They just took an idea of exploring areas beforehand to benefit in freelancer, and broke this idea in half. Otherwise, I quite like the new mode, not being restricted by SA feels very refreshing.
I've also encountered the safehouse glitch, next to the counter. The same key for customization is used to 'clean counter' and it enters a weird state. But if you stay far enough from the counter action and are only able to get the customization action, you're good.
7:50 How is that scummy? A few tiny completely optional cosmetic packs in exchange for tons of free content and the most replayable gamemode ever? Did you forget how many months IOI has spent making this content for us to get for free?
I think the cosmetic packs are not a bad addition since they also grant you extra safe house decorations. Besides, IOI is no longer getting money from the access passes or DLCs since Hitman is all one big bundle now, so it makes sense they add these packs to still make some extra money. Not sure why you think it's scummy if I'm being entirely honest
I personally dislike it because it feels like the hitman series has gradually gotten more and more DLC that I am not interested in but is constantly shoved in my face. I get that the devs need to make ends meet but having to scroll through cosmetic decorations that I do not own just reminds me of all the disc space and loading time its taking up for no reason.

Actually the sieger 300 ghost is still the best sniper, you can do the collateral objective by first shooting a non target, and then while you are still slowing down time just shoot your target and done you should be able to do this with any sniper that has the marksman perk
Freelancer is so buggy right now. I've experienced remote emetic devices not working, NPC's seeing through walls, and emetic darts being lethal. I've seen some streamers come across even stranger bugs, like picking up objects straight from NPC's, permanently animated NPC's, and duplicating items. IOI has got some patches to get working on.
Amazing guide I love it... I played in the CTT, but had no idea the item that they drop and meeting is different between suspects lmaoooo, so thank you very much for that info :) I only disagree with the small maps for showdown, yeah they are better, but not for the last one for sure because of the lookouts that ripped my last showdown twice already in Dartmoor and Dubai ://
I honestly feel I would be better at this mode if i didn’t spend so much time in the main game. I keep trying to do every mission silent assassin and it just makes things way harder than they need to be
Same here. But once I broke that habit it actually makes the mode a load of fun! It makes the game feel like what an assassin game should feel like because you can approach a problem in any way you see fit. Instead of just "Okay let's shoot this guy with a sieker and drown him in a toilet" every time. It also gives guns an actual use. For SA runs, guns can only be used to shoot cams, shoot the target and make distractions. But in this mode, there's a guard standing next to your target? Just pop one in his head before killing your target.
The DLC are fine as they're most part cosmetic - you ONLY get one weapon per pack (plus the outfit, home cosmetics). The rest are like everything else in needing to be acquired - it'll give people more things to collect when they've gotten everything else. The other bonus is for MAIN mode. You unlike Freelancer get everything perma unlocked so new players can get fully armed up without needing to grind much, long term players won't need these and as such they'll mostly be cosmetic but harmless enough esp as devs now have cut off their majority of revenue giving away most of the trilogy content to everyone in one budget package even new players.
Also if things go south, in every mission you can alt+f4 before the mission fails and you can retry the mission. If you fail you loose your stuff you take with you.
I had a showdown experience in Dartmoor where I pacified the guard and the gardeners on the burial area that's more isolated from security and summoned all the targets onto the bushes and triggered a bomb just to laugh for a bit
why have I lost all my freelancer tools? I had almost everything… the target escaped on the showdown but I survived. There’s no reason every single one of my tools should be gone! This has happened twice now…
You lose all your tools whenever you fail a campaign: when your target escapes during a showdown, you fail the campaign. So you lost all your tools because you failed the campaign.
The thing is I didn’t even die I escaped so that’s even bs right there 🤷♂️ lose what you take if you die… if you survive why should you lose your gear? Especially gear that is stored safely in the so called “safe house” Zero logic…
@@williamallen7386 You can't restart missions in freelancer mode Edit: I suppose you technically *can* restart the mission by forcing your game to shut down, but that's not intended - and I don't recommend it because that kind of defeats the purpose of the mode
Just take your time and you'll get it. If someone does an activity that isn't written or looks different in any way, they're not the target so just move on.
If all the appearance clues match then watch for there tells, ko the the person you think it is and they will drop a phone, if it’s the same type of meeting then you most likely got the right person! If not call the phone in a quiet area and anyone with the same sort of meeting will come to the phone :)
Hello, I have had the glitch where you are locked out of interacting with the safehouse items, It usually occurs when you hold [G] to customize a newly unlocked decoration while you are very close to another interactable that you activate with the [G] buton. plus many more. but overall, I really love the freelancer gamemode and ive put more hours into freelancer than i have the original campaign.
For a couriers, I usually grab a banana from upstairs in the safe house and place it where I know they’re gonna walk. It counts as an accident so it doesn’t ruin your SA rating.
As much as I admire the smaller maps for Showdowns - which I 100% agree with - I have to disagree with 1 point there. DO NOT LAUNCH YOUR FINAL CAMPAIGN SHOWDOWN IN NEW YORK. Showdowns often get more populated with AI and will have more enforcers. New York in turn becomes immensely claustrophobic where you have an assassin, a lookout, a guard with better ability to see through your BASE CIVILIAN DISGUISE, and suspects who can see through you. There is almost no corner where you've practiced that no one would pass by when suddenly they will.
There is also a bug where if you throw a coin to a target, the target cant pick up the coin so it will just repeat the movement of picking up and if the target did manage to pick the coin you can snatch it from them (dont need to knock them out).
Buying the DLC does not give you the weapons, it only changes the skin of the weapons in-game and you'll see them with a different skin ONLY WHEN you acquire them through normal gameplay. It's purely cosmetic, you do not receive any functional boons, it's just that those specific weapons have a skin when you see them through normal gameplay, you do not buy access to the guns.
The taking a break suggestion at the end really doesn't work for me. Everytime I return to Freelancer after a few hours I'll fuck it up and fail on my first campaign...
Since Freelancer downloaded I've had many problem with even the main game. Assets not loading, challenges done that appear to be incomplete. Has anyone else noticed this.
Freelancer exposes me as a complete noob because of the changes from campaign mode sometimes gets me caught by an enforcer, especially when doing the killing guards objectives.
Say I find a suspect who matches every characteristic perfectly. Does that mean it's the target or could another suspect have every characteristic match up too?
I dont know if it was a bug but I ran into the fun event that only one of six suspects fitted the description I got... but it was not the right target. And sometimes I think you have to guess. I had another run where my target had tattoos, but no suspects had any tattoos. I did find the right target but in the end it was only because she had one more check than the others.
I wouldn't call the add ons scummy. IOI have clearly put a lot of effort into making an enjoyable addition to the game which is free to access. They've got to get money somehow to pay staff and cover costs and it's not like youre forced into buying them or have them shoved down your throat. Besides the packs don't cost too much now. (From what I saw they're like £8?) So yeah I hugely disagree with you there
Great guide, thanks! Question though, whenever I pick up items from the map, crowbar, wrench, etc. They never show up in my inventory, aren't they supposed too?
Not really, the ones that will show up if found or bought are the ICA Crowbar and Handyman Wrench because they are actual items from the main game you can unlock.
@@chillemperor9373 No you can take common things with you but prolly only the one's that have a gear capacity number attached to them in the inventory.
Definitely they will monetize hitman more with microtransactions, which is a bummer, hopefully it stays cosmetic.. They did support all 3 games really well for 6+ years, and for the most part have delivered the 'world of assassination' dream we were pitched in the first place with this trilogy.
So basically, if I find a silenced pistol and bring it back to my safehouse, but I take it on a mission and fail, I lose the item, and have to go however many missions until i randomly find or buy one again, and there's no way to have one permanently???
I have one question. What happens if we die with dlc weapons or freelancer mastery weapons? Are they gone completely? Because we can only get them once...
Well, i had like almost all of those freelancer tools, and one of the targets got awey, and i failed the campaign, i losed all of those tools, and i aint even got killed in the mission.
@@Charles_Anthony I'd be fine with that. Would be the same as red orbs packs in DMC 4 and 5 or easy fatality koins in MK X and 11. Most people won't pay anything extra, yet the IOI devs would still get to make more money despite adding free extra content for everyone, all thanks to some individuals with more income than common sense buying Merces. Everybody wins.
Ngl i realized the micro transactions instantly lol. Almost seems to good to be true with games, and the revamp of hitman 3 being all under one roof had me questioning how they'd market everything again. Before i even loaded the game, i checked DLC and the patch notes. Was amazed to not only see 2 "Skin packs". But also the seven deadly sins collection still popping up for sale despite owning it already. (Collection for all sins, thought that was already a thing?) @@alexgame3357 If they did that instead then it would mean that everyone that could not afford it would miss out on a ton of content. With this system everyone is happy
@@Elith- Yeah i don't really have that big of an issue with it. Just micro transactions in general are more damaging to players, than supportive to devs. The history is really dark revolving around crates and the gambling analogy. Even if the pack(s) looked good, i wouldn't use either. Only way i could justify the purchase is if it came with new weapons / items. And the safehouse "Upgrades" are not worth it in the slightest. I have a feeling there will be more though. Perhaps assets used from previous maps, sold for the safehouse. Even then would want them to be good before i commit to buying. Was going to say it can be justified with the newer map we got last year. However, even following that logic, Hitman 3 had less maps off memory no? All in all, not a fan of the trend. But it's hardly that bad compared to other games, still doesn't make it right though. That many packs / versions of the games, they've made enough money I'm absolutely sure of it.
To be fair, didn't he say that slipping them in without saying anything was scummy, not that the addition of cosmetic microtransactions were?
@@Midnight-wh2bs That isn't scummy either though
I think the cosmetic packs are not a bad addition since they also grant you extra safe house decorations.
Besides, IOI is no longer getting money from the access passes or DLCs since Hitman is all one big bundle now, so it makes sense they add these packs to still make some extra money.
Not sure why you think it's scummy if I'm being entirely honest
hard agreed, i have them and they haven't made the game any easier lmao
I personally dislike it because it feels like the hitman series has gradually gotten more and more DLC that I am not interested in but is constantly shoved in my face.
I get that the devs need to make ends meet but having to scroll through cosmetic decorations that I do not own just reminds me of all the disc space and loading time its taking up for no reason.
@@funx24X7 This game is so incredibly polished and filled with content especially for how laughable today’s triple A standards are in this industry. I don’t mind a few small dlcs. IOI’s devs and management deserve it in my opinion
@@roscoyoustupiddog9111 I agree that it’s a great game and they deserve money. I bought the new trilogy twice over since they originally released 3 as an epic store exclusive. The game devs are masters at what they do but the people running the marketing side are incredibly annoying.
@@funx24X7 oh yeah, that was a mess. I personally never had to rebuy any of the games bc I played on console and it was a little more streamlined there, but I can agree that was dumb. I just appreciate the product we got.
After I picked up a silenced pistol shit was too easy. I’m just breezing through the missions now.
Actually the sieger 300 ghost is still the best sniper, you can do the collateral objective by first shooting a non target, and then while you are still slowing down time just shoot your target and done
you should be able to do this with any sniper that has the marksman perk
Freelancer is so buggy right now. I've experienced remote emetic devices not working, NPC's seeing through walls, and emetic darts being lethal. I've seen some streamers come across even stranger bugs, like picking up objects straight from NPC's, permanently animated NPC's, and duplicating items. IOI has got some patches to get working on.
Amazing guide I love it... I played in the CTT, but had no idea the item that they drop and meeting is different between suspects lmaoooo, so thank you very much for that info :)
I only disagree with the small maps for showdown, yeah they are better, but not for the last one for sure because of the lookouts that ripped my last showdown twice already in Dartmoor and Dubai ://
I honestly feel I would be better at this mode if i didn’t spend so much time in the main game. I keep trying to do every mission silent assassin and it just makes things way harder than they need to be
Same!
Gotta get that all black suit 👔
Timed Objectives, mainly Time trial, the timer stops after killing all targets.
Useful against the Arms Dealer campaign.
If you’re feeling a little risky, if you take the collector’s dart gun and the free one you’ll start your mission with 3 darts instead of 2.
Freelancer has come, and so have I -WildGold.
Also if things go south, in every mission you can alt+f4 before the mission fails and you can retry the mission. If you fail you loose your stuff you take with you.
that takes away the entire point of the gamemode
@@nxcrobutcher I do really understand that, but I hate loosing my stuff more.
nice walkthrough guide. I was wondering when you were going to do one
I had a showdown experience in Dartmoor where I pacified the guard and the gardeners on the burial area that's more isolated from security and summoned all the targets onto the bushes and triggered a bomb just to laugh for a bit
Hypothetically, would Dubai be a good showdown location? I have to choose between that or alerted whittleton creek and I’m almost done with campaign
you dont wanna do the showdown on the alerted one, or you'll have a bad time 😂
@@mrjoykak thanks :)
Update: I lost the campaign and now want to die
why have I lost all my freelancer tools? I had almost everything… the target escaped on the showdown but I survived. There’s no reason every single one of my tools should be gone! This has happened twice now…
That's the way it works when you screw up a showdown, so just take your time and don't rush
@@mrholdit8478 Can't you just restart when things go south?
@@williamallen7386 You can't restart missions in freelancer mode
Edit: I suppose you technically *can* restart the mission by forcing your game to shut down, but that's not intended - and I don't recommend it because that kind of defeats the purpose of the mode
also dont drop your sniper after use and exit the mission like on Story Mode. found that out the hard way
I also noticed a bug with Camera's, some of them dont show that green field of view of the Camera.
What about the thematic weapons? Ornamental pistol etc... if I take them out and die ate they gone gone?
I always fuck it up at the end because the leaders are tough to tell apart.
Just take your time and you'll get it. If someone does an activity that isn't written or looks different in any way, they're not the target so just move on.
@@wildgold I second this. It took me a while to figure the mechanics out but once you get the hang of it finding the target is actually pretty easy.
If all the appearance clues match then watch for there tells, ko the the person you think it is and they will drop a phone, if it’s the same type of meeting then you most likely got the right person! If not call the phone in a quiet area and anyone with the same sort of meeting will come to the phone :)
Hello,
I have had the glitch where you are locked out of interacting with the safehouse items,
It usually occurs when you hold [G] to customize a newly unlocked decoration while you are very close to another interactable that you activate with the [G] buton.
plus many more. but overall, I really love the freelancer gamemode and ive put more hours into freelancer than i have the original campaign.
is there any way to unlock elusive target suits? any legal or illigal way?
For a couriers, I usually grab a banana from upstairs in the safe house and place it where I know they’re gonna walk. It counts as an accident so it doesn’t ruin your SA rating.
I do that too
I love the new unlockable suits ngl they fire
I played it in New York and had a pretty easy time all things consider.
Should I play Freelancer before finishing the main story? I'm working on Mastery 20 for every location and I haven't even started with Dubai.
play free lancer after the main story bcz u have to get familiarized with the maps
There is also a bug where if you throw a coin to a target, the target cant pick up the coin so it will just repeat the movement of picking up and if the target did manage to pick the coin you can snatch it from them (dont need to knock them out).
Nice thumbnail
Freelancer has come, and so have I 🙂
An actual good guide! good video!
showdowns are my least fav part of this mode but the rest is fun
Buying the DLC does not give you the weapons, it only changes the skin of the weapons in-game and you'll see them with a different skin ONLY WHEN you acquire them through normal gameplay.
It's purely cosmetic, you do not receive any functional boons, it's just that those specific weapons have a skin when you see them through normal gameplay, you do not buy access to the guns.
The taking a break suggestion at the end really doesn't work for me. Everytime I return to Freelancer after a few hours I'll fuck it up and fail on my first campaign...
Microtransaction? Still gotta spend Mercers to actually aquire the weapons. Besides an Assult rifle and sniper
This game mode truly exposed people who relied on lockpick and silenced pistol too much.
The easiest way is to choose the "poison target" campaign
Since Freelancer downloaded I've had many problem with even the main game. Assets not loading, challenges done that appear to be incomplete. Has anyone else noticed this.
whats the song in the beginning
Playing on ps4. Question is it also very slow in loading on your end?
Na ps4/Xbox one (old gen) are slow in general ✌️
Freelancer exposes me as a complete noob because of the changes from campaign mode sometimes gets me caught by an enforcer, especially when doing the killing guards objectives.
Say I find a suspect who matches every characteristic perfectly. Does that mean it's the target or could another suspect have every characteristic match up too?
There can be only one!
If you bring in the collectors editions and fail a campaign or leave them, do you lose them?
yes
Only things that have rarity come back with you. So some things like soda cans don’t have rarity and some items do
@WildGold OK, thank you.
@@chillemperor9373 No you can take common things with you but prolly only the one's that have a gear capacity number attached to them in the inventory.
W guide🐐🐐
Definitely they will monetize hitman more with microtransactions, which is a bummer, hopefully it stays cosmetic.. They did support all 3 games really well for 6+ years, and for the most part have delivered the 'world of assassination' dream we were pitched in the first place with this trilogy.
yeah i have been grinding like a lunatic and it was not fun to fail a mission and lose everything
So basically, if I find a silenced pistol and bring it back to my safehouse, but I take it on a mission and fail, I lose the item, and have to go however many missions until i randomly find or buy one again, and there's no way to have one permanently???
Yup. You can normally get a silenced pistol from the hidden assassin that follows the target in the showdowns
Whats next? New maps in loorboxes, you need to grind for 1000h or just buy?
the wire joke was funny
Can you store headphone cable?
Nah
@@wildgold It's frustrating when you have to fibre-wire a target, but u can't find one anywhere
@@wildgold should the makeshift snipper become available in your freelance inventory
The medic pay has a free pair of fibre wire in it every time :)
You also lose freelancer tools of you fail a campaign by failing a showdown or an alerted territory
My issue is if I die I lose all my freelancer tools and I'm not on hardcore mode
u will lose them either it be hardcore or standard
I have one question. What happens if we die with dlc weapons or freelancer mastery weapons? Are they gone completely? Because we can only get them once...
I’m going to assume you can buy them back probably
I lost the pistol it gives you so if you lose a weapon it’s gone
@@criticalstrike_r oh ok... It would be cheesy if they respawned.. .
I mean the dlc is like £4 and optional not a huge deal
It's still worth covering
@@wildgold: Thank you for covering it!
Anyone else game keep crashing on Xbox?
Xbox x no more then 3 times but I’ve played a lot since the release, thankfully at the beginning of missions so no loss
Well, i had like almost all of those freelancer tools, and one of the targets got awey, and i failed the campaign, i losed all of those tools, and i aint even got killed in the mission.
U forgot fishing for free sedative vial
I just want that silent silver baller.
I can't wait for the pay to win microtransactions to be added just like many of the other AAA titles..
Not really Pay to win, you still gotta get your nose to the ground and get them targets
It's only a matter of time before they offer $5 for $5,000 mercers
@@Charles_Anthony I'd be fine with that. Would be the same as red orbs packs in DMC 4 and 5 or easy fatality koins in MK X and 11. Most people won't pay anything extra, yet the IOI devs would still get to make more money despite adding free extra content for everyone, all thanks to some individuals with more income than common sense buying Merces. Everybody wins.
It's DLC, not microtransactions. Literally nothing new for the franchise.
7:34 lmao
I be grateful for subtitles for this video I found it difficult to understand
The Microtransactions joke was funny. Tbh they both suck. IoI should just add weapon modification from Blood Money
c-s-g-o 💀
What the fuck do assassins do?
Follow the leader and try to kill you if you commit
illegal actions
TLDR: How can we turn Hitman into a micro transaction cosmetics money tap while we work on our 007 IP? Cha-ching!!
It’s WAY to hard bro - impossible
The hardest boss: random NPC,who can see from everywhere
Ngl i realized the micro transactions instantly lol.
Almost seems to good to be true with games, and the revamp of hitman 3 being all under one roof had me questioning how they'd market everything again.
Before i even loaded the game, i checked DLC and the patch notes.
Was amazed to not only see 2 "Skin packs".
But also the seven deadly sins collection still popping up for sale despite owning it already. (Collection for all sins, thought that was already a thing?)
Not sure what its about maybe a bug or such.
Also think i fucked up with the Christmas sale.
Brought the deluxe upgrade for hitman 3 so i could get the escalations.
25 dollars or so AUD.
Ah well. lol.
Good guide man :)
If small optional cosmetic packs is the price to pay for tons of free content then that sounds great to me.
@@Elith- I would prefer to simply pay money for a DLC map like New York. Cosmetics micro trans is cancerous.
@@alexgame3357 If they did that instead then it would mean that everyone that could not afford it would miss out on a ton of content. With free content payed for by cosmetics that means that everyone gets to enjoy the new content, and those who want and can afford to support IOI get some cool cosmetics.
They'd certainly be at a profit than loss. Let alone by this point in the life cycle. And now even more so with the inclusion of all games into one.
Not sure why you're complaining when you already have everything. You can always play the regular levels instead of freelancer.
Thanks a bunch, you actually explained what freelancer is and what are the rules better than the game does. 🫡
