nice video, very interesting, thats really a big difference. I noticed with my sundews that some dont open their flowers when put under weak LED lights- outside in the sun or even in shadow they open them without problems.

A lot of my pings that grow in natural lighting tend to grow larger

Great video once again. For me natural sunlight equals bigger plant. LEDs equals smaller plant more color. Please do a video of the BCAPS show if you have time. I remember selling Star Wars 12 times in 1977.

I'm sure the natural lighting played a big part but could it also have been the quality/quantity of the insects it was getting? I've seen definite size differences in animals fed a prepared food vs natural/native.
Thanks for watching. Insects may play a part increasing the size of the ping. Since, my ping is indoors, there are limited amounts of fungus gnats caught on the pings themselves leading me to believe they did not have a big impact on the growth of the ping.

Did you take readings at window and grow rack to determine the parameters that drove the growth boost in the window? More CO2 from proximity to people? Higher humidity from kitchen activities? Wider spectrum of light (far red, uv)?

@@mypingtopia I’ll see if I can reproduce. I’m growing in a 2x4x7’ tent with full environmental control over temp, humidity, co2. I’ve set some VPD targets to simulate Mexican mountain climate and my lights are extended spectrum 380-780nm 220W spider farmer sf2000 which mimic the sun intensity ramp up and down. I’m about to add additional far red light to the setup for 30 min before and after sunrise/sunset. This can trigger leaf growth and elongation by simulating growing under a canopy where the red to far-red ratio is skewed.

Your windowsill must be low light. I live on the third floor in a South-facing apartment, and my pings grow more compactly in the direct sun on my windowsill than under light.
Yes, it’s lower light as I have to share a windowsill with my wife’s plants. 😆 I don’t mess with her plants.

Hello, I was looking to buy a snow queen and I was wondering what kind of light you give it and conditions
Thanks for stopping by. I have my snow queen under T5 Barrira LED lights. Light is 10 inches above my pings. Snow queen is thriving as I see multiple leaves pointing upwards, which is a good sign. Lights are also in the description of my videos with links to Amazon what I use.
@@mypingtopia ah I see because rainbow carnivores said please use soft light so I was skeptical of buying the plant worrying I would kill it. Do you think a sansi 36w bulb is too strong?
@@plantman3587 Agreed what Rainbow said, though you can also have the light further away to start so you're not right on top of the ping. Sometimes it just take time acclimating to your environment.
