That's a great dog! I started duck hunting in 1982 and out of all my labs, I had that one dog that was magical, looks like you have one also. Bo would chase cripples down all day that other people shot and bring them to me. He would jump coveys of quail, go on blind retrieves on the other side of the river with little to now direction, and had very little training, he just knew how to do it. Good breeding also played a heavy role in it. I always wanted to fish and hunt in Montana, you're a blessed young man to live there. Give that pup a scratch on the head for me, Labs are the best
Five Rivers Overland Hunting is so much better when you have a dog, there is no better feeling than watching them work and do what they love! Thanks for watching and for the compliments, I truest am blessed to live where I do. Thanks again, and I’ll give her a scratch when I see her in a few days and we are chasing goldneyees on the Missouri!!
“Pro” tip: Use those coots for jerky brotha. I’ve fed coot jerky to plenty of guys. Even if it’s not to your liking or if it was a bad batch, they make a hell of a dog treat. Mergansers always go for dog treat jerky!
Glens Hunting & Shooting it sure is!! Wasn't gonna let her go into the water at first and was just going to go on a walk due to it being so cold, but her energy and excitement chose other wise.. thanks for watching!
Bo Cefus Decoy hunting consists of my whole entire duck season haha, just go jump shooting when it's to cold to be sitting.. didn't get any footage of it this year due to not having the correct equipment yet! Next year I will have tons of hunts on film!!
Wes Quattrone I'm not completely sure but my guess is that it was because of the cold, it was below zero for 2 weeks straight and had been -17 the past 3 or 4 days... the birds both had ice on them and were extremely cold when I picked them up
Niks s I believe one of them had been shot prior and was crippled because of that, this day I saw many crippled and "freezing" birds... it was -17f this day and had been for a few weeks straight, the birds were starting to really be effected by it, saw one group of probably 25 coots all huddled up within a foot diameter to stay warm..
john20pb We have kayaks and I have always thought about doing it but have never gotten to it, if I was to do it I would go on another part of the river a little lower (waters slower and more shallow and there's tons of ducks). We have floated on a raft on the spot I described and done quite well for ducks!! It sure is fun too!
Super Jealous you have open water that late, down here in North East Wyo just a few stock ponds an they freeze fast. My dog has retrieved far more coots than I have ever shot but what can ya do haha
Brad Crowley I sure am lucky to have such a long season, never really think about how long it actually Is... dogs will do what dogs will do lol. Thanks for watching!
Thanks man! We get a lot of flack about the dog.. good to get some good feedback on her. We love her and love what she does for us even if her energy takes control often haha. Couldn’t have asked for a better hunting partner.

Nice video! Nova was getting mad you weren't shooting any so she decided to get a coot herself! That was the best part.
Haha, thats exactly right!!! First time shes ever done that, and she did it twice in one day... Thanks for watching!!!!
Ha I agree man that was pretty cool

The dog often gets the meat off of those haha. Most of the other ducks we make sausage out of, makes for delicious jerky and breakfast sausage!
Good stuff man! Beautiful landscape too.. we don't see anything like that here in Indiana. What region do you hunt in?
Waterfowl and Fly Fish I'm hunting near Helena, Mt in this one! Thanks for watching!!
Looks like a little place I visit also. Fishing is killer too!
What a beautiful place. That dog is brave entering that water.
Glens Hunting & Shooting it sure is!! Wasn't gonna let her go into the water at first and was just going to go on a walk due to it being so cold, but her energy and excitement chose other wise.. thanks for watching!
Back to duck depression :( Nice dog rlly wanted that coot lol
Adrian & Amy Perdue She sure did... Duck depression sure has been kicking in lately!!! Only 8 more months...
you ever decoy hunt?

Why were the coots injured?
Wes Quattrone I'm not completely sure but my guess is that it was because of the cold, it was below zero for 2 weeks straight and had been -17 the past 3 or 4 days... the birds both had ice on them and were extremely cold when I picked them up
That's a shame. Good job on the video too!
Wes Quattrone Yeah it really is to bad but I guess nature will take its course.. thanks!!!
why tho's coots were injured?

MtL Outdoors my dog has grabbed so many of those damn things
Your shooting is fractionally better than your dog handling lol
Stunning scenery.
We do our best... lol Thanks for watching!!!!!
"Why did you get that coot?"
"Somebody has to kill some birds.." -Nova
john20pb So true😂 Thanks for watching!!!!
No problem. Good video.
Have you ever tried kayaking down the river? That's about our only option for jump shooting down here.

MtL Outdoors I think she would be amazing at upland game

He can't hit them anyway
