My whole house is a she shed. I am really enjoying living alone for the last 8 years. I'm 64. Retiring in the fall. I date here and there. I'm blessed in many ways Thanks !
I relocated twice after my husband passed away nearly 7 years ago. Had to initially find a rental apartment that would allow my little dog to be with me, after selling our house. Then, when a flat became available for me in the retirement village I reside in, I had to relocate once more. I live inside my work space now, in a tiny 23 sq meter flat, surrounded by beautiful gardens and pathways. I like the French Provencal style, but with a modern twist here and there, to keep it fresh. I love saturated yet soft colours, and my flat''s palette is mainly pale gray, white, duck egg blue and tiny touches of silvered purple. I love a touch of shabby chic, but most of all I want my space to give me a warm welcome home hug each time I walk in! Being an artist and professional calligrapher, my (very few) walls hold small ledge shelves, on which I can interchange my own creations.... My other love is music, as I sing and play the piano - even the tiny sunroom which doubles as my teensy lounge, has a French Louis chair, bthat is covered in a modern vintage (faded) purple , gold embossed fabric! Because space is at a premium, I have zero curtains, instead, for security as well as controlling light and temperature, I have American shutters in white. It works! I love to have a harmonious yet comfy home, nothing jarring....though some things may surprise a few folks. No matter, since I live here alone......🙂
I turned 60 in May. Married, divorced, relationships that failed, I felt trapped in the end suffocated infact. My last relationship ended 5 years ago, the relief when I walked away. I went to work, I transformed my home, it's my sanctuary. Loving my solo life, I never get lonely, happy and drama free. Thankyou for your words totally resonates with me, I'm out there and shining 😊❤
Good Morning 🌞 Everyone, This event is wonderful timing for me. I am in the process of decorating my condo. Yesterday painters transformed my balcony/porch into a lovely and calming retreat. I love sitting there with my plants and wicker furniture. 😄 Have a wonderful day from Newark, Delaware 🌻
Sounds delightful. Something I always wanted or thought about doing. Had a terrace for 44 years. Never really used it much. Did a little decorating with plants. Move a year ago. No terrace. I miss it.
I enjoyed this video. In 2013 I was divorced after 12 years of marriage. That was my second marriage. My first marriage I bought the Home Interior products for decorating. In my second marriage we used his furniture from his family that he already was using. He wouldn’t allow me to decorate as I wanted. So now I’m feeling like a Free bird as I enjoy decorating with things I buy in my world travels. My whole townhome is my sanctuary. I enjoy French Country, pastels, soft , flowing fabrics, silk, wool, cultural clothing and jewelry, and functional items. I use the quilts my grandmothers and mother made, and everything I own… nothing is saved for “ company”.
I ended up with much of my parents and even grandparents hand me downs in furniture earlier in life when I was struggling after divorce. It has been liberating to let a good deal of it go as I really pare down and define my style. I have also found some fun new to me pieces that I just enjoy looking at. I’d say my style is eclectic, colorful and whimsical. Totally me. Somehow it all comes together in a home I love to be in. Great video!
finding you, and your words, online, have been a godsend to me at this stage of my life. At 65 years old, and after having been a solo caregiver for my mother for the past five years, and just losing her, I kind of lost ‘myself’ in the process; and I’m finding that starting over pretty much now, is difficult. Your videos are giving me a lot of new ideas and inspiration though and I thank you so very much. Keep up the wonderful work.
I'm kind of eclectic. People who meet me think I'm an extrovert. I do love people, but I have to have time alone to re-energize, to be with my books and cats, to be quiet. That carries over in every pat of my life: decor, clothes, relstionships, etc. I do love that blouse, Margaret. It really looks good on you. Have a great day and thanks for sharing.
Great revisit on this subject Margaret. Thank you. "Surround yourself with things that you love" I totally agree. I live and travel in a van and tend to do this on a small scale due to lack of room. I love subtle details. I buy items then add a personal touch to them. It could be a tiny row of stitches along the edge of a pillow, or a photo frame that I can add an interesting pattern to, or tiny embroidered flowers along the edge of a sheet. I also collect cards with interesting art which I am starting to line my van walls with. (I need to be careful not to overdo this though). I guess I would be classed as Eclectic. I love your pearl earrings btw.
Your videos always provide me with inspiration. I love my friends, but none of them enjoy makeup, decor or travel. Your videos are what I need in my life. ❤😊
Your video made me think about my own personal style at this time. I recently moved into my own place after renting rooms for a while. They were usually furnished . I am just beginning to purchase furniture and decorate so this topic is so relatable. When I was married years ago my style was so different and I’m finding myself again both personally and in my surroundings. Great topic Margaret ❤️
Dear Margaret ❤ I have my chair in front of window at my work place and every morning when I come to work, first open my I pad and listen to your videos at least 2 of them, you are really my Soul mate ❤ I really appreciate you and wish you all the beautiful things on your way. Send you hugs and love from Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
I have two cafes: one is in Fredericksburg and one in Arlington. How's this for quirky: Fredericksburg cafe is housed in an antique church and the front has entrepreneur's business cards lined up for the taking; artists, photographers, caterers, etc. Arlington Cafe is New Orleans- ian cuisine, catering, and coffee and the ladies room is wallpapered with real recipes. Both are decorated just perfectly!
Margaret, you look very pretty today! I've been told that women our age don't look good with shiny eye shadow, but it's beautiful on you. I think I will revisit that look! My style is pretty much boho, with an intense love of nature. Thank goodness, the hippie in me is still alive 🥰
@@sixtyandme Margret, can you share the name/brand of the eye palette - that gold is stunning! and I love the lip color as well, and how about the glowy foundation? Maybe a short tutorial on this look? ANd did I say it looks so lovely on you?!!! I can be described as a romantic, bohemian, elegant.
Very interesting topic Margaret, thank you. I like clean, uncluttered airy places that are beautiful, original and unique. I don"t follow trends. I only buy things I absolutely love. I'm not materialistic, so it can take a long time to find an object that I love, but I don't mind waiting until I find something I love. I don't buy things that just "will do", that are just "ok." And I love good books, and tea. My ideal room would probably be a beautiful old-fashioned tea-shop with lots of good books to read, lol ! 💖
Loved this! I am in rental with too many favorite pictures, too many restrictions on nails and hammers. HaHa. So? Well I have a garage that is going to become an art gallery. I can leave my puzzles together. i can cover the walls. Put 2 chairs out front and invite passer-byers to stop and chat. Plug in boombox for quiet music. Stop by!
Hi Margaret, what a great topic. Ive really enjoyed reading the comments below. I loved how you described the cafe you chose. There's a little village nearby where I live, on the edge of the Yarra Valley and it's a very "artistic" town. And there's a coffee shop/bookshop there that I adore.. very similar to the one you chose. All the wood has a certain patina to it, walls decorated with wonderful art by local artists and a Fire place. Oh and most importantly, GREAT COFFEE 😊...at the entrance to the coffee shop is a beautiful gift shop. I just love it. Its altogether different, colourful, interesting. And yes very eclectic. 😊
Pretty blouse! And I love the flowers. For me, I am still boho but also moving to simple, mix & match styles. I gave away all but 3 jeans and sticking with comfortable and accent pieces. Good topic!
Hi, I am new to your channel. I am also a senior boho inthutiest. I would love to see your decorating style and colors. The more color, the better, imo! 😂
Hello Margaret, I really enjoy listening and watching your videos. for the last year or two I have been in and out of nursing homes. prior to that I haven't lived alone for years. now I have a beautiful brand new apartment and I'm having a real hard time transitioning.. I was wondering if you had any ideas for me Debra
Hi Margaret, I hope you are doing well. I love living alone, and I tend to lean toward (or I should say learning to be more minimalist ), clean lines, leaving space for admiring beautiful pieces. May I ask....I love that eye shadow you are wearing....what is the brand & color? Thank you!
I consider myself eclectic so I have modern, ethnic, antic and classic mixed in a sober way. I also have more than one religion object. I am Catholic though

My decor style is cozy, thrifted, romantic academia. I'm 54 but it's never too soon to learn from others how to live happily and well at any age
Can you describe romantic academia? I’m intrigued! 😊

“Go out in the world and shine.” That’s a beautiful statement, Margaret. That will be my mission while I run errands this afternoon and visit my mom.

thanks so much - i think the secret with shiny eye shadow is to just keep it on the eyelid - it really makes the eye sparkle :-)

you are very welcome - i am honestly not sure of the eyeshadow but probably toasted by urban decay :-)
Lovely video! My house is Shabby Chic. My personal style is classical, vintage, bohemian ❤💄
Thanks for sharing!!
I thought straight away hippy but I guess that's basically the same as Boho in style
I consider myself eclectic so I have modern, ethnic, antic and classic mixed in a sober way. I also have more than one religion object. I am Catholic though
