[UPDATE: 9/16/23]
Cursed 2 received the Widescreen update on August 18th, 2023. The version being played here was how it was presented in early 2023. While some additions and fixes were made, the fundamental gameplay is much the same as it's ever been. If you intend to use this as a walkthrough, none of the solutions had changed.
[End Update]
Cursed 2 is a sequel to the first game made 10 years later by Disaster Squad. Like the first game, it is released for free on Steam, Gamejolt and Itch.io. This longplay is much more involved, going through the entire game, covering multiple endings, and uncovering as much as possible; even encountering some bugs, intentionally and otherwise. There are plenty of times where I save, and a few points where I crossfaded between footage due to me taking breaks (unless otherwise stated). Yes, I move my mouse a lot. Don't you?
If you are using this as a video guide, I will have chapters setup to aid you. Keep in mind that some puzzles and mazes I straight up brute forced, and there are likely much better ways to get through those. For any puzzles that did stump me, those had been edited down for brevity (except one). I do make stops at the gas station every now and then to refuel on the instant-recovery item. I did invest in the Mind stat so I can be less reliant, but such stops are inevitable for my skill level.
Coming off the first game, the sequel is a massive upgrade. Now having a full map with multiple locations you can explore. Unlike the first game, combat now has RPG elements, allowing you to allocate skill gems you can earn and place in six different skill slots to match your preferred play style. Once again, DS has implemented music tracks from various of other games, primarily NES games. While more action-packed than the first, it still has a bunch of horror elements that will earn some scares from you.

For those who are wondering what changes were made in the Widescreen update:
-All puzzle solutions are the same.
-You can now quit out of the special ending instead of ending the task.
-Skill gems can be rearranged. If you want to move them to Mind to heal up, but then move them back to Speed for combat, you can. This is a good way to survive in Hardcore mode.
-By beating the game, you unlock the Extras menu, which includes accessing the hidden Hardcore mode. Your old saves won't work, but there is a code that unlocks it right away. You can find it in the patch notes.
-A new ending has been added, and can only be obtained by beating the game in Hardcore mode, on the path to the True ending.
The mouse movements and gestures are all the commentary I need.

"You will not defy me."
"No, but actually YES!"
OH MY GOD THE TIRE PART I WAS CRYINGGG
that is genuinely one of my favorite moments in this game holy shiii
I kept failing at this on my first playthrough, and completely forgot about looking side to side. Thought it was on a timer. Silly me.
How exactly does it work? Is it if you drop the wrench when the reeds are rustling that you die?
@@darkdill I think it just depends on whether or not you can keep up with the speed of the wrench.
@@darkdill It is all based on noise. Any noise you make could arouse the attention of the monsters near you. The trick is you have to check both sides after attempting or completing the hex nuts removal/application. The crank itself doesn't make a lot of noise, but dropping the wrench and moving the tire does. The trick is that for any noise you make, you want to watch those cornfields. If they make any movement, a monster is nearby, and you want to stop what you are doing until the fields stop moving. Make too much noise, and it's game over.
I can appreciate the fact that, even though the assets are ripped, the author credits the source of his sound effects and music. This game is surprisingly solid for being basically a one-man project with hand-drawn art assets and little to no original sound work, made in GameMaker 8.
This feels a like a eldritch horror-themed, more action-oriented take on the classic MacVenture games, particularly Uninvited and Deja Vu. I can appreciate that the solutions to most of your problems are logical - you need hedge clippers to cut something far away, but they're rusty. Find some rust remover, and you can use them properly. I can also appreciate that there's 'red herring' uses for items, such as using the hedge clippers to trim the hedges outside the Tower, or using the Rust Remover on the rusty barrel at the gas station.
Having watched AngelHalo017's playthroughs of the other two games in the series, I think this one might be the high point in the series in terms of storywriting. It's got multiple endings and it's a lot more comprehensive and conclusive than the first game, without the third game's sudden swerve from eldritch and survival horror to borderline anime that occurs two-thirds of the way through. Also, props to the author for making the Grim Reaper something other than an antagonistic figure.
Pardon for the late response. I really appreciate all the time you put into writing this out and I'm glad to see that you enjoyed watching this through. Disaster Squad is making an update for the third game, and will eventually work on a remake of the first game. Keep an eye out!
1:56:55 - Casually commit a felony and we're on our way.
Well we all Need a sawn off Double barrel during a zombie apocalypse
Ah, dammit. Evil zombie head hits truck window.
Of all the games in the trilogy of this series I'd say I like this one the best. The effects of the evil you fight have escaped it's dimension and has now destroyed the town where there are tons of monsters coming at you. Also it's cool to have another game where Death is not a villain but a being all for balance and he's your ally. There's only a handful of games where Death isn't a villain.
Same! 😊
The bib thing was genius
I love it how this playthrough has time stamps in every event, but it doesnt skip the essentials.
Even without commentary, I basically know what's going by your interaction with the items. I wondered what was going on why the screen flashes with a red skull of some sort, and your hp decreases, until you hovered your cursor to the ruby ring you picked up.
Love the details, man.
Details like these are one big reason why games like these are fun~
I can see Randall bringing up the best ending death hates him bringing it up.
Wooah! Powers of "Fulgur Ferox?" Damn, that's interesting powers.
that's what happens when you combine waxworks and splatterhouse together
Thank you for doing this play through. I never heard about the game until you. LOVED watching through this!
Glad to had made this video!
It's free on Steam along with the other two episodes.
@@G0thCrayon Absolutely is! If anyone enjoyed this video, or would prefer to experience it for themselves, the only costs are your time and a bit of hard drive space.
Hey i like how they put the music from Once upon a time in the west in the intro. Gives it a creepy undertone. I hope Disaster Squad can make more games like this.
03:29:25 I classify this as a boss fight too, it took me the better part of an hour to fit the damn thing into my inventory just because I was too lazy to get back to the truck or to just leave behind items I didn't need anymore (namely the necklace and the coin)
I kinda forgot I had that many, and many of whom I wanted to keep. I rue the day I took item management seriously.
Thanks for this, was a big help the moments I got stuck that the guide didn't cover. Happy to say I went (mostly) blind though.
Love how we can understand you even without you speaking, thanks to the way you move the arrow.
Great video !
the malus sliding puzzle is hell someone help
It seems like when I felt I was ready to show a solution and recreate it, I end up fumbling it horribly as I did here and in the third game. With practice, it's honestly not too bad to do.
If Resident Evil was a macventure game.
A what?I think I heard of a console called MAC before,but I'm drawing a blank...
@@BrunoMaricFromZagreb point and click games like Shadowgate, Deja Vu, Uninvited, etc.
@@BrunoMaricFromZagreb When you hear the term Macventure, it typically refers to the trilogy of games that were released on Mac PCs: Shadowgate, Deja Vu, and Uninvited. All three games had NES versions, which this game drew heavy inspiration from.
Finally a video without coments
It took me a minute or two before I could place that Fester's Quest music.
The tunes in that game are pretty stellar.
Dude this song is from the Sergio Leone movie with Charles Bronson, Once Upon a Time in the West. This is Harmonicas theme.
@@mikeyloveshousemusic I'm not familiar with it. What point in the video are you talking about?
@@nickvanderpool7434 the opening credit song, the song that plays during the opening
Ahh! It's Jennifer. In her funeral coffin.
1:57:54 THESE, are the FACES, OF *E V I L !* Y O U must conquer E A C H !
Also, Speedrun is Bib%, right?
The only way to properly speedrun it, surely.
8:05
[a whole dead body on the floor]
"hmm this trash can is empty"
3:53:52 BUG I think the reason on why this bug happened was that she was about to get ready to instant kill the player but because you shot her in the middle of that animation before she can do anything the game didn't know what to do so it just kind of gave up which I found pretty hilarious
It's a fun one to trigger. Too bad it didn't account for the quick draw. Believe it or not, I did the same thing on my first playthrough, and did it again to be sure.
1:40:40 Wow Spongebob reference.
Ngl this was perfect timing
1:30:29
I hate sliding puzzles and despite your struggles with it, you made that one look like a joke to me.
I think my brain just isn't compatible with puzzles that use that kind of logic.
Pretty awesome looking game! It WILL be downloaded soon!
The undead guardian has phase 2, I like it. The best boss fight
1:30:41 you hit it so hard the tire punctured
anyone know where I can find that chiptune rendition of "Man with a Harmonica" in the title screen?
This game starts almost exactly as resident evil 2
Yeah, actually it kinda did.
Do you know the ost names during zombie knight boss fight?
Gremlins 2 NES Boss Fight, and Teleroboxer - Banshamen
Классная игра . давно таких не видел.
1:46:33 I feel bad for the human in the bag like Dude why and who
Death: (32:30) That's not the best thing to waste my time on.
EDIT: TIMESTAMP ISSUE
Why you gotta kill the zombie at 9:47
It isn't necessary to smash its head in, but if you attack it once, you cannot leave the gas station without getting a game over. If you hit it once, you must commit to it to survive.
I wanna kill red skull
Does the character you play have a name?
Randall. He appeared in Cursed 1 as the very same Redhead.
@@AngelHalo017 cool, Randall
@AngelHalo017 I'm pretty sure that if you play as him in the sequel is the player characyer in the first game actually anybody or just a nameless somebody that is actually canonicly killed in the first one?
@@owenkinder1076 Cursed 3 answers that question. I did a longplay of that too if you wish to see for yourself.
But your Spencer in Cursed 1 Your Randall in Cursed 2. Your Jennifer in Cursed 3
Will you ever cover the Cursed 1 remake or nah
So let me see if i got this right...🤔...😑...cult leader is...JENNIFERS OWN MOM?!?😲 guess she wouldn't win mother of the year
Does anyone know the song from the house level?
Had a heck of a time searching it myself, but Disaster Squad confirmed that it is Scary Intro V2, from Warriors of the Wasteland on c64; not to be confused with the album.
@@AngelHalo017 thanks alot i have also been searching it for a long time.
