Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

I am a city boy originally from Louisiana now living in Virginia. Because of you I have taken a great interest in farming/Ag and have been leaning as much as I can. Especially from you. Thank you for everything that you do! You truly are an inspiration!
Awesome thank you for watching!!
VABeachFF I live in Louisiana and we farm corn, soybeans, and cotton
This is not how an average farmer farms
Well, really they farm average amount of acres, allot of bushels tho
@@piperdoug428 what makes you think that?
the master pipe layer going balls deep who would have thought it🤣🤣
I like the check ins with randy interesting job he does
Yeah Randy Kicks ass! I would love to learn more about Tile work. Does Randy Run a 16 row??
I as well would like to learn more about Randy's pipe laying abilities.... 😂😂😂
does he have a youtube channel?
I had a great laugh at the ending of this video. "How deep can we go. That deep"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH me either!
Ha, best ever use for one of those things.
😂🤣😂🤣
Johnny Boy That’s definitely all the way. 😂
I was just floored with Randy the Master Pipe Layer as a Bonus. Zach you are Brilliant. Thank you for getting us so crazy on Farming. Loving every second. If you ever wondered where I go from here. You just did it.

Good call on the camera on the cart! We have 3 on our cart. One overlooks the cart to see the combine filling, one looks down into the truck, and one looks behind for backing up and driving on the road. Helps so much for visibility!
Loved the check in with Randy !! Awesome video as always !! Thanks for sharing !!
I like the new grain cart. Keep doing check-Ins with the master pipe layer.
The cart war is on and some of the most popular agricultural channels are the benefactors have fun guys !!! That is some serious pipe laying for sure , wouldn't wanna be the guy in the box very long ! Thanks for the video!
The "check in" was awsome! Really enjoyed the change up. Its neat to see all the different aspects of laying tile!
Man that's different from what we did back on the farm in the fourty's. First cut rough cut lumber eight by tens making four planks into a "tube". Then with shovels we dug ditch's three feet deep, placed our home made pipe and filled in the ditch. It actually worked remarkedley well.
really liked checking in with randy the master pipe layer
You can never go wrong than with buying a J&M grain cart. Plus you supporting a small family owned company. Great place to get a tour at. I live like 20 minutes away from where they build them.
Zac the MN Millennial Farmer and Randy the master pipe layer. It's the dynamic duo 👍🚜
Hey Zach: You’ve got a bigger one than Randy. SIZE MATTERS! Talking about grain carts of course.
Captain Al from Tampa 😎
Great video. I enjoyed the check in with Randy. Balls deep as always
I pull a 1800 Elmar grain cart with a 9510RT twin track JD I love it the tracks on the car work great with the twin track JD very smooth. Saskatchewan Canada
Nice grain cart. I hope this weather straightens out. Wet & cold. 41 degrees @ 3pm. Sounds like rain tomorrow night & Saturday again. Can't wait to see the cart in action.
Thanks for including Randy the MPL! Very fascinating that such simple technology can make a big difference. Although the tech to put it in is super cool!
Been raining off and on all week. Kinda sucks. Supposed to rain Friday, Saturday and possibly Sunday too. That's the forcast for Sauk Centre. Tonight got a Frost Advisory. So stay warm!
people like you inspired me to start my own youtube of our families vegetable farm. thank you for the inspiration!
Great addition of the Master Pipe Layer section !!
that grain cart looks amazing ... one of those needs to be in a museum in 100 years
"Kitty corn" before "Cab corn"
shift rk
Whoa, kitty corn, is it old enough to be showing that on video? Lol
well played!
Millennial Farmer next time put ur seatbelt on you millennial 😂
shift rk
LOL
Great Video, Love the Graincart. J&M is 30 Minutes from Me. Glad to see your new cart. Glad to see Randy doing what he does Best.
I literally just downloaded this grain cart for FS19 and I knew you probably had a video showing off the real life counterpart. Thanks for the amazing work you do IRL
Another great idea bigger cart less trips just don't get it stuck!
I can't imagine the sheer amount of money that comes into and goes right back out of that operation.
In Laymans terms "A shit ton"
Exactly $42.
About $3.50
ɹǝsn snoɯʎuouɐ I don’t know about the Midwest but not every farmer gets subsidies, we sure never have.
I was around farmers my whole childhood, and even had one family turn their business into a huge multi county company. Even they didn't spend money so quickly, so... Not sure what's happening here or how, but I certainly wouldn't use it as an example of the average farmer.
“It’s even a beautiful evening out here “ shows fully overcast sky 😂😂
Reno Colburn it’s still a beautiful evening
At least its not snowing.....yet.
Its been hard pressed to just be lucky to have a dry day here in the midwest we can use all the dry days we can get right now
I love watching your videos. You have a awesome operation 👍
Brrrrrrr,.... Welker Farm was calling out for a snow forcast ❄️,... how are you doing..... and callout to Randy,... wow!! your job just became a hell of a lot more technical. Nice to see the use of technology, would be nice to see a complete job, from planning to execute. I guess the preparation part is very underrated, while it is probably half, so not more, work!
It has been in the mid to upper 90's for it seems like over a month and half with no rain. We are getting ready to plant wheat right now the ground is like a rock and is nothing but dry dirt. Supposed to cool down this weekend. Soooo ready for it. Average high right now should be 75 degrees here.
M a 32 years old wheat and paddy farmer ( only 42 acres) here in India since last 9 years . M loving your videos.. m using only 60 hp new holland tractor and 18 feet header combine.. the American equipments are too expensive here ( almost double the price) for farmers due to import duty and crop prices are way less so we can't afford them.
M loving your videos
I wish I could just get some rain fer the wheat here in Colorado, and your draining the water away!
Love it your going "balls deep"!!
Hey thanks . We used a portion of the video that included the fall of your daughter in a Farm Safety meeting. We had over 600 in attendance and it made an impact. thanks for being honest enough to share the scary parts of farming and raising children. Your caution and emotion were heard. Glad everyone is safe.
Nice calendar Mr Master Pipe Layer!!
I like the master pipe layer dude a lot
He's ok
My first days farming / running tractors was very eye opening,. We had a 30ft disc we were changing the tires out on and I decided to hop up on the frame and walk to the other side. The tires were lifted that we were exchanging out , I stepped on the tire and it rolled out from under my foot and I did what seemed to be 14 flips and some how didn’t get a scratch from the disc.
My cousin saw what I was fixing to do (he is the owner) he screamed BILLLLLLLLL, JUST AS MY FOOT TOUCHED THE TIRE. I was lucky
We have cameras like that in our barn so we can check our cows during the cold calving season in the middle of the night
Walkers had a 1600 bushel grain cart, now you've got one with tracks, next Randy will have to out do you guys by getting a field Mother Bin
I run a 1500 bushel cart have a camera for backup a camera for loading mounted at the front ledge so you can see the back of the cart and one on the downspout for unloading dont need to even look toward the truck to unload i would say most important camera will be your downspout one!
How much pressure does it take to crack that camera lens? Thanks for the great video!
One thing about a farmer/rancher's work.... there is always something to do.
I like the idea about the tracks on the grain cart not having grease fitting.
It's always a pain to grease everything and time you miss one or two.
I am a John Deere man myself. I farm 3 cow pastures with my grandpa in California. We use an Oliver 550 and a 1958 Ferguson 35 to do all of the ranch work.
Zach you are a great ambassador for farmers!! Please keep doing what you’re doing man!!
Put 3 cameras on the cart, one on the pipe by the spout, one inside the tank, and the last one on the back. You won’t regret it, I put 3 like that on our new kinze 1051 cart and absolutely love them.
The ending was hilarious! 🤣
Keep doing the check ins with Randy the master pipe layer
At least Randy knows what a quality combine is !!!!
My wife calls me the Master Pipe layer....well she pronounces it more like Dork. But I hear what shes really telling me.
I like Randy's calendar way better than the calendar on my phone....
I had to go back and pause that just to look and make sure it was what I saw lol
good section about Randy
I live 30 minutes from the J&M factory, been on numerous tours, it’s a fantastic company!
must have good ppl at the top. companies run by greedy sociopaths tend to be terrible with a huge turn over of employees. also marked by mandatory OT of not less than 60 hrs a week, thats usually due to a greedy employer trying to get by with half the employees they should really have. eventually word gets out and the company struggles to find decent employees and then struggles to find and keep any employees. lets hope J&M doesnt operate like this.
Billy Darley, most importantly, don’t be that person! 👍
@@Greg_Gatsby Gordon Gecko was half right. greed can build an empire, but it can also destroy it if not kept under control.
Billy Darley that makes zero sense man. No company wants to pay fewer employees loads of overtime versus having a few more and pay them regular hourly wages.
BWM that’s not correct. It’s very possible to turn out a quality product and not have good leadership at the higher levels of management.
I quite enjoy the check UPS with Randy the master pipe layer
Yes I remember seeing that same exact one when I went to J&M work place before FFA Convention
I have the exact same cart. Flag decal and all. You will love it!!!
Another great update thanks much appreciated taking time out showing us the new gen farming
I love the new Cart and all the new cameras! Now I need to find a new field to snatch my corn from. It's getting harder and harder to feed the family!
That cart is just amazing. Your girls are also, well adorable is the word, and you, time to go on the road with the Blue Collar Comedy show!! Your a funny guy!
Randy sure knows what he is doing
Balls deep, like Randy said at the very end
Randy needs to make his own channel. I would subscribe to that in a heartbeat.
1432, that's a little baby. We're running two Brent 2096 carts.
Liked the new segment can't wait to see u run the cart
That was a really good episode right there.
Both segments were great! Thanks for sharing
To bad you don't have that challenger tractor this year. That would look sweet with that new J&M grain cart!!
And the past two days have definitely been helpful in making sure everything is washed off and clean.
That’s a nice piece of equipment . It’ll take some ponies to move that cart around efficiently . Bogey rollers and the fronts are idler’s
Those are some serious grain bins.
thanks for the clips from Randy the Master Pipe Layer! :D
I live where the J&M wagons are made. My cousin works there. The whole operation is as big as the town it resides in.
Like the bit with Randy
👌👍😊 AND THE FARMING GETS "MORE HIGH TECH" AWESOME update....LET'S HOPE FOR MORE OF THAT GLOBAL 😎"WARMING" TO FINISH OFF THE CROPS !!!! 😍😍😍😍😍
I like Randy's new holland combine
Even in this farm economy, money is not an object
@Mike Maes or bankruptcy
How deep ? "Ball Bag Deep" !! Too funny.
Awesome video and update on the farm. Ohh man Randy had me roaring.😂🤣😂. Nice new segment to the video. Hopefully the rain settles down for all of us in mn.
Randy th mpl last little segment made me chuckle, Squaddie humour right there Bro (EX R.A.M.C British Army)
Randy is the man
Excellent stuff as always !! Looking forward to the harvest updates !!
I’m lovin the Randy the master pipe layer segment. Can that guy lay pipe or what.
Nice I like Randy the MPL Segment !!!!
yhe zach im in uk up through night watching you but its worth it take care
Nice calendar!
Holy moly, I want one and I don’t even have a farm right now!
I like the check-ins with master pipe layer Randy
Wow. This is really something special. That thumbnail just looks like something strait out of NASA, hahaha... very cool looking. Beautiful, really!!
I'm liking Randy the MPL's check in part of the video.
😂😂😂😂 the very last clip at the and! Great videos man!
love the calendar in the MPL semi
Congradulations on the new grain cart sure is pretty
Hope all is going good this weekend , Up here north east of you we received a lot of rain last night and its still raining. Pastures are a mess, cattle are standing in mud.
Millennial farmer you got a nice grain cart
Awesome video Zach
A dry spell is now 24 hrs without an inch of rain...13 inches in Sept in southeastern Manitoba.
T F Wow, We have had no rain since the first of August. Should get some this weekend .
Holy shit!!! That thing is a beaut!!!!
Check-ins with Randy is awesome!
Wow! That corn is really green! Most of the stuff here in South Dakota just has a bit of green in the stalks. Some guys are already taking some of their beans, but we've had a lot of rain here this week, so nobody has been in the fields. Hopefully your corn will be ready in time, though.
Like a good poker hand, o'le Randy was 'ball-slappin ALL-IN" on that hand!!
Are we gonna be getting more videos from Randy? I’d love to see how laying tile “pipe” works.
I'm hoping so, that's the plan!
