I was lucky enough to enjoy Soarin Over California during my Hawaii Grad Nite trip after graduating high school.
I moved to Oregon a year ago (financial troubles). I've never stopped missing the golden state.

I just went to Disney California Adventure. One of the Disney employees told me that there is a rumor that Soarin' over California may return in the next 8 years, but more improved.
I remember this ride,, you could actually smell the oranges

I think this suits CA Adventure Park while the Soarin' over the World fits Epcot's theme better
Epcot is basically World of Tomorrow.
You go around the world there anyway.
Reason why Radiator Springs fits California Adventure better than it would in Orlando.
In Cars 3 considering the final act they based that track off Daytona. It would be perfect there at Epcot or Tomorrowland.
This was my favorite ride! It was so magical, and the music was gorgeous. Watching this again brought tears to my eyes because Soaring Over The World was simply missing something this one had. I miss this ride so much.
I teared up too watching this right now...especially the scene with the oranges...haha. I agree, there is something very special about Soarin' Over California. I loved Soarin' Around the World but I really wish Disney California Adventure wouldn't have taken this ride away. I don't see why they couldn't keep both. Well maybe they will bring it back someday. Just like I heard the Electrical Parade is coming back to Disneyland. :)
I know! I wish they would have kept both! The oranges is actually the part that I think of, too. 😊 Hopefully they will bring it back, just like the Electrical Parade.

Honestly, both versions are amazing. But IMO Over California has this patriotic and unique atmosphere that I just can’t get enough of. Really showcases that even a state littered with problems like Cali has its strong points. Personally the Disneyland version should have both available in separate theaters, kinda like what Mission Space does at Epcot.
Whoever posted this PLEASE PLEASE don't ever take it down. I need a good quality vid of this ride to remember how much I loved riding it growing up. Soarin Around the World is a great ride but as a Cali native I'll always treasure this version

Jessica Cejnar Sorry, I meant CA as in California Adventure. I am a Cali native too, and I do agree. Although, I haven't actually been to many of these places in person. Maybe 3 or 4 of them.
No worries. I didn't realize that. I think one of the coolest things about Soaring Over California is for many people who are visiting Disneyland from out of the country or out of the state, it shows them other neat places in our state that they can visit.
Jessica Cejnar My friend from New York came to visit me when I went, and I always knew about this ride existing in Cal Adventure. So I knew I had to take her on it. Plus I always wanted to go on it too, because of the hype when it first came out. I'm really glad we did go on it! I didn't expect to tear up.

Tourists who come to Disneyland in California want to enjoy the state. They enter a park themed around California pride in order to enjoy it... not the whole world. Please, Disney, bring it back. And Tower of Terror too.

To be quite honest, I left my annual trip to Disneyland this year praying that when I came back they wouldn't have removed any of my favorite rides. I love you Disneyland, but please don't take away these wonderful attractions...
loki352 Yup I agree completely. I'm not at all happy about the changes to Soarin and Tower Of Terror. It seems like Disney is changing rides simply for the money and profit rather than keeping an integral part of many people's Disneyland experience alive. Thank god I got to ride both Soarin and Tower of Terror in original form. I feel bad because my future kids will never be able to truly experience gems like Soarin over California and Tower of Terror.
loki352 I heard that one of the reasons why they replaced tower of terror was because their contract with NBC (or whoever owns the twilight zone) was over, and needed to pay a gazillon dollars to get it back, probably more than it would cost to rebuild the ride, so that's what the did. Rebuild it, that is.
John Mathiason Yeah CBS owns The Twilight Zone which is what the tower of terror is based on. CBS did charge quite a bit to have the rights back. However, I think the change was because the Disneyland CEO felt that California Adventure didn't have enough Marvel in the park. Plus, it was a win considering that Disney already owns all of the Marvel properties. It's still sad though
Definitely need to bring back this original Soarin!!! Music and effects are better than the new one!

The whole hanger-style queue really completes the experience, makes you feel like your stepping into real aviator's shoes
People ask me why I love to fly, i just send them to this video. The part with the Thunderbirds is one of the best experiences I've ever had at Disney, period.

Absolutely a beautiful ride. One of my favorites and it's in my top 10 for sure. Love the theming in the queue lines and the soundtrack is amazing.

I've gotta know. Is there anybody else who gets choked up on this ride? It happens to me right around the orange grove, but even without the visuals I get teary-eyed just listening to the music at the same spot. I have no idea why this happens except that I heard that the composer Jerry Goldsmith said that when he rode the attraction w/o music it made him get choked up. Does this happen to anyone else?
i dont choke up, but i feel very happy inside :P i know that my dad comes close to crying when he goes on the ride. Everyone's different :)

Sxnzy I don't mean to minimize your experience, but I think I feel happy on just about all Disney 'rides.' But this one is different for me, I actually start to feel choked up. I just found this at Wikipedia that might explain it a little. "Both versions of the ride [EPCOT and CA ADVENTURE] use the same orchestral score by composer Jerry Goldsmith, who is said to have come down from his first ride in tears. "
Aaron, I not only tear up, but I cry. Quietly. I have been going here every October for the past 21 years...not as much in recent Octobers, but it is not only my childhood memories tied to this place, but my sons as well. This ride, when I ride it, or watch it on youtube, has this same effect on me.
I love this ride! It showcases how beautiful the golden state is.

Everyone was so friendly and the Disney Parks are brilliant. California is the 1st overseas place I have been to and the L.A basin is awesome. loki352 Completely agree, it just seems like Disney is removing all of the charm and warmth of California which is really sad. Hell, they may as well not even call it California Adventure anymore due to how many elements have been stripped away. R.I.P Soarin & Tower of Terror.
k.jcole I personally like the change to Soarin around the world. Tower of terror will be missed, but GOG seems pretty good, but still can't replace it

@@dragonfire101g I completely disagree with you. Soarin' over CA is what made it special from Florida and other Soarin's. Tower of Terror fit with the theming and generally was a good ride. Now, Soarin's just a complete CGI mess, and the ToT replacement is an eyesore in the DCA skyline. Like... it looks terrible and out of place, at least until marvel land opens... >.>
Now, the one that I'll let slide is Incredicoaster, because it's really cool how they fit A STORY into a coaster, and just generally looks pretty nice. Still not really a "California Adventure" anymore... I guess "©Alifo®nia Adventu®e?

Agreed. I went last week for the first time since the conversion and man did they screw this up. Not good flow at all like this film, it relies too much on cgi throughout, the transitions are dumb and more cgi for those, it's just terrible. Also the new music sucks. SUCKS. This was perfection. I have no reason to go on it again the next time I visit the parks. So sad.
Infrared Sight I couldn't agree more. I miss this terribly, and I wasn't awed by Soarin Around the World. It doesn't have the heart that this one had.

This ride was my childhood. First rode it as a little kid back when DCA first opened. This ride meant everything to me. So sad it's gone now. But I guess change is good. only got to ride it 2 times before it closed. I will forever cherish that.
I agree. It really takes me back to my childhood and makes me feel like I'm there. We went to Disneyland and California Adventure almost every weekend when I was little. I got so tired of going and wanted to go to the park instead, but now we can't afford it and I would give anything to go back. I didn't appreciate this when I had the chance and now it's too late. :'( Now I look back and so many of my favorite California Adventure memories were related to this ride.

This is the coolest, awesome, and the best ride attraction at Disney's California Adventure theme park it was so much fun riding on it.
I like Soarin' Around the World but i LOVE Soarin' Over California! When we were in the parks March 2020 and they were showing the CA version, I went 10 times in the a 3 day visit. I hope once the parks reopen they open up with the better version of this attraction.

I heard that they are making Soarin' Over California to simply Soarin'. Pretty much they are making the scenes in Soarin' Over California global instead of just California based scenes.

+verkzkillsz Yeah but in 2016 they're changing the film to and name to Soarin' over the World and it'll have landmarks and such from places all around the world. And they changed the quality of the film and have it 24fps now.

Can't stop listening to the music for this, it's way over a year until I visit the states and DLR for the first ever time, but it just looks incredible, I'll definitely be making Soarin my first and last stops!

I always love the original Soarin' Over California attraction at Disney's California Adventure theme park it's my number favorite in this theme park. I love the smell of oranges, ocean breeze, the view, ocean blues, the city lights of Los Angeles, and the best part that I really love most of all is the final part is the Disneyland Anaheim California theme park it always gets in tears when I watched that final and those weren't tears of sadness those are my tears of HAPPINESS even butterflies were flying around inside of my stomach it always gets me in a very happy and positive mood. Every time when I watched this clip on You Tube it makes feel I want to go back on that ride and seeing both theme parks again whenever this COVID-19 is over I really do missed both of those theme parks a lot but unless they made them less expensive to get in not in a higher price it's too difficult to get in. Please let there be Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure to open their gates once again (sniff, sniff) I missed them especially Disneyland.
I love this ride! This was my favorite ride at DCA and I kind of love that this video is so old school that the outside facade was still Condor Flats. I really miss this ride because, I only had a chance to go on it once, but the replacement is not nearly as good.
Haven't even been on "Soarin Around The World" yet & already miss "Soarin Over California"....:(

I went on this ride last week and I loved it! :)
The new Soarin film does NOT do this attraction justice. I saw the film for it yesterday and it's nothing in comparison to this one. Hopefully it doesn't do well because rumor is they'll bring this version back to CA Adventure if the new one doesn't do well!!
Lorena Villalobos I remember the original soarin from when I was a kid and I returned to CA adventure last week and the new Soarin is amazing! I like it much better than the original, but both are wonderful! ☺️
They need to go back to 70mm IMAX film... there is nothing digital that can remotely replicate it.

I'm fine with people having lots of fun at Disneyland and screaming all they want ( I do it myself) but that's if they are on Space Mountain, Thunder Train, Matterhorn, etc....but on this ride you just want to enjoy it and not hear a little kid screaming every 5 seconds. Maybe the part with the golf ball swinging straight at you is understandable but when you are soaring over the ocean waves no.

That was awesome! I love this ride so much. I wish Disney would have left this one too. Why can't they just keep both versions? You either get Soarin' Over California or Soarin' Around the World...you know just like Star Tours. Each time you get on Star Tours the ride is never the same. That would have been so great. I loved the new ride too but I really miss this one as I'm a California native.
Anyway, thank you for filming this, it was great. Just wish that girl wouldn't have been screaming so much :)
I keep praying they'll bring it back. I remember hearing a rumor that in a few years they would switch one theater back (but I would prefer they did both). With the removal of Tower of Terror, I'm starting to think they don't understand the purpose of a park themed around California pride.
@@loki3523 I doubt they'll bring it back... I think they upgraded the theater system when they revamped the ride film, which probably made the old one incompatible... Still hope for one though :/
