I like how Tuomos plays the piano like a man possessed in the video. I also like his usual appearance which brings to mind a character from some sort of fantasy tale.
I love so much Nightwish... I mean i can't say anymore that you are just a band to me,since i started listening to your songs i feel more alive and i'm not so stressed anymore! One of the things i like in Nightwish is that the lyrics of any song are not random lyrics and crap, but they have a point and a meaning, also you guys combine music and lyrics so well! I'm a Nightwisher for 3-4 months now and i already love all of you and know most of the things about Nightwish. I wish to see you someday,i would be really happy and cry over and over because of happiness, lol😂 Thank you Nightwish for make me feeling much more alive and much more happy,i wish to all of you the best for the rest of your lives, greetings from Greece🇬🇷💜
I understand why they chose this song. It's quite accessible to the masses. That's the purpose of singles, to sell. We fans have already bought the album. The more people who like Nightwish, the better, right? If they released "Yours is an Empty Hope", passer bys might be scared off because that song is heavier. I recommend listening to your songs around people like your parents or siblings. You then start to listen to songs as an "outsider". I never notice how heavy some songs are until I listen to the song with other people who never heard it before. This song is fine. It's similar to Alpenglow and Edema Ruh. I do prefer the other album tracks (Elan is my favorite however).
It is true that it's rare for bands to have subjects such as these. Science, evolution, the beauty of life... But there are bands that do it quite well, like Epica. Let's not forget their last album turned around the subject of the quantum enigma, which is a quantum physics subject, but also, more largely, it talked about the human mind, and it's one of my favourites. Now, this album touches another very interesting matter, evolution. But it's also the beauty of life in all its grandeur, and yes, Endless Forms Most Beautiful is a great single to showcase that. I love this album, and more so songs like Shudder before the beautiful and the amazing last two songs are epic as heck!
nimedhel09 Actually Epica didn't quite nail the reality of quantum physics in their latest album. I mean it was great musically, but the concept was a bit too "fantastic". There is a big misunderstanding in the "observer's effect" (the process in which a quantum particle is defined as either a particle or a wave) which is very common. The misunderstanding is that we shape the universe with our conscience. As beautiful as that sounds it's not really true. The observer's effect requires an observer, true, but not in the way some people think. This "observer" can be any other quantum particle with which it interacts. Until a quantum particle is able to interact with another quantum particle they will continue to behave as a wave. There are other mysteries surrounding the topic, but nothing as "big" as saying that we shape the Universe. Mark is a great musician and he reads a lot but he must have read the wrong book or watched one of those pseudoscience videos on youtube. Nightwish's take on science on the other hand is perfectly well done, more specifically in the last epic track. Not only because of how accurately it portrays evolution, but because it does it in such a poetic way it sends shivers run down my spine. Two great bands, definitely, but this album is an actual big accomplishment in the metal scene. Cheers and enjoy the music!
MetalVolnutt Well, I think that they didn't stick to the science part on the album, they also added some philosophical thoughts, so that's why it's not that accurate scientifically. But I have to agree that this album is an accomplishment musically. The last song... I don't have words to describe how beautiful and amazing it is. It's like an aria more than a track song. I feel like some people that don't like it do not see the beauty of it and its goal, which is to summarize more than 4 billion years into 24min. Haha, you too, enjoy the music and have a dreat day ;)
Very well-said, both of you! I tend to agree that "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" as an album managed to capture the scientific concepts being explored better than Epica's last album (especially the unbelievably amazing "The Greatest Show on Earth"). That said, Epica's contribution is almost as noteworthy. It's certainly a bit more philosophical and less accurate as far as scientific content goes. Lyrics are often poetry paired with music. So I think their more fantastical take on things works on that level. It doesn't quite capture the concepts as well but it doesn't seem like that was necessarily their goal. It's pretty hard to compete with "The Greatest Show on Earth," though. Initially I thought the hype for it before release was exaggerated. How could a 24 minute song possibly live up to the hype? Then I listened to it. And listened to it again. And again. The whole album has had that effect on me but that last song? Simply an incredible feat from a lyrical and musical point of view.
nimedhel09 Don't forget that it is very hard to create an album or song about science because "science" is only what we know at the moment and for a song to last you need to sing about concepts such as this. A.k.a. well established theories or laws in science, otherwise that might change. But that is to say a bit too much , there was a song (can't remember it's name which is a shame at the moment) that sung about thermodynamic laws including the first law that, in English, got changed (verbally to include work, not the actual law). That's why as far as I understand it why we don't have songs about science in the degree that there should be compared to broken heart/in love songs....
Maybe someone might know the answer to this but why isn't this song featured in their live set? It's a bit strange really but something I have noticed throughout the tour. I half expected them to play it at Wembley but nope, not featured again.
Here's a song idea. Living forms are composed of particles held together bey craving. They are inconstant, stressful, nothing to say this is me, nothing to say this is mine, nothing to say this is who I am.
For me this is the worst song on the album, but it's a ok song... I think "My Walden" would be a better single, or a heavy song, like "Weak Fantasy" or "Yours is...
Todd Muerto an insult for who ? :)) For Nightwish I guess :)) but at least he's right....this one is catchy like an Eurovision song ( a heavier one :)) )
This whole album rocks, PERIOD!!!!
Love this song!! Tuomas is a genius
totaly deserve your place and your talent is definitly fookin' welcomed

HA! So it wasn't only me that thought that the song seems like a Eurovision song contest tune! :P
Floor Jansen
i guess "The Greatest show on earth" would be better to a single.

Why was episode 20 removed? Accidentally released it instead of ep.19? Someone fucked up. Lol.

Did this come out as a single after the release of the album? Because I had no idea this was a single.
Composer1992
It did come out after the release.
CAN I USE PARTS FROM THE MAKING OF IN A DOCUMENTARY OF NIGHTWISH?
Ребят, а на русский можно? Именно не второй превод с аглицкого))

Catchy Eurovision-like chorus? That's an insult.
