Self restraint and patience takes time but experiences like this makes you reflect and learn pretty quickly. Good on you for showing your mistake. That's one of the best things about hunting - some days your quarry might outsmart you, and you must accept it and marvel at nature's ability to do so. It would only take away from the experience if it was easy!
Don't beat yourself up too much about that shot. We all have or will do it on occasion. Your realization of what it was and making a conscious decision to not do that again is key to growth and moving forward. Good luck the rest of the season!
I told you a couple of weeks ago I like all the hunts, field or water, but I think the water hunts are starting to get ahead a little on the like scale. Great video.
Good job realizing the mistake and analyzing your last shots. I actually just stumbled upon your channel and enjoyed the video. I was a little confused not seeing any hearing protection in the video and then seeing you rock the Tetra cap in the last segment.

These videos are awesome! I mentioned in a comment before about how the Oldtown Topwater 120 would be ideal for this. Consider reaching out to Oldtown and see if you can get a kayak in exchange for making a couple of videos. I've partnered with them on 4 different kayaks for my fishing channel. You'll get to keep the kayak.
I'm always looking for a safe way to keep my shotgun safe in my kayak..I noticed that you insert an empty shell in the ejection port of the shotgun and I believe that is a good safety practice. Keep bringing more river geese hunting videos.
@@HokeOutdoors Agree with you, it is a good practice. I personally use the other end of the empty shell to stovepipe and keep my gun safe. All the best.
Do you worry about shooting horizontal against the bank? You came across some campsites and even a couple cows lol. Sometimes there’s hiking trails along the river. Also curious what river this is?
Sorry, asking this on a second video here: what river is this? New, James, Clinch? We're trying to get onto some geese this fall, and thinking about how big a river we'd need.
Thomas have you ever given thought to a gun rack across your kayak, like on the front bars of a 4 wheeler, you could put one for your gun and one for your paddle.
I have given it some thought but it seems like it would get in the way too much with the current layout of my kayak. Typically I just tie a string to my paddle and gun to keep them attached to the kayak
What part of virgina is this I wanna do this so bad I own land in botetourt va but our river is too thin to hunt but water fowl fly down it all the time
