This told the truth between real performers and imitators. If you can sing live and sound like the cd without inhancements you are a true entertainers.

I keep seeing the original Stylistics but always wondered what happened to Russell, now I know he's doing what he does best - Singing!
Wow. Still sounding great after all of these years. I tell you Russell has one of the most beautiful voices and it's so amazing how he's taken good care of his gift from God. I Grew up on The Stylistics music back in the '70's. So much great music from that era, and The Stylistics' right there in the mix.
Russell has gotten better with age because: he took a year to rest his voice, he doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, runs each day, stays on healthy diet.... and he sings daily in his studio....cuts recording albums.... Really takes care of himself with the help and support of his wife of over 50 years..... while the Voices of the " other two" have gotten overtaxed and pitchy and Crack according to those who have seen them lately. Russell is real deal.
I just wish that Russell Thompkins jr had recorded more songs in his beautiful tenor voice. He does on his solo albums he cut after leaving the group and going on with his new Stylistics.

I shot lots of pictures and when he sang this song ... I lost it ... started crying it was so awesome hearing this live! Held that camera to my eyes so no one saw my tears ... but others around me looked pretty choked up too. Love it! Thank You!

A friend of mine caught Russell Thomkins' Stylistics with The Whispers. They met Levell Degree of heWhispers catching their show. He told him every night he came out just tohear this great voice. Thats one helluva compliment.
The first time i saw Russel jr. and the original Stylistics was in N.Y.C. when they made their first hit "You're A Big Girl Now". They gave a mini concert of their first songs on 112th st.and Madison ave. in the Taft prodjects [East Harlem]. The next time was at the Appollo with the "Godfather of Soul" James Brown in 1971. Great show.
I remember seeing him and the original group here in my hometown Cleveland at the Front Row and they gave a stellar performance. That was one of the best concert I had ever been to. Russell sounds the same as he did in 74. He has not missed a beat. What a gift he has. Thank you so much. I remember that night vivdly. It was a beautiful experience.
