I have had my new Tao DB27 for a little over a week. I'm 6'3 250 lbs and this thing rips with me on it no problem. I have changed the carb and put a big bore exhaust with heat wrap. This thing slays! Gonna mess with gearing front/rear next and put on a led lightbar for night sessions. Changed clutch lever and perch to msr quick adjust and new lever on brake side. When it needs a top end I plan on a big bore kit.
I just bought the Apollo x19 in part thanks to you and others posting up these great videos of Chinese bikes.
2 minutes in and stoked to see a new tao tao video. Myself and 2 buddies are waiting for it to come back in stock on amazon next month to buy ours. They're calling it x pro but it has tao tao graphics lol

You should get a new muffler for your Tao Tao I mgot the same bike and once you change the muffler it runs a lot better

Found your channel earlier this year as my brother and his homie bought a Tao DBX1 140 and the Apollo RFZ 125. Rode them both a lot this year, and been really leaning towards buying my own DBX1, as used bike prices in my area are ridiculous and outlandish for the most part.
I saw that Tao makes the 250cc DB26, I'm going to do more research on that bike and see if that would be a better option for me, as I'm 6'5" 200lbs.
Just heard your piece in this vid about the handling differences between the two bikes. I completely agree, and at first I couldn't see myself buying anything other than the Apollo for the handling. But I started getting into trail riding and the power and punch of the DBX1 made me sway over to liking it more. I enjoy the Apollo more on my track with tight turns though. DBX1 feels sloppy in that environment.

This reply may be a little late, but I just recently bought one and posted a comment on that video. I grew up with these Honda engines, so I wanted to try to point out what Tao Tao did wrong. Here is the comment I posted just yesterday.
Someone probably mentioned this already, but these Chinese knockoffs of the Honda design, are running the crankcase breather tube directly to the carburetor, probably for California emission requirements. Running it wide open for that long will apply enough vacuum to pull oil through that breather tube into the carburetor inlet. I saw similar gripes while I was trying to decide whether to buy one of these. I did buy one and one of the first things I did was to plug the port at the air filter and take the breather tube from the crankcase and run it downward, just like Honda did in their original design. The other thing I did while assembling was to flip the rear shock, so that the threaded adjustment is at the top, as it should be. I think you would have more fun on a 250
I would say it depends on the type of riding. If you are talking street, then fine, but if you want to do technical off-road riding, you will get better much quicker on a smaller bike.

With the mods I've done on my DB27,I'm 250lbs and it rips with me on it! Such a great little bike. And the entire engine accepts Honda parts,so your constantly improving it if something breaks.

My brothers own an Apollo x15 and an Apollo x18 and I own a dbx1, for me the only thing I like better on my Tao is the wider factory pegs, 140cc engine, and oil cooler. The handlebars are awkward, the suspension sucks... like its for an 80lb kid, the narrow seat is awful, kills the tailbone. The swingarm is sloppy out of the box. I do like it, but I wish I'd have just went Apollo. I'm also interested in the Peace Moto/X-Motos 125 though.
@@TyrelLeMan yeah I haven't seen much input regarding the xmoto, I didn't know if it was bc it was so new or what but i thought the detail of making all the extras black instead of silver makes the bike look pretty sharp.

I want to start riding I’m 14 and 5”4 and debating between the Tao Tao dbx1 140cc and the 125cc which one do you think I should get
I'm much older, but I got a KX80 when I was 14 and loved it. The Japanese bikes are crazy expensive now, that's why I just purchased the DBX1. I would recommend the 140, because the bike is the same size and the power isn't that much more. I believe the engine design is slightly better than the DB27 125 and it has an oil cooler which helps in low speed trails. baller cash yes I own one it’s running pretty lean but even when not running right I’m still having fun. Don’t worry about parts used generic parts and similar motor to the other main Chinese bikes. Put a mikuni carb on it and a uni air filter make sure you oil it 🤟🏽
