Boring Desert Battles? Make Your Terrain Wide AND Tall!

  • Deserts and dunes seem like they would go hand in hand, but how can we introduce decent elevation without worrying about descending minis? These small mesas and hoodoos will certainly take your desert terrain to new heights by mixing the benefits of scatter terrain (where you can just quickly chuck these bad boys down) and modular terrain (magnets allow you to stack 'em high and make arches without worrying about them falling over!).
    This terrain is super forgiving as well since your foam cuts don't have to be exact at all. Somewhat beginner-friendly!

    Sands down the best desert terrain I've seen. Nice work, Dune! (All these puns make me both ill and happy at the same time.😬) FYI "Fender" washers are the ones with the smaller holes. Also, I find melting the spaces for the washers, magnets, pennies, etc with a hotwire 'pencil' (not sure what the attachment is called) easier than trying to carve out the space. YMMV. Cheers.

    I think the white areas are caused by the grout being somewhat hydrophobic, it's probably repelling the top layer of paint off it on the first pass. I quick spritz of IPA over the grout might break the surface tension of the dry grout, and allow your paint to stay in place. Just a theory... I've found grout to be a bit finicky at times in my own work.

    • @raecheldoes
      @raecheldoes  10 месяцев назад
