RDNA 4 will be mediocre at best with no card matching the 7090 XTX, so Amd will keep prices high for the flagship 7000 series and drop their pants for 8000 series. It might backfire on them for sales. Also Battlemage will get on par with 8000 series as they will be less powerful. It seems like Amd is struggling in the gpu market, they sold very few 7000 series cards.

That being said most 4070 gpus were gimped with a 256 bit bus and using DLSS (frame generation) as a crutch, so Battlemage flagship should be on par. Nvidia is likely to gimp the 5000 series, except for 5090.

@@kurtwinter4422 the A770 has on par compute with all the 256 bit 4070s, so flagship Battlemage should surpass it and may get close to a 4090. Arc has to survive, its our only shot at spanking Nvidia. Maybe Amd will bounce back down the road.

    Nvidia 5060
8GB VRam, 128-bit Bus, performance on par with a 4070, for let's be real probably $400 USD
If this shit turns out to be true (and ALL of the problems ARC had are gone... AT LAUNCH) and yes, that's a big IF. IF these rumors are true and Battle Mage lives up to the hype and the pricing is what is being predicted this is going to be a market COUP... Intel will RULE the lower end of the market which is the end of the market 75% of us are actually going to be interested in. Nvidia (and AMD) have been offering dogshit products at the lower end of the market FOR YEARS. A 16GB card with a 256-Bit bus that doesn't kill bandwidth offered at a price point below $300 USD is something Nvidia/AMD are not willing to do, and it's something a lot of people want. IF Intel actually pulls that off there are going to be a lot of people going team blue.

We need to go back to 300 watts max for flagship GPUs, allowing us to undervolt too

@@oysterhead5150 we are seeing Battlemage drivers getting pushed to Linux, so discrete Battlemage should be coming. Intel is competing with Nvidia and Amd at the enterprise and consumer grade gpus level. Plus AI needs parallelism between CPU, iGpu and discrete Gpus. Intels Deep Link tech already has parallelism between iGpu and discrete. If they get rid of discrete Arc than they shoot themselves in the foot. Their foundry business is losing billions but will be put into a subsidiary so Arc should be able to move forward. Plus the US military needs Intel, they have to succeed and will be given the resources needed. The Feds can print money but let’s hope the $$$ doesn’t crash.

Unless Intel can actually provide a card that is both significantly faster than at least a 4080 and sell it for significantly less can this have any effect on the current market. The only way to do this currently is for Intel to lose money on the sale of the cards. Right now Intel is in no position to do this. If they tried the shareholders would have a meltdown of epic proportions. It seems that Intel can make a card that can compete at the mid to mid high level. Especially on price to performance. But that means nothing. The same people that refuse to buy AMD regardless of price to performance will refuse to buy Intel GPUs too. That is currently, for better or worse, clearly nearly everyone.

A770 has 32 Xe cores. Predicted top Battlemage has predicted more than 32 Xe2 cores. Xe vs Xe2 already is 50% jump in performance. I've seen rumors of 40 Xe2 cores if not more for the top Battlemage. Now we are closing to double the performance of the first gen GPU's.
A770 GPU clock speed is 2.1 GHz. The upcoming BMG-G21 that is predicted to be the replacement for the A750 and has specs reaching to 2.85 GHz. So we should expect 3 GHz and above from the top Battlemage performer. Then there is the Memory speed/Bandwidth from 17.5 Gbps/560 GB/s from A770 to 19 Gbps/608 GB/s from the top Battlemage.
Now add Intel Application Optimization (APO) that promise 10-50% gain with top INTEL CPU. Don't forget that INTEL ARC via REBAR uses 2 silicon architecture taking the advantage of both silicon and doubling the performance. For example i7-13700k 253W (max) + A770 225W (max) = 478W (max). In general Wattage = performance. It is a good indication now that the clock speeds are predicted to match the competitions clock speeds.
Plus with two silicon architecture there is no queuing or waiting meaning every frame is perfect. A770 in reality already gives you better experience on 4k than 4070ti. Current testing doesn't give you the performance of 2 silicon combined performance or recoccine architecture where you don't have queuing or waiting. To beat you need at least double the FPS count from AMD/Nvidia single silicon architecture where CPU plays only very small part. Hence insane Wattage like 450W from 4090 or the predicted 600W from 5090.
INTEL is cooking something big for sure. Don't forget that Arrow Lake plays a huge part also. Battlemage predicted Wattage is 250-275W. So it looks like it will be close to 4080/5080 cards with combined wattage of 500-550W.Arrow Lake max Wattage is predicted to be max 250-275W. It would make sense to match the Wattage on GPU and CPU to avoid bottlenecks. So when talking about Battlemage you should also add the Arrow Lake into the picture because it is going to be big part of the performance. Also new Motherboards for the Arrow Lake most likely have enhanced REBAR for pairing. Would make sense.
    4090 24gb VRAM 384 bit bus 450W
    4080 16gb VRAM 256 bit bus 320W
    4070ti 12gb VRAM 192 bit bus 285W
    a750 8gb VRAM 256 bit bus 225W
    a770 16gb VRAM 256 bit bus 225W
As a summery I think we are looking at doubling the Alchemist performance. Potential also gives hope that it might even be more.

    • @paulboyce8537
      @paulboyce8537 2 часа назад

Price point for the top Battlemage I predict is $500 (for reference 4080 +$1300). But here is the catch. You need top Arrow Lake CPU to get everything from it and that is a new build $500 for the CPU and $500 for the Motherboard. That's $1500 as a round ruff estimate. Now it doesn't look that cheap anymore. But if this combo competes with 4080/5080 then it starts to look extremely good value if you doing a new build. Also when the Wattage of the 4080/5080 are 320W/predicted 400W and add the Wattage of the CPU it is looking very similar in power cost. Arrow lake Wattage predicted Wattage is 250-275W. Top AMD CPU 170W. Battlemage prediction is 250-275W.

    • @amindamok

That wont happen. Intel and AMD have a legal obligation to cross license their patents to each other. Unless the government steps in and forces them to also license them to nVidia they have no hope of competing in the x86 space. Even if that did happen they would likely also have to share their tech with Intel and AMD in that process. The number of hurdles are extremely significant. Even with unlimited money it would be extremely difficult. The only reason that Apple can even kind of get away with it is they have created a walled garden. nVidia doesn't have luxury to attempt the same thing unless they want to also start directly competing with Apple. That would be very unwise.

I'm certainly interested to see where Intel goes with these. Personally I'm on the higher echelon of things, waiting for that 5090. But I could certainly see myself building out some decent budget rigs for family or what not using something like these ARC cards. I wouldn't mind building out a rig for my sister, and maybe upgrading my dads older PC.
In the process of building out a new system for myself, just waiting on Intel 15th Gen and well that RTX 5090.. I was hoping to have my build done by December, but it's looking more and more like RTX 5000 won't be out till after CES.
Heck if Battlemage were to releases this year, I may get it as an intermediary till the 5090 drops. My dad or my roommate could do well with a simple GPU upgrade lol.

Recent leaks are suggesting a 12v 2x6 Power connector. But either way I'm building a full new system from scratch, I won't be skimping on anything.
I'm working on getting out of OTR trucking and into local work atm.(Like garbage truck or towing) So I'll be going from laptop back to a desktop. Not just building a new PC, I'm completely overhauling my room as well to accommodate my planned setup. Already got some new furniture, new peripherals, and my PC case.
All I've got left to acquire now is the hardware going into my PC case, and a nice TV. Doing more of an HTPC setup in my room rather than a desk.
Been living in the cab of a truck over the road for 10 years.. tired of that lol. Tired of being limited by a laptop as well. Haven't had a proper desktop setup since, so I ain't holding back. I want to actually enjoy this "4k Gaming" people speak of lol. I'm no longer gonna be a slave to the road..
