Nvidia is just nerfing the 16gb 5080 so they can sell a lot of 5090s before the 5080 ti comes out with 24 gigs of VRAM. No one would buy a 5090 if the 5080 was 24 gb of vram.

The problem with 5000 series is the overall increase in power consumption. 5090 consume 33% and 5080 consume 25% more power than the previous gen and their expected performance increase is only around 40%. They can do that for desktop but laptop has power limitation. If 5000 series laptop has the same 175W power limit, then 5090 laptop performing around 4070ti or 4070ti super is very plausible.

If specs are true, they will make gap between 5080 and 5090 even larger than it is between 4080 and 4090 which is already biggest gap between 80 and 90 GPUs that ever been. Usually 80series cards had gaming performance very slightly behind 90series for much lower price. This is not good for gamers, because lower class cards are getting barely any improvements meanwhile flagship cards are getting massive gains resulting in huuuuge gap and with all demanding nextgen games and 1440p-4K highrefreshrate monitors there is only one card that will run these games in high fps with high resolution, which is standard now. We should be pushing to make 4K/240hz OLED gaming standard.
I really want a 5090. It’s THE card I’ve been waiting for for VR. I want to pair it with a headset that runs at 7680 x 2160 90hz, and I want to play path traced titles this way without using DLSS since the artifacts DLSS produces are much more noticeable in VR. Though, I genuinely think for flat screen games, the 5090 is likely going to be the first card capable of true photorealism at a playable framerate. I’m excited to see what future cards do, but I likely won’t be upgrading from the 5090 for a minimum of 3 generations after getting it. I would rather get a 5080 to save the money and then get a 6080 the year after, but it doesn’t make sense to do that because a 5080 is likely going to cost $899 or $999, and a 6080 will likely not eclipse the 5090 in performance, but will also likely be more expensive than the 5080. So at a minimum, 5080 + 6080 costs $1,899, or I could just have a 5090 from the start and not wait 2 years extra for $1,799. I eventually expect the photorealism movement to pass once it is achieved and stable for awhile, and that eventually games run on future high end cards will incorporate features that exceed reality and become their own thing entirely. I basically think that as graphical power goes up, capabilities will follow a spectrum that takes the form (stylized -> photorealistic -> hyperstylized). I’ve been waiting for photorealism since I was a kid, but I am also excited for the hyperstylization that will likely be possible with high end cards in the mid 2030s.

@@MarcoGiacon I’ve never bought a flagship card before. The most expensive card I’ve ever purchased was the GTX1080 for $549. I wasn’t interested in buying the 4090 at all, and still am not. The 6090 is going to be faster than the 5090 by a lot probably, sure, but in order for my computer to not bottleneck it, I would likely need to replace my CPU and motherboard, and I don’t think doing all that is worth it for a boost in performance over what is already a card that is much faster than the 4090. I don’t expect to upgrade again until 2030 at a minimum, but likely it will be a motherboard/cpu/RAM overhaul and I’ll swap back in the 5090 to the new build and keep it even longer. I might end up selling it at some point and replacing it with like, an 8070 or 9070 (if they’re even called that) if they have the same or better performance with lower power consumption, but I don’t think an actual true upgrade will be worth it until the mid 2030s
I think all the people who went out and bought the inflated 4090 that was sold well over MSRP and people selling them on at $2000 was exactly what Nvidia was hoping. Now they know there is the demand and what people are willing to spend, so they can just cut out the middle man and just charge $2000+ right out of the gate. Plus if these specs are to believed, the 5090 is getting double the memory of the 5080, and almost double the speed, so would justify them doubling the price of the 5090 compared to the 5080.

If you are starting out with a new build it's going to be a hit, but if you are already into high-end gaming it's more than likely that you have a RTX 4080 or 4090 and can use it for a trade or sale. I have a friend giving me $1,300 for my 4090, so dishing out $500 to get the best VR gaming is worth it to me. I am just happy to see a good update at this point, thank you.

I thought the new GDDR7 were going to be 3GB memory modules instead of 2GB. Wouldn't the RTX 5090 be a 384-bit bus again but with 32GB of memory (up from 24), and the RTX 5080 have a 256-bit bus with 24GB (up from 16)?

For me when i bought my GPU last year i check so many prices but NVDIA prices are just not affordable at all. 4080 is almost 13 to 1500$ where i live nevermind the 4090 which is around 2300$ i can get the best card in AMD and have great performance which is what i did and i do not regret at all. Not one bit excited anymore for any RTX cards.

For me the 7900XTX is like 50€ cheaper on average compared to the 4080 Super (1150€ vs 1200€) but I would rather pay a bit more to get the 5080 since AMD left high-end. But if the MSRP goes beyond 1000USD then prices in my country gonna go through the roof so 7900XTX is going to be the way...

As far as pricing this channel (Psychologically Challenged ) is way off . 2k/2.2k will be the AIB price in the USA , rest of the world outside of EU/UK/Japan will be seeing $2500 easily on a 5090. Many countries don't have national retailers or multiple retailers, many markets get a very limited supply, best quality units go to USA/EU/UK/Japan and many countries have high import taxes.

Most users who have a 4090 will use it for general PC tasks such as gaming, 3D rendering, video editing, 3D animation, etc. Those tasks can still make use of 24GB of VRAM. It is unlikely that most users who currently own a 4090 will use it to run AI/enterprise workloads.

As far as 600w, guarantee we’ll be able to power limit to 70-80% to get virtually the same frames, which would bring TDP to ~450w. Glad I picked up a Corsair sf1000.
Good thing is new Intel CPUs are coming down in power draw so it evens out for total system draw for people going that direction this gen.

I thought the new GDDR7 were going to be 3GB memory modules instead of 2GB. Wouldn't the RTX 5090 be a 384-bit bus again but with 32GB of memory (up from 24), and the RTX 5080 have a 256-bit bus with 24GB (up from 16)?

For me when i bought my GPU last year i check so many prices but NVDIA prices are just not affordable at all. 4080 is almost 13 to 1500$ where i live nevermind the 4090 which is around 2300$ i can get the best card in AMD and have great performance which is what i did and i do not regret at all. Not one bit excited anymore for any RTX cards.
@@papawithgaming It’s the same way where I live, the most expensive 7900xtx is a few hundred dollars cheaper than the cheapest 4090. I don’t really use ray tracing so I don’t really care for Nvidia anymore.
For me the 7900XTX is like 50€ cheaper on average compared to the 4080 Super (1150€ vs 1200€) but I would rather pay a bit more to get the 5080 since AMD left high-end. But if the MSRP goes beyond 1000USD then prices in my country gonna go through the roof so 7900XTX is going to be the way...

I don't WANT high end GPUs to cost shit. Or guns or cars. But i freaking want them. I'll buy a 5090 or AMD equivalent and then eat ramen for a year, its fine if I get to experience the pinnacle of high resolution/ high refresh gaming for my 800 game steam library so that I can enjoy my games even more than I would other wise. My 4K 240hz OLED monitor i sold my kidney for makes me so freaking happy. Some games are freaking literally breath taking and look remastered in higher resolution and refresh rate with OLED

A 16gb 5080 secures 4090 owners. It also makes the 5090 the only choice for 4k full RT gaming. Expect the 5090 to be astronomically priced.
As you can see, the gap between 80 and 90 series is even bigger. Just make sure you have a good power supply and hopefully the 5090 will come with 2 12VHPWR connections to balance that 600 watts.

As far as pricing this channel (Psychologically Challenged ) is way off . 2k/2.2k will be the AIB price in the USA , rest of the world outside of EU/UK/Japan will be seeing $2500 easily on a 5090.
Many countries don't have national retailers or multiple retailers, many markets get a very limited supply, best quality units go to USA/EU/UK/Japan and many countries have high import taxes.

4k does not really need 32gb my 4090 at 24gb gets hardly used at 4k think its mostly for AI etc workloads.

Most users who have a 4090 will use it for general PC tasks such as gaming, 3D rendering, video editing, 3D animation, etc. Those tasks can still make use of 24GB of VRAM. It is unlikely that most users who currently own a 4090 will use it to run AI/enterprise workloads.
