    I know I'm late but have been looking for a kick mic I could afford and have to say and can't believe I'm saying it but the Behringer sounded fantastic!! I wound up buying one along with an EV Pl33 for the outside. Thanks for the Vid!! It was well produced, to the point and helped in my decision!

    The Behringer is the perfect metal bass drum mic. Sounds like a good trigger sample. Will be adding it to my arsenal.

      @@cblade007 Yup, same here, I don't use my D6 or d112, or really anything else, it captures perfectly. Ive even tried recording that mic using 2 inputs, one Id tweak the high end out, the other id have a more natural beef, and it sounded amazing

    I love those low frequencies in the Behringer BA19a. Really sets it apart and gives it a thick body. It sounds a little softer and more rounded too, not as compressed and in your face, which I like because it's easier to get it to sit in the mix better and you can always compress it with plugins if you want.

      I am sold on the Behringer especially for the price. The eq is almost flat with little adjusting and compression.

      @@electronik808 I'm not sure if the cajon has enough room for the Behringer since it is a boundary mic and it needs to set inside on a towel/padding.

    I had been using a Sennheiser e602 for years and a fellow sound engineer suggested the behringer BA19A mike as being one of the best they have heard. I had some Amazon rewards and purchased the mic which was free using the rewards. Around $65. After using it I would have paid twice as much for it because it truly is one of the best kick drum mics I have ever used. I would even put it in the Earthworks SR20LS range. The eq is flat and if you want a little resonance, you can always add effects. The dead sound helps reduced feedback rumble and you have more control of the low end. The high end eliminates having to add a ton of high end on the eq.

      I couldn't have said it better.. As engineers we can tend to hear with our eyes.. If it's an expensive mic, we convince ourselves that the sound is good and vice versa. Glad to see Behringer breaking some "rules" here...

  • @theguy4361
    @theguy4361 2 года назад +21

    This video is very misleading, I suspect an awful mic placement for any other than the behringer, for the simple reason that you can't really misplace an inside mic
    But all the other ones should not be that boomy, they all sound terrible. The problem being that making a shootout without showing how it's done is basically worthless
    No bad intents but I have to point this out

    I have the akg.. the behringer.. and used to have the audix.. for classic bd sounds the akg wins.. For modern rock and pop the behringer blows the competition out of the water. the Beyer is nice though.
    it also depends on your bd and tuning and drum room.. In my studio the behringer is king. With my favorite kit.. and room.. the behringer sounds AWESOME!! it even retires my subkick.. it's not needed.
    it's not only cheap. it's also one of the best BD mics out there.

      @boladrumsof  3 года назад

      Yes, the Behringer kick ass, one time i use behringer (kick in) and d6 (kick out) and in the mix I preferred to only use the behringer :D , but as you say it depends tuning, room, anda material of bd.

    The Behr BA19A wins as is, without any processing. Its price give no chance to other solutions. But i can't get clear: why doesn't this mic transduce the natural sustain of the instrument? All other microphones provide some ambience and natural tone of this bass drum. But the Behr sounds like a trigger. Why?

    Def the cheap BA19a is the new kid on the block. Better than the Shure 91a which was my fav for a long time.
    My D6 and Beta 52a are seating for a while after this.
    BA19a That's the frigging sound I want. The rejection on this beast is incredible for $80
