    My absolute favorite thing about that last episode (well, other than Dave mentioning his son and showing a picture of a young boy smoking a cigarette) was the montage set to "Everlong." It just summed up everything amazing and wonderful and brilliant about the show and Dave's career.

    I was fortunate to go to several live tapings of Late Night/Late Show and was always amazed by Dave's lighting-fast wit in the Warm Ups. He would ask audience members questions and have hysterical comebacks in a split second. Love this channel, keep up the good work!

    Thank you for sharing videos like this one. I dreamed of going to see Dave. I was able to travel to New York, summer 1996. When I went to the theater, there was a sign saying that there was no Live shows that week, vacation time. I was so disappointed but I treasure my picture in front of the theater and I still have my "Late Show with David Letterman" blue t-shirt 😉 I love you David Letterman ❤️

    I remember, in the final year of the show, the official Late Show YT putting up several of these warm-ups. I saved a few of them, but they never put this one up; there was absolutely no post-mortem in the YT channel, the clips from the air show went up and it was taken down a week or two later and replaced by Colbert hype. Thanks for putting this up, and if you deign to do so, maybe put up the final performance of Everlong, but without the montage? Nothing against Barbara's montage, she did an amazing job, I've just always wanted to see the live performance by those brave Fighters of Foo.

      Who cares about that, there’s hundreds of clips of them performing that show live.

    • @gecafe
      @gecafe 2 года назад +1

      @@thefonzkiss Who cares? Besides me (obviously,) lots of folk. After the official CBS LS channel removed all the Letterman clips to make way for Colbert, I uploaded the final performance from my own collection, and in the thousands of comments it's gotten, quite a few expressed the same sentiment (a few thought *I* made the decision to show the montage and harangued me for this supposed decision, lol.) It would be lovely to see this specific performance, for reasons that are self-evident.
      EDIT: Link to said performance

    I went to a Late Show taping in June 2014, a little less than a year before this, and this is exactly how I remember Dave working with the audience. Thank you for posting this! I remember he kept slamming the microphone on the cameras and they have divots from years of him doing that, which you kinda see in the beginning of this clip. Hilarious. Thank you Dave.

    I cannot believe that was a whole 7 years ago on tomorrow. It's been a long and very treacherous 7 years, especially without the Late Show with David Letterman to help restore a sense of sanity in an otherwise upside down country, most of that time teetering on self-destruction.
