Thank you for your video, very usefull. today did the headlights from my dads car, an old Toyota previa 2005, the headlights were a problem for the Dutch APK, it woulb be disapproved. But now they look as new. Did make some pictures, but i con not place them here.

Hello EJO, yes a long time ago that I visit your channel but many other things to do and no time at all to watch RUclips, I have stored for now about 76 video's to watch!! Holy Moses I was to long away I'll think, ha ha ha
But this is great stuff, we have on our car (21 years old) still glass and polish them also sometimes, next year the car had to go and we buy another, brand? we dont know yet.

I bought a 1,50 euro bottle made for this problem. After a good rubbing ( approximately 8 min ) it was 90 % better. Maybe if i give it another go it will look the same as the new headlight on the other side. Amazed me how good it works without doing anything else than rinse it off with water. I do expect it to turn bad again soon as there is no new protection layer on it. We'll see.
Pretty sure you need a 2K component clear coat to make it stay fresh over the years. Great way to make it look good before selling and what not though :)

Yeah 2k for sure
Also when you sand you finish with 800 grit and use horizontal strokes.
It gives the clear coat something to grab on to and prevents dripping.
You might have to polish it out if you get orange peel but using the 2k glamour
Makes it factory new and it will last for years.
Tip EJO. Don't use background music. Its distracting and bloody annoying. Better sound with respect to your voice would be good.

Great video and lovely results! Unfortunately the problem I have is that the lens has deteriorated badly inside as the cover to access the bulbs was missing. Any advice on how to clean the inside? From other videos I've seen you have to remove the lens by heating up the glue around it with a heat gun. Thanks for sharing!

I’ve polished one of my headlights now using this method, except I had to do it by hand since my machine is broken (I don’t recommend it but it went okay). All in all I’m happy with the results, I got most stone chips out. However I still have a slight “haze” and a layer of minuscule scratches left. Polishing did wonders though, but it didn’t get that last bit.
Just wanted to ask if this is expected, or if I didn’t finish with fine enough polish? Or if I understandably can’t get that last 1% pop without a machine? I tried both menzerna medium cut and plast x from an old kit I had. Both helped from my 2500-3000 sandpaper, but not all the way.
To be honest this was far from being 100%, sometimes they are just to far gone. But if they get noticeably better, I think it's well worth it! 👍

Väldigt fint resultat, misstänkte också att klarlack på burk inte skulle nå upp till din standard. Nu väntar vi på mer ifrån denna bil :)

Har du någon uppföljning med hur bra det höll med tiden? Det finns många som fixat lamporna med div olika metoder. Och alla ser oftast bra ut direkt efteråt. Men hur ser det ut efter en vecka, en månad och efter halvår? Jag tror aldrig jag ser någon tydlig uppföljning.... Kanske har du gjort det redan, annars vore det super och säkert stor hjälp för många.
Bilen såldes feb 2022. Såg fortfarande riktigt bra ut när den såldes. 👍

Blir plasten känsligare för UV efteråt eller? Sugen på att testa men vet inte hur ofta man isf behöver skydda lyktorna eller vad som händer om man inte gör det.
De blir känsligare för UV stråling efter detta. Därför är det viktigt att skydda med något långvarigt skydd. Keramisk skydd, klarlack, eller en UV skyddsfilm över strålkastaren.
De kommer vara känsligare än nya lyktor då nya har ett UV skyddande skikt. Det skyddet var dock förstört för länge sedan på så pass nedgångna lyktor som dessa. Så precis som en kommenterade här, efter man har slipat och polerat är det viktigt att skydda, helst med en keramisk coating då de även tål värmen som utvecklas. 👍
Såg att biltema hade fått in en fordonstork, är detta något du kommer testa?
