Hi please is it right to break tablet into two and give half to your patient if the available dose is 5mg and prescriber is 2.5mg or you will have to code it
hello, do you classify drugs without start and finish date as incorrect prescription?? for example clarithromycin? And again, if a drug Has been given as a once only medicine by 9;00, would you still give it under regular medicine, even if the frequency is OD and it is due your time (12;00)?
Hi, ideally, there should be a start date or continuous instead of finish date. For OD medication given as stat at 9am, it can not be given at 12. It will need to be coded 5 - stat dose given.
Hi, so in essence you mean if the prescription maybe doesn’t have time , (so you don’t know when it’s due) I can’t code it 6 right? Only if it’s written my time I would definitely code that ..
may I ask BD means twice a day but does it need to be separate 12 hours? also is there a specific time frame for qds or just 4 times a day would be ok?
Check the BNF for the dose interval. Some medications are strictly 6 hourly (qds) or 12 hourly (bd) as the case may be due to there bioavailability however some can be given at different intervals in as much it's taken 4 times or 2 times in a day.
very educative.thanks.

This wouldn't happen in OSCE , the medications are not real tablets.

Hi, the timing based on the instructions on your scenario will be stated clearly on the Medication chart. Yes BD- 12hrly, Qds- 6hourly
@@unifiedosce5580 if qds but time frame given is 08 12 18 22 so this is not valid n legible ?
i also came for the same question, did you find the answer?
