Having just heard the entire album today, I can happily confirm the rest of the songs are amazing. There's so much content in them and some unexpected twists. I'm trying to compare AVFTTOTW to previous albums but I can't, which is a good thing imo.
I love the creative headspace they’re in. I hope that as I refine my playing and writing abilities, I find myself with other musicians who are on the same wavelength like these guys are. They seem to quickly agree on things, not out of indifference but like-mindedness and appreciation. That sounds like heaven, so it’s no wonder why the musical result sounds so heavenly as well.
Dream Theater is a epic Band,they can take any song and make it amazing.They are so talented as a group,I really like there musical sound. That's why they been around for so long!!!! the production is so brilliant the second round of that opening riff the guitar is lowered a tad and the synth is loudened love the subtle spacey texture that comes in. mad
My favorite part was how you could audibly hear the mic gain level increase during the JM responses because he was so quiet 😆 Jokes aside, great interview!
The material on the last album DOT gave me alot of confidence in the increasing cohension in DT with Mangini. I still don't think the songwriting is close to the stuff they did in the 90's but that was 25 years ago. Progressive bands don't play the same album over and over again and nor would we want them to. Looking forward to the drop.
I'm looking forward to this new one and seeing them live again. It has to be really hard to come up with new ideas after all this time and so I understand why the want to revisit old ideas and see what they can do to update them. Great band!

I love this band. Next to Tool, Metallica, And Rush. The musical journey these men take you on is just astounding. I have a fond appreciation of their musicianship and the detail they bring to every album. And the emotion. I will admit i have cried listening to some of their songs. I have just grown to appreciate just how talented they really are. It's the one band whether i didn't like everthing on every record, I still look forward to new music from them every time they release an album. This is a band that should be in the Rock N Roll hall of fame along with Portnoy.
