Mo-capped games back in the day have held up Very well. Real people provided the skeleton, so the characters will always move more realistically than even the best animators could do.
Pausing the game to pick camo, weapons, and face paint never bothered me. I thought it added an RPG like tactical element. I liked the camo in 4 alot, But assumed that there wasn't a way to have that camo in MGS3 in1964 due to technology being different.
if they dont rebalance the game around smoother controls and new additions we will end up with a twin snakes situation where the first person aiming broke that games balance in half.
My only disapointment is that it is going to be 1:1 recreation when I was expecting 0'75:1 or something. Keep the exact same story and cutscenes and everything but give us bigger areas for it felt more like MGSV.
Yep and after previews where people from the press were allowed to play the first few hours it's confirmed to be exactly 1:1, down to the fade to black loading screens of each small section of the map that was only there because of hardware limitation at the time. Even the controls and gameplay are a massive step down from the fluidity of MGS 5 and it feels like playing a game from a few generations ago with only very minor changes. It's such a shame since all I ever wanted was the gameplay of MGS 5 with the story of MGS 3 but it looks like it's not gonna be the case this time.
They already confirmed that they are keeping the original voice work & mocap data intact so only gameplay & visuals should be upgraded and the rest left untouched.
They have made it clear a thousand times before that they’re not changing ANYTHING about the story, it will only have new visual and gameplay, THAT’S IT

you should watch a recent interview of the game titled "Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater - Official Xbox Games Showcase Deep Dive" from GameSpot. They interviewed the series producer and I think you'd be interested in it.
Hopefully they make surviving in the jungle much more difficult along with much faster stamina drain. I’ve played every difficulty of the original and I rarely ever needed to heal or eat.
I think the way the producer talked about preserving the original before releasing delta made me feel so much better about it. Especially since they aren’t just calling it “metal gear solid 3 (2025)” like a certain survival horror series….
Only thing I’m worried about is the guards and obstacles all being in the exact same place, if that’s the case, long time fans like myself will fly through the game in a couple hours. But here’s to hoping that’s not the case 🤞🏻
I will list 7 reasons that cause you to stop or partially stop moving, to showcase that the pacing and flow within the MGS3 maps is directly tied to its gameplay systems. - Being forced to stop and go into FPV to shoot a gun - Being forced to stop moving to crouch/go prone, as there is no crouch walking in MGS3 - Pause to heal - Pause to change camo - Pause to go into your backpack - Pause to eat food - Pause to go into the radio/Codec screen Seeing how they already modernized the acts of moving and shooting (there is crouch walking now and you can shoot while moving in 3rd person), I'm afraid of what modernizing the other 5 systems is gonna do to the pacing and flow of the game, and how much smaller/easier to get through the levels are going to be.
@@dead_end_alley coming from the near future, it seems like my biggest fears are getting realized. They even kept the loading screens and made 3 significant changes that will disrupt the pacing of the game dramatically: 1) Moving and shooting in third person 2) Crouch walking 3) Instantly changing camo on the fly without any animations involved This is very worrisome because they are seemingly not even trying to compensate for these huge changes with expanded-upon maps and massively upgraded enemy AI. I went from cautiously optimistic to concerned now. Please don't let this be just another Twin Snakes situation.

I did. But after I made this video. Loved the interview, it was shockingly humble and down to earth. David Hayter doing the marketing despite not recording new lines is such a legend move too.
@@dead_end_alley I had the exact same thought and was worried initially but man that interview was truly something else. I think its safe to assume that it should be in good hands :)
You can switch between original movement controls and a more modern approach (which will make things a lot easier but you can still play the game on European Extreme to compensate for that).
The survival viewer is gonna be changed and streamlined, they already said that. Also, it supposedly has new features. Such as wounds staying on your character model. So if you get hit a lot throughout the game, your Snake is gonna look like he's being put through the wringer.
I don't think it will come out 2025, unless it's been stated officially. It seems to me with the announcement of the different editions, and that it can already be pre-ordered even on steam, that it might mean the game will be out this year. Maybe before or after the release of Silent Hill 2, which is coming October 8. The only reason the game would come out at 2025 would be due to a delay.
Of the preorders available I saw one that listed the release date as December 31st 2024 in the UK. Not sure if this is accurate but it's the only one with a date.
@@Mikimarux If you're asking if the date is accurate, no it isn't. December 31st is obviously just a placeholder date. As for the year, it could be released in 2024, considering the footage shows that the majority of the game has been finished and is playable (at least up to the motorcycle chase with Eva as the driver). That said, we don't know if all the necessary story and gameplay features are in place, such as the Survival Viewer - they haven't shown them. So 2025 might be more realistic.
Dont worry the phantom pain will get a remake eventually and we can enjoy its unreal engine glory come to life in probably by then 8k or 16k you never know lol
The story, sound design and atmosphere of the original, with gameplay improvements from MGS5, and upgraded but faithful designs for the characters, weapons and locations. That's literally all I ask. And up until now these developers seem to have done a great job. The game also doesn't look like it will have any modern day woke politics in it. So please, PLEASE, Konami, at this point, you only have one job: do not screw this up for everyone.
Bro graphical fidelity has definitely lost its impact you hit the nail on the head there, graphics are so unimportant in my eyes nowadays i just want finished games with fleshed out mechanics, i believe the gaming industry has been starved of that for some time now with triple a studios thinking graphics is all that matters and that is the completely wrong approach.
about the lip syncing, the japanese trailer uses the english lip sync. This is typical in japan; historically they are used to anime not having the lips sync up with the voices. They are not particularly picky about this.
This will be Konami's biggest gamble. Will they be able to op MGS with Kojima? The shitty thing is people will always compare it to 5. A game that was released 10 years ago and for the team, it's gonna suck if it doesn't perform well
They should have remade the games in order of release, starting at MG1, so they can iron out the kinks before they get to the fan favourite. Also, i really hope its not 1:1, the PS2 limitations on map size seems really dumb for a current game.
I used to think like that too but MGS3 being remade first makes sense because it's chronologically the first game, which would be a great entry point for new fans, it's also not as outdated as MGS1 so it's not as difficult to bring up to today's quality, unlike MGS1 which would be very hard to recreate properly. It's also a safer bet to test the waters and see if fans react strongly to this remake, giving them confidence to tackle the more ambitious options.
I am still a bit worried. I'm not 100% happy with some of the face models, and we haven't seen EVA, so I'm afraid of some modern day censorship going on. But I am definitely less worried.
Id like to note that the 3ds version, crap as it is, also added crouch walking & over the shoulder aiming & it doesnt break the game whatsoever. Other things like, the wall hug being the front facing cling mgsv style, or being able to turn onto you back to aim behind you while crawling are just animation changes effectively. Its still the same wall hug, & rolling onto back just looks smoother that spinning 180 degrees on your belly lol but they still are both just imemdiate snap aiming
All of the innovation in these games is almost all directly as a result of Kojima and his team. With him no longer there, don't expect much innovation outside of what already existed in the original game and outside of other games currently.

They did a good job with characters' face shape, but these things have to be pointed out.
I totally get that. For me I need to see more of the Boss to make a judgement. As for Snake, he makes a lot of facial expressions throughout the original Snake Eater so I need to see how they're handled.
