First 5 minutes could have been said in 1 sentence " My Maserati has a valve variater noise and I am going to fix it myself" However, your introduction did give us a chance to see that classy looking soda drink in the cup holder. BTW- get yourself some fender covers, or at least a couple old blankets.

So, further down the track did your cam cap modification still work (keeping the cold start rattle at bay) ? I did mine a few months ago and it went away completely however over the past 2 days it's now coming back ! Am curious if the bearing in one of the check valves might be stuck open causing it or if the variators do need to be changed as a longer term solution. It's not as bad as before but noticeably there and it might get worse !

By changing the camshaft cap we don’t need to re-do the timing engine I guess…? (Only if we change the variator itself)

hi I'm French. I have for 1 week a very very slight noise at cold start. but it is very very weak. I think this is the beginning of the same problem as you? Do you think that replacing the anti-return oil solenoid valves would suffice or you have to work on the camshaft bearings. I may have also lost the spring and the ball as on your video. have a spring and ball reference. that I order the parts before disassembling.
thank you in advance for your feedback. I am using the translator.

Doing this has nothing to do with timing chain so no adjustments are needed. Now if you've been driving for years with the issue you might have to change your variations which then requires timing and much more work.
