I finally collected all of the Al Bhed Primers and understood what she said when she jumped from the bridge. I never got her on the snowmobile tho. Always Lulu and I never was by myself. But what stood out the most is the jump from the airship. I rarely got Yuna right there. It was always Lulu. That was really cool
i didn't even realize you could get a rikku affection scene in guadosalam, isn't that like 5 minutes after her joining the party? would you have to grind battles or something to bring her points up?
@@tetrastreamxvii literally doing a playthrough to try out the expert sphere grid, get all the optional stuff, see the Rikku scenes, and (possibly Yevon willing) defeat the dark aeons. This comment just saved me from missing one later
So now having finished my playthrough I can say that Rikku is one of my favorite FF characters in the series, she's an unstoppable bloodthirsty killing machine, and the Dark Aeons are stupid and I will carry the shame of my defeat for the rest of my days.
In the beginning of the game don't rush underwater to fight the boss so fast. Do some grinding in the water by the ship fighting the fish with rikku and let the get beaten up a bit then heal her.
This video just taught me that the final scenes here are actually affection mechanics. I've only ever seen Yuna's there, I just thought it was scripted. Even the one time I saw Auron jump off the airship first instead of Yuna, I got Yuna for the following scene.
I've played this game since release and I never knew that there were other options besides Lulu. I just always got her whenever I would play through it again.
They should've included conversations in Guadosalam for the other characters too. Wakka, Kimahri and Auron. Of course it doesn't have to be romantic just bros talking to each other and talking about their opinion of Yunas marriage
Huh, I only just learned from a Podcast that there was variety in theses scenes. I've gotten Lulu on most, for the Marriage and Ride, it seemed to work well so I though that was the default. Did think it was weird when Lulu said those things on airship though.
Never saw the Rikku/Tidus scene in guadosalam, never saw the Auron/Tidus scene in macalania neither Kimarhi/Tidus at the same place. Played the game when I was 12, I am still SO into it when seeing those scenes (33yo old boomer here).

My heart dropped. Can’t believe I didn’t see so many of these scenes. I always usually got Lulu in Guadosalam & on the snowmobile. I frequently got Rikku but only on this playthrough is where I finally collected all of the Al Bhed Primers and understood what she said when she jumped from the bridge. I never got her on the snowmobile tho. Always Lulu and I never was by myself. But what stood out the most is the jump from the airship. I rarely got Yuna right there. It was always Lulu. That was really cool

i didn't even realize you could get a rikku affection scene in guadosalam, isn't that like 5 minutes after her joining the party? would you have to grind battles or something to bring her points up?
Feed Rikku with potions using Tidus. 40-50 will suffice. Preferably before entering the manor.
@@tetrastreamxvii literally doing a playthrough to try out the expert sphere grid, get all the optional stuff, see the Rikku scenes, and (possibly Yevon willing) defeat the dark aeons. This comment just saved me from missing one later
So now having finished my playthrough I can say that Rikku is one of my favorite FF characters in the series, she's an unstoppable bloodthirsty killing machine, and the Dark Aeons are stupid and I will carry the shame of my defeat for the rest of my days.

In the beginning of the game don't rush underwater to fight the boss so fast. Do some grinding in the water by the ship fighting the fish with rikku and let the get beaten up a bit then heal her.

This video just taught me that the final scenes here are actually affection mechanics. I've only ever seen Yuna's there, I just thought it was scripted. Even the one time I saw Auron jump off the airship first instead of Yuna, I got Yuna for the following scene.

They should've included conversations in Guadosalam for the other characters too. Wakka, Kimahri and Auron. Of course it doesn't have to be romantic just bros talking to each other and talking about their opinion of Yunas marriage

Huh, I only just learned from a Podcast that there was variety in theses scenes. I've gotten Lulu on most, for the Marriage and Ride, it seemed to work well so I though that was the default. Did think it was weird when Lulu said those things on airship though.

Never saw the Rikku/Tidus scene in guadosalam, never saw the Auron/Tidus scene in macalania neither Kimarhi/Tidus at the same place. Played the game when I was 12, I am still SO into it when seeing those scenes (33yo old boomer here).
