How tf is that cringe ? Is like saying that i love the color blue and you say it's cringe. Many Sonic fans found this model way better than Lost World model, or Hedgehog engine 2 model because his long quills give him attitude, but the New one is kinda boring. So i don't see why finding a model better than another is cringe.
