An assistant backstage is listening the entire time and wrote the message quickly after it was decided. The assistant wheels out the table and somehow the message is transferred from inside the table to inside the box at the last minute.
Amateurs everywhere. The trick is really simple. The night before the show you call the Doctor. He comes to you with the Tardis. You travel back in time to get a potion that makes you invisible by collecting the blood of a dragon (you have to slay the dragon with a frozen carrot otherwise the blood will turn into ants) from its left ankle. After that you travel to the Ellen show, hide in the audience (invisible) and write down what the people say. Once that is done all you have to do is go back to your original time and put the note in the box.
wow i cant wait to read the comments and see a bunch of amateurs who dont know the first thing about magic try and explain how these magic tricks are done! no one's allowed to have fun haha! awesome!
1: Not an amateur. 2: The person backstage who later wheels in the table is writing down the tweet. At 3:14 Justin hits a button with his right thumb on the table which opens a hatch inside the table. The bottom of the box is clearly opens me due to the off hinges. When he reaches his hand into the box you can hear the sound of plastic hitting plastic as he takes the cylinder out of the table and through the box. It's awesome at first when you think it is real. Less awesome, but still awesome, when you know how it is done. I still respect him for pulling off that trick so sneakily.
If anyone is still wondering how this is done, the table is key. An assistant is writing down all the answers as they get chosen by the audience, then put it in the table. He then puts the box on the table and transfers the note to the box. Which is also why he asks Ellen to go to the other side of the table for no reason (Other than so she can't reveal his "trick").
I could do that. All you have to do is write what to say on the beach ball with a note saying that they will give you 10,000$ dollars if you play along.
He wrote something on it and the Rachel girl was his friends sister because I know her and I asked her how he did it n if y'all don't be lev me her real name is Megan holder so there you have it. He was right there was something written on the beach ball so stop being so sensitive and have a nice day! :)
I love how I'm watching this video five years after it's been released and now all I have to do is to scroll through that comments and the magic is revealed.
it's quite an easy trick. someone from the crew writes the tweet and puts it INSIDE the table. then he places the box on top and rolls out the paper with his right thumb into the roll that was already in the box (3:12).
Definitely the message was brought to the stage from table (assistant wrote it), the gesture at 3:14 is how he inserted the tube/message from table into box. He could have opened the box without table, but needed table to get the message from assistant.
This is an awesome trick. The only thing I noticed was at 3:14 it appears that he pushes a button on the stand (it is audible also). Props to him for living his dream!
the sheet of paper is written by somebody behind the scenes, is then put in the table-leg of the little table he puts the box on (notice how he corrects the boxes position so its exactly in the middle of the table) and is then shot up into the tube in the box.
That's a great theory and all but you have one major problem. The tube is larger than what's supporting the table therefore it wouldn't even be possible to do so.
To the people saying he copied the guy from americas got talent, look at the upload date, this video is from 2012, the season with collins key was in 2013
All people were just normal people, nothing to do with the trick. But seriously, I'm a kid and I understand this trick. ITS OBVIOUS... Whilst the beach ball was going around, a backstage member was writing down the answers. When the box came down, a man brought a table but it was very thick. Inside the table there would have been a slot that opens where the sheet is placed inside. If you saw it, the magician positioned the box In a certain place so it was easy to access the paper. Once his hand was inside the box, the containers lid was open so he quickly put the paper in the container and it had an easy close system. Once he took his hand out, you can see the paper was folded. It had to be like that so they can fit it into the table slot, so they just went with it and did it one by one to show that it was part of the trick. At the end of the trick, he never moved the box because the hatch was still open. That is the explanation to the magic trick. Its sooo easy. *sighs* I wish I can see a magic trick which I don't understand :(
also think that u can hear the drop and i think his arm movement in the box suggests that he's putting the cap on. it's not a screw cap, but he turns the cap to open the tube.
Im not normally one to give things away but at 3:15 when he hits a button with his thumb was after the assistant went away and before the assistant went away the box was not yet placed on the table. So maybe the guy was writing everything back stage as it was being said. The whole "i had a dram where i was singing in tahiti" was just to take up time so he can finish writing backstage. After he was done writing maybe he stuck it in the tube under the table top since the table top is to skinny for a roll of paper. When he does whatever with his thumb it opens a compartment in the box and the table to the paper can go into through the leg and into the tube in the box
+DeadSilent Gaming true and i replayed it and i saw them look scared as if they are looking to see if anyone heard it and look at his right thumb he rubbed it against the box i think since the box is a little off the edge to the right he slipped the paper through BOOM Facts
Perhaps the message was stuck in the bottom of the leg of the table and he pulled it through there. He then somehow closed the tube with the message inside.
OK so no clockwork orange, but being able to afford these clever contraptions must be the bomb! I love the artifice even after I've worked it out. There is so much art in making 2D things look 3D and vice versa.
Here's my best guess on this: The box was just a decoy, and in reality, the message was written down by an assistant who slid over a table upon which he conveniently put the box. This message was then subsequently put inside of the table, likely in that cylinder supporting the table surface. Then, when he pulls the message out from there, he places it in the plastic canister (which is also cylindrical, conveniently) and puts the bottom part of the lid onto it, making it seem as if the canister was sealed to begin with containing the message. Or, alternatively, as others have suggested, the plastic was pliable and was actually inside of the cylindrical tube itself, allowing him to simply pull it up and have it expand, looking too big to have come from there. Obviously this was the key part of the trick, because he asks Ellen to stand on the opposite side where the box's lid is conveniently obscuring her vision of his sleight-of-hand.
MsPlymouthkid Perhaps you missed this part of my previous post, where I address that exact question: "Or, alternatively, as others have suggested, the plastic was pliable and was actually inside of the cylindrical tube itself, allowing him to simply pull it up and have it expand, looking too big to have come from there."
I think, there was someone sitting backstage and writing this paper. The names and the "Omg Ellen" were prepared and the Hashtag at the End too. And the paper was in a plastic... thing (I'm German, sorry :D) and I know a kind of elevator pushing the plastic.. thing with the paper inside into the box
Oh and I think that kind of elevator was under the table and when he pushed the button, the box opened for a moment and the plastic... thing slided into the box
Jerry Chen What would the key in his pocket have to do with that scenario? What Travis Paddock was clearly saying was that the box has a false bottom through which the paper gets pushed into the box from the trick table. The key in his pocket is entirely irrelevant.
Edi Javoric either way there is no way that is how the trick is done because the table the box is sitting on isn't wide enough to fit the tube that the tweet was in so the tweet had to be in there prior to being set down onto the table. If somebody doesn't 100% know how the trick is done then honestly shut up because it's annoying when people automatically think they are correct.
XxBlueChewxX Yeah I hear ya. I thought that too. I don't claim to know how its done. I have no idea, and I enjoy that I don't. But it would be possible that the tube was in the box the whole time, and the paper was the only thing pushed through the table, into the box, and into the tube. He then seals the note in the tube as he's getting it out and the rest is simple. There's a good chance that's not it, but I can't think of a different way, as everything was pretty clearly random and the note had to be written by someone between the audience suggestions and him opening the box. The table really is the only link between the box and anyone who could have written the note out-of-view.
Edi Javoric Agreed, though, I don't know the exact mechanics. Logic must be used. Ask why he has to "click" "push" something after he sets the box on the "flat" table that is delivered. Small trap doors and slots are easy mechanics. But watch David Copperfield's version --- so clean.
The table contains a thick underplate which can hold the sheet which was prepared as the show went on. The bottle has a side slit which is positioned vertically downwards in the box. When the lid is opened, a lever below the box pushes the folded sheet from the table into the bottle through the slit. Once the sheet is in, and the bottle is pulled out, the slit wont be visible because the material tries to regain its tension.clues:table thickness, soft material on it, folded sheet in round bottle.
it wouldve have been an incredible trick if the table was there already, somebody wrote the answers backstage and put it in secret slot when he pressed the button on 3:14 the slip went in the cylinder then he closed the bottom when he got it out.
Yet he put one hand in the box and that one hand grabbed at the middle of the container...If you are going to debunk something at least make it a viable answer.
At 3:14 you can hear something beep and then pop but more importantly you can see his right hand thumb pressing a switch 3 times. At 3:23 you can see the switch on the corner of the box. The paper was written on and put into the table, then the box is lined up on the table and the paper is fed into the box and jar.
The trick is in the table. His assistant writes up the stuff backstage and passes him the paper with the table and he is good enough to swap it. Bazinga!
If you want to know how these things are done, Derren Brown did this years ago in the show "An evening of wonders". What's more, he shows everyone how it was done.
SNAKY LOOk At his right thumb closely after he gets the table. He rolls open a compartment in the tabletop and it flips the paper from under the table, into the a slit in the plastic tube inside the box.
***** There is an invention called ' scanner ' , if you know what i mean . THERE IS A SMALL PRINTER inside of the box . a friend could've bluetooth printed it , and the ' glowing ' box was just for the show . Apprently the most akward thing is the plies in the paper which can be provoced by a ' procedure ' inside the box . He managed to get the focus out of the box after taking out the bottle and ' opening ' it . The message were already inserted in it . MAN there was no fucking technologie back at the days , and they kicked ass . Watch The Illusionist . 20th century fucking up shit ..
Oueslati Firas It's simpler than that. It is hidden in the table that comes after they announce their choices. An assistant writes what he hears, hides it in the table, brings it to the stage and that guy can access it through a box hidden hole or smt
Ummm did you not notice the tube it was stuck in? How did it go from the so called printer to a plastic tube with a top on it? Nice try Oueslati Firas and aekara1987
Usually the first assumption magicians make with a trick like this is that he has a marker stuck on his thumb. And then writes the answer on the back. So when this is what I'm expecting to happen, I only have to check if this is how he could have done it this time ... and yes, easily. He held the paper in his own hands for a long time. And very slowly flipped over each new part. Could have easily written each single word before flipping it over. Second magician I see on this show, and both times the tricks were 'classic' tricks with the same method as has been done over and over.
At 3:11 you can see a flat black rectangle on the table which may have the piece of paper under it. And then with some slight of hand he puts it in the tube.
Hint: The box is close to the ceiling for a reason and so is the ball being thrown around. While the slow minded humans are busy watching the ball, the box is implanted with a note that was written while everyone was giving answers.
so basically as he was opening it, you can see he presses something on his right corner and sets the keys down really fast allowing something on the table the person brought out to get inside the bottom of the box. The person who brought out the table probably was writing what the people were saying backstage and put the paper inside the table before he brought it out. Both the table and the box must be rigged with something.
Watch his right hand thumb just after 3:13. He straightens the box on the special table rolled out to him and then does something with his right hand thumb to get the paper to go from the table into his box. If you look closely you can see some sort of lever that he's flicking with his right hand thumb. I don't know the mechanics of this but the paper has to be coming from the table.
Without jumping to idiotic conclusions on the trick, I know it had something to do with the table. So can someone elaborate and explain? I'd love to know how it happened exactly :)
He's amazing. :) I have seen the same trick done by Collins Key. If I'm not mistaken, Collins appeared in America's Got Talent. He's pretty amazing too.
This means someone behind the curtain, in other words, the person who delivered the table, wrote the note as the audience came up with thee ideas for the three antecedents. There is a similar trick done with the same methodology on America's Got Talent somewhere, only instead of a table, the illusionist reaches for a ladder outside the stage. The Prestige to this trick is that the magician is always going to grab something off-stage at some point.
....too easy! Note was written and placed on the rolling stand. Box opens from the bottom to gain access to tweet. Would have been impressive if the he would have pulled it out of pocket, or straight from box, or sealed envelope.
But he pulled out a tube which of course may have not had to be unscrewed but he would have to put it in the tube which had to be in the box and I doubt it was like a fake screwed on lid
its a trick table, i think the when he pressed the button at 3:14, it lifted up part of the trick table so he reached into the trick table where someone wrote the note backstage.
The entire thing was a giant setup. All the people who had the pall where actors. The person holding the microphone was already sitting next to the first person that had the ball.
An assistant backstage is listening the entire time and wrote the message quickly after it was decided. The assistant wheels out the table and somehow the message is transferred from inside the table to inside the box at the last minute.
I also think lik that

Ohhhhhhh cool
how did he put the note in the table, i don't understand

the sheet of paper is written by somebody behind the scenes, is then put in the table-leg of the little table he puts the box on (notice how he corrects the boxes position so its exactly in the middle of the table) and is then shot up into the tube in the box.

I think the whole time someone was secretly pulling up the box while someone else was writing the tweet for him.
I think one of the audience members would call them out on that.
Plus they would need to unlock the box, write it and lock it before anyone knew it was gone...
Probably the box had another secret door on the top which could be accessed by the person who wrote out the tweet behind the scenes.
YOUR RIGHt
It's true. The guy who handed the table over wrote the tweets. JW still pulled off a brilliant sleight of hand trick though.

Excellent!!!!!!
it wouldve have been an incredible trick if the table was there already, somebody wrote the answers backstage and put it in secret slot when he pressed the button on 3:14 the slip went in the cylinder then he closed the bottom when he got it out.
Yet he put one hand in the box and that one hand grabbed at the middle of the container...If you are going to debunk something at least make it a viable answer.
Only the rolled paper is inside the pedestal of the table. The plastic tube is inside the box the whole time.
At 3:14 you can hear something beep and then pop but more importantly you can see his right hand thumb pressing a switch 3 times. At 3:23 you can see the switch on the corner of the box. The paper was written on and put into the table, then the box is lined up on the table and the paper is fed into the box and jar.
nooooo..... its MAGIC :P
The trick is in the table. His assistant writes up the stuff backstage and passes him the paper with the table and he is good enough to swap it. Bazinga!
The tweet is in the table. Someone writes it backstage. No Magic
yes, the giant plastic bottle was in the table, makes sense.
Starscream no, the paper was. he put it in the plastic bottle... it doesn't take too much time though
BackSlashAlex no magic tricks use magic
you are right. there is a slit on the plastic bottle and table. he pulls up the paper into the bottle .you can hear the paper sound
BackSlashAlex I
Collins Key did something like this on Americas Got Talent
This is FREEKIN awesome!!!
that was cool, lol!X3 Ellen looked like she was trying to catch what he did!X3
If you want to know how these things are done, Derren Brown did this years ago in the show "An evening of wonders". What's more, he shows everyone how it was done.
i watched that video but he didn't explain how he did it tho
maybe it was another video , do you have a link?
SNAKY LOOk At his right thumb closely after he gets the table. He rolls open a compartment in the tabletop and it flips the paper from under the table, into the a slit in the plastic tube inside the box.
Printer in box?
Second magician I see on this show, and both times the tricks were 'classic' tricks with the same method as has been done over and over.
we never said that he was the one who wrote it
This was good and I think they should get Moritz to come back on the show he did some really cool magic tricks 😀
That guy pulling out the mic on the coral girl was hilarious
At 3:11 you can see a flat black rectangle on the table which may have the piece of paper under it. And then with some slight of hand he puts it in the tube.
The Spikem it seems to quick to open the rectangle on the table, put it in the tube, then seal it.
He copied Collins Key who is a magician and performed in the American Got Talent
It's a trick used by many people way before collinskey
Actual Collins copied it from Criss Angel, who bought it from his friend who created it, Doug Malloy.
as if collins key invented it... the trick is around for decades
+Neon Ye there's ones like it too
Wrong. Justin did this before Collins did. This trick has been around since the 1980s.
Both the table and the box must be rigged with something.
wasn't this dude londons magician boyfriend on suite life on deck
clearly someone wrote while the audience was saying the things
Watch his right hand thumb just after 3:13. He straightens the box on the special table rolled out to him and then does something with his right hand thumb to get the paper to go from the table into his box. If you look closely you can see some sort of lever that he's flicking with his right hand thumb. I don't know the mechanics of this but the paper has to be coming from the table.
This was in America's got talent.
[BEWARE headphone users] 4:20 to 4:40
4:20 BLAZE IT M8
+JacobDivider / JxD91021 I r8 8/8 m8
+ANNA HEFNER its really loud
Without jumping to idiotic conclusions on the trick, I know it had something to do with the table. So can someone elaborate and explain? I'd love to know how it happened exactly :)
Synplexi he clics some sort of button at 3:14
Dianne Lexi ok
Wha
That boom mic lady is like a ninja!!
He was on Suite Life On Deck!! The magician that London crushes on!!!
not the box is the trick. the trick is the table on 3.13. when he klicks it, the paper gets in the box..
Right right. Its in a tube genius.
Guy up there writing what he saying
Guy up where? The box was locked since the very start of the show. He rolled his thumb on the table, and it put the tube into the box from underneath.
I love the fact that when he picks at random to throw the beach ball on one person goes for the ball each time
He's amazing. :) I have seen the same trick done by Collins Key. If I'm not mistaken, Collins appeared in America's Got Talent. He's pretty amazing too.
very simple trick
how do u do it then?
Žan Vargek Nope, as a magician I can assure you this is not how it is done.
Žan Vargek But the beach ball made everything at random.
Žan Vargek no one thinks its a simple trick
Amogh Rao Little hint-the secret in the Office Assistant
Wasn't he on suite life of deck???
Yes he was :)
We need to talk about that
This means someone behind the curtain, in other words, the person who delivered the table, wrote the note as the audience came up with thee ideas for the three antecedents. There is a similar trick done with the same methodology on America's Got Talent somewhere, only instead of a table, the illusionist reaches for a ladder outside the stage. The Prestige to this trick is that the magician is always going to grab something off-stage at some point.
standing ovation was indirectly for the one writing tweets backstage..
....too easy! Note was written and placed on the rolling stand. Box opens from the bottom to gain access to tweet. Would have been impressive if the he would have pulled it out of pocket, or straight from box, or sealed envelope.
But he pulled out a tube which of course may have not had to be unscrewed but he would have to put it in the tube which had to be in the box and I doubt it was like a fake screwed on lid
there's no way anyone can hide under that table without being seen
Lol, the black guy in the aisle with the selfie stick at 0:54 XD
It's not a selfie stick it's a mic so he can pick up the sound.…
Lol that cute old lady that took her time to get up n clap at the end lmaooo
SO GOOD!!!!
Someone backstage wrote it and put it on the table
Audience are stupid. If I was there il shout out DO IT AGAIN.....lol
I'm totally buying this trick! Master prediction system!
There's always someone with a mic sitting in the aisles when they're going to the audience...
its a trick table, i think the when he pressed the button at 3:14, it lifted up part of the trick table so he reached into the trick table where someone wrote the note backstage.
1:35
The new show on Netflix is called magic for humans and there is thing called "MAGIC FOR SUSANS" And the woman said her name was Susan
The entire thing was a giant setup. All the people who had the pall where actors. The person holding the microphone was already sitting next to the first person that had the ball.
AWESOME!
He copied Collins Key .
This video was posted in 2012, and Collins' video was in 2013.
O_O
I think its the other way around collin copied
muzikgurl362
whos to say he didnt use magic to go to the future, see Collins trick then came back to do it? :P you know how thats possible? MAGIC!
yes he did which made the trick less exiting bc i saw him in person doing the same trick
