btw a good tip that no-one else has said if you're looking to keep the car DO NOT listen to that temp guage, its a known thing the rx8 temp guage not only runs wrong but runs 'slow' so to speak you'd have already overheated it before you realise if you watch that get an aftermarket sensor and guage if you can shut down procedure i live by is 10-15 real seconds of 3500 rpm before turning off, you only do this if you have really weak ignition or the car is cold. tbh if your ignition is good enough you dont technically need to do this if cold although i still do. your comp numbers are not terrible considering its got an S1 starter warmup procedure dont warm it up fully like some people think it builds too much carbon epecially if youre running it for a low amount of miles after, let it warmup until the needle hits the temp guage (around 50 degrees) then drive slow (under 3k) for another 5-10 mins depending on your preference then you'll be good to hit it and redline her ! if you need any other help lmk ill drop my info !
Thank you! I did add an aftermarket temp sensor and gauge. Also added the upgraded starter. The car is running good. Very fun to drive. I appreciate your info!
When mine would flood, i would floor it to start it like you did. It would turn and eventually start every time. I never did it because I didn’t know at the time, but a lot of rotary people recommend throwing in a little two-stroke in the tank every fuel fill up to keep the seals in the motor from drying out.
Try to source a Series 2 starter that spins much faster making starts easier, especially with lower compression. 90s compression is just fine. Just make sure the oil metering pump is working or a sohn adapter is fit to make sure it keeps getting enough lubrication. The sensor for the coolant reservoir likes to go bad on these and they are not replaceable, you need to replace the entire coolant reservoir. Going after market with a metal casing is usually the upgrade there as they come with replaceable sensors. The temp gauge is a dummy gauge, if it moves past center once warmed up you are over 200F and it's usually too late.
Good advice! Right on the money. Since posting this video I upgraded the starter, added an aftermarket temp sensor, and disconnected the coolant level sensor. This car is FUN to drive.
Its probably flooded if ya push the throttle wide open while cranking it shuts the injectors off and lets access fuel run out of the engine once its all out it should start aslong as the battery is full charged id change plugs too.......edit haha i commented b4 the part where you pushed throttle too the floor too start.
And also if it's Low power or High power it's still has power issues below 5.5k rpm. So do not floor it below 5k it's gonna cost you a engine in long term.
*Update! Can we make the RX-8 paint look factory fresh? Find out:* ruclips.net/video/rkkY97H5xEI/видео.html
Dang how many channels you got? LOL Watching now! Just got home from Indiana.
Thanks Randy, hope you had a good trip! To answer your question… one channel for every Mustang you’ve got… I’ll try to keep up 😂

Came for the bonus video and realized I watched it! Happy New Year 🎆
Appreciate it Randy! Happy new year!

Get a Racing Beat cat back exhaust and you’ll never want to get out of that car !
Man, almost convinced me to pick up one of these. Lol. Id be super nervous about loss of compression.
So glad you got it started! Have one the same year and color. Enjoy!
Great vid and you gotta do a premix with your fuel.
Will do this on the next tank. Really starting to like rotary life 🍻

First time watching your video, congrats, I own a 1983-85 29:06 RX-7 , they are fun cars
I would love to own an RX-7. Been bitten by the rotary bug for sure!
Comp should be good

Hey I appreciate the info anyway! You were ahead of the game! 😂
If you want that motor to last run two stroke in the fuel
Good tip! Still learning the myriad quirks of RX-8 ownership
The RAM intake is a better choice than the AEM CAI in my opinion. It is the best of both worlds for the incoming air temperature and pathing.
Change radiatorfrom OEM its bad. OEM radiator were bad from the factory and they just love to crack after some heat cycles.
Coolant light means the sensor is broken. That's also a standard issue in rx-8 do not be bothered just check from time to time the coolant level. 😅
