In case anyone wonders, Ian Moore is even more proficient now. I saw him earlier this year, he was forced to save his voice at the show so he doubled down on the guitar. He killed it. If anyone thinks he lost his chops as his style evolved, they'd be wrong.
@@CHProductionCo Ian was ridiculously good back in those days. I was fortunate to catch him several times in Arkansas back then. Thank you for sharing.
Great stuff, thanx man! Saw Ian in Holland in those days. Miss him and this style around here. Love the feel, the vocals, the improvisation, the energy, the passion, the whole package.
Thanks for the upload. Great example of Ian when he was still a young puppy. This looks about the same time Fitzgerald's in Houston was still having him play downstairs. He improved as a guitarist thanks in part to one of my favorite live guitar players Chris Duarte who tutored Ian. Eventually Ian decided he did not want to follow in SRV's giant steps and be a guitar hero. He really was passionate about being a soulful singer song writer. Some of his CDs are not my style but he still plays the nasty blues sometimes when he comes to Austin with the old band.
Just incredible!

I figure everyone wants to leave their own mark in the music world, but I think Stevie would say Ian holds his own w/ ANY blues guitarist 🎸.
That's fascinating. I'd never heard that Ian Moore and Chris Duarte had ever been so close.
