@@HokeOutdoors same here. Heading out tomorrow and hopefully hunting our river through the weekend. They keep changing the storms predicted so it’s a guess to how wet I’ll get lol. Last weekend was a torrential down pour but scratched off 2 geese.
@@HokeOutdoors Pretty quiet. Been busy with coaching my son's soccer team, but have had some excellent dove hunts. Duck season starts on September 24th and then my main pursuit, pheasants, starts on October 8th.
Love seeing the river hunts keep them up. I wish I had geese to shoot like that just shot a my First band ever and it was a white wing dove here in Texas
Lmao this kid doesn't know shit about waterfowl...RU serious...this kids a jackass...He shoots too far and best of all if he's in a blind as a guest because he doesn't have his own blind he fucking is first to jump up and shoot...Flock shoot that is....He's wack just letting you know..Watch Cole Townsend if you want to see waterfowl hunting done right
@@HokeOutdoorsI hope one day in the future I will be able to join you on one of your kayak hunting if you allow senior citizens :) Best of luck and keep them coming.
I love these videos, I'm purchasing a Discovery 119 here soon. Could you make a video about "how-to" float hunt? I would really appreciate if you include what vehicle you use, how you rig your kayak on it, how you would go about float hunting by yourself (where to park, can you row back upstream, etc.) I'd appreciate to know more about the nitty gritty of kayak hunting!
Just a bite of caution try not to reel against the drag when Fishin . Pump the fish up with rod then reel down to bring in the fish, this simple method works great on oversized fish !
Awesome video man, just found your channel and subscribe, I’m actually floating the same river this weekend and was wondering how the laws work on this. Do you need a floating blind permit?
Thanks brother! You're floating the same river as in this video? If so have you ever floated it before? I wouldn't recommend trying it unless you have been on this stretch beforehand since there's lots of rapids that can be tricky. You won't need a floating blind permit though.
Heard you mention wanting to hunt New York. I’m on the VT NY lower Champlain and hunt both states. Say the word. I’d love to help you out if I can. Long time follower! 🤘
I appreciate brother! I was hoping to make it up there this September but just ran out of time. If I can make it up that way later this season I'll be sure to let you know!
Can you say which river? Looks like some of the bateau channels I've seen on the Staunton, but saw some features I didn't recognize so guessing it's somewhere else.
Hoke would you ever offer to take someone on a guided hunt I’ve never been able to get a goose or mallard basically anything besides wood ducks I live in SC and it would be amazing to be able to go on one of these hunts
I'm always down to hunt with new people. I won't be on the east coast much this year though so I don't think I could help you out this season unfortunately
I just bought a new stoger m3000 shotgun, I'm wondering if I should clean it right away or break the gun in bit and then do the first cleaning. What should I do?
Don’t really think it matters as long as you don’t let it get to dirty, I’m bad about cleaning my gun a lot and don’t have issues just keep everything oiled
On those flybys, how far are you leading can't judge gees for the life of me. Say tour first geese, how far out are they? Looks like you had a solid 10ft+. Getting on field hunts doesn't really happen for me so I'm letting getting out exactly like you are.
Enjoy watching this video, but need some clarification on jump shooting from a kayak while in motion. A game warden told me this is illegal by federal law. Is this true?
@@HokeOutdoors Actually I had an accident when I was about 11 years old. Since then I am very afraid of water. In the beginning, I could not even close my eyes while bathing, but now I am afraid of the rivers.ponds etc.
Those smallies are the cherry on top! Nice.
They were a fun treat! Never expected to see any that big get caught
I’m loving the kayak goose hunting!
Thanks Trevor! Hopefully I'll have a couple more before the end of early season

I appreciate it! Gonna be testing out some of those in Minnesota very soon!
Hey Thomas, those were some dandy fish. never caught a smallie yet, bucket list fish for me. One of these days! Enjoyed as usual.
Thanks Gil! They're some of my favorite fish to catch, just wish I was better at fishing for them. Hope you get your first one soon!

I've never owned an SBE 3, I've been using a Franchi Affinity 3 for the last few years

What time is day do you do the floats?
Typically during the morning, these geese don't go feed in fields so we can really float whenever
must be so difficult to shoot from a moving kayak!
Dope video, If don’t mind what river is that?
Thanks Matthew! Can't share the river name on here
Literally first 2 flocks you can see what he does everytime and it's a problem

What gun are you using?
I just bought a new stoger m3000 shotgun, I'm wondering if I should clean it right away or break the gun in bit and then do the first cleaning. What should I do?
I would clean it first just to get everything clean
Don’t really think it matters as long as you don’t let it get to dirty, I’m bad about cleaning my gun a lot and don’t have issues just keep everything oiled
Where some of you float hunting the Susquehanna? I’d love to hear more about that. Live right next to it but never hunted it.
I would clean it right away and then shoot 1-2 boxes through it at clays to break it in
Never floated the Susquehanna. I was asking Nolan about the class of fish up there since he had fished a kayak tournament on the river recently

Just depends on how close they are. Typically only leading them 1-3 bird lengths so 2-8ft at most

Thanks for watching! You can shoot from a kayak in VA as long as you're not under motor or sail power.
Okay, thanks for the clarification.
You'll did better at fishing which has a lesser catch as opposed to shooting geese at a short distance 😊
