It's those small moments with Zuko and Iroh that really show just how much Zuko loves and respects his uncle. He was willing to put up with feeling humiliated as beggars until the guy started swinging his swords at Iroh and insulted him. That was the moment that crossed the line for him, and even Zuko stealing a fancy tea pot for Iroh is another example of the love and respect he has for him. Zuko doesn't want better just for himself, but also for his uncle.
9:26 Have you ever heard a mountain lion “roaring?” They can’t actually roar, but they try to and end up sounding like a woman being brutally murdered. Imagine being in the middle of the mountains on a hiking trip and suddenly hearing that.
Cool fact, the swamp being all one tree has a lot of real life parallels, the most famous being Pando which is the world's heaviest living organism. It was just 1 tree that just kept growing itself for miles so the entire forest is just 1 thing keeping itself alive through sheer size, and for weight it weighs 6600 tons.
Yep, the one that comes to mind for me is pando. It’s a clonal colony over 40,000 aspen tree clones that all grew from the same root system. In total it’s spread across 106 acres of land and is considered the largest known organism via mass.
Hey, just wanna assure you Alicia as the resident card carrying atheist that it's totally chill for you to talk about things that inspire you, and yes if that includes your faith and spirituality your still chill. So long as your faith isn't used to hate (and I somehow doubt a kind person like you would), I love to hear about how it makes people feel even if I don't believe in it or get those feelings, so don't be afraid to share it if you feel it's important. After all, we're here to watch you!
Pretty sure that the lady that give Iroh a coin is voice by Johanna Brady, Yue's VA. Probably since they got her back in the studio anyway for the lines with Sokka.
Set my lines by the river bed Caught ten fish and I killed 'em dead Cut 'em and gut 'em and I tossed the heads In the water to keep them cat-gators fed
i think this season is really the zuko and iroh show, not that i dont enjoy the stuff our gaang gets up to, but theres so much depth in the dynamic between zuko and iroh that i absolutely love
Remember what they said about how things are connected and bending. How they earth bent coal even though it wasn't just earth? same things you'll start to see apply because you are bending those parts in what you're moving. It all still follows with the same philosophy there.
A fun little detail that I learned from "over analyzing Avatar" is that we see a cart of masks wheel by Zuko and Iroh, one of the masks you can see is a Blue Spirit Mask, so that's where Zuko got the mask we see him in at the end of the episode cause most likely the original got burned up with his ship in book one
For your analogy about the tree, there’s actually a real world version of the swamp and that’s the Sequoia Tree. The trees are famously hard to knock down and people used to think it’s because they had deep roots, but in fact they have very short roots but they twine them together and support each other making them become like one large tree spread out over wide areas
I would love to hear the logic behind why it is a bad lesson to teach kids that time and death are illusions when it comes to the people you’ve cared about in your life that are no longer with you.
So I know I’m kinda late to the party on this episode, but the main parallel of the swamp is with Siddhartha Gautama, the first Buddha. He came to reach enlightenment under a tree after many years of spiritual searching and found that the true obstacles to achieving enlightenment (Nirvana) is benign lost in the many illusions of the world. To fully embrace Nirvana you need to shatter these illusions and see the universe for what it truly is, one large interconnect system. Everything is one and identity, time, life and death, sufferings and happiness, etc are parts of the illusion that keep us away from reaching enlightenment
Annihilate the like button? But that would mean no one else can click it! I'm a bit conflicted about the guy who made Iroh "dance"... on one hand he acted horribly, but he did give actually give them the gold coin, where everyone else tossed in a copper or two. Now I don't know how the coins relate to each other, but usually in such settings you have copper, silver and gold, which would make that single gold coin quite a bit of money. So even though he did it in an unbelievably disrespectful way, he did also helps them a lot on the purely pragmatic side, more than anyone else, considerably more than anyone who tossed out of a few coppers.
I never noticed before, at 1:22 the cart rolls by and you can see the Blue Spirit mask on it, which explains how he got a new one after his ship blowing up in season 1.
Ancient spirit Swamp reaching out with all its power to contact the the avatar to share its wisdom Aang: bye swamp 👋 Swamp:AM I A JOKE TO YOU !?GET OVER HERE!
24:49 we have one of these irl, we also have a fungus that's like this the forest is called pando and the fungus is an armillaria ostoyae they are the second and first largest living organisms respectively
I kinda love the swamp benders. They're my people. Also, the catfish gators are great because it's like the two most 'swamp' type creatures combined into one. Edit: I forgot they mentioned possum-chicken.
My biggest take away from this when I first saw this episode (I think I was 11 or 12) was humans are all the same. It doesn't matter what part of the world we come from, we are all humans. Human is the trunk of tree, different races and religions are the branches
Your emotions on parasotial relationships and extended relation to everything around you is something everyone on the gifted spectrum of neurodivergence feels instinctively.
I wish people embraced commonalities and communities around knowledge instead of around the concept of a lack of knowledge, aka religion. It has hurt humanity so bad in the past and still is a widely used insturment for harm. Humility and thankfulness for all we learned and anticipation and curiosity for all that we can still aim to learn should be the beacon that moves us forward, in my opition.
I can't wait for you to meet the next permanent addition to the gaang, you are going to love her! Speaking of things you will love, you could also check out Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel, which is coming out next summer. Helluva Boss is on RUclips and you can watch the Pilot of Hazbin Hotel for now. I have a good feeling you will enjoy both.
i will say tho if the swamp is gonna get bitchy because sokka cut some wood for the fire then it shouldn't have dropped them in the middle of nowhere okay?
Never really understood why Sokka was in denial of the mystical forces in the swamp. He's been kidnapped by a spirit monster and taken to its realm for goodness sake. How can he be so thick headed as to not presume that this swamp could be teaming with spirit action? "That's avatar stuff, that doesn't count". HOW? How does that not count? Sokka often seems to make excuses when he's blatantly proven wrong about something, and it's a little annoying frankly.
the world is a balloon, and people in power and other assholes keep trying to poke a hole in it. and for some reason, attempting to do so STILL is not cause for being shot on sight.
Alicia in Book 1 Ep1: "Wow, Sokka's kind of a shit head, fr."
Alicia in Book 2 Ep4: "No! My baby doesn't deserve this :( "
Damn even I got hit with character development from this series haha

Why did I laugh so hard at that line
At 1:22 you can see the blue spirit mask, explaining how Zuko has the mask again

"Yo mama dead as hell," absolutely broke me. Thank god i wasnt taking a drink of anything at the moment. XP
For me it was, you know what's at the end of that trail? Bitches
There's a forest in Utah spanning 106 acres called Pando that's actually clones of a single male aspen tree, interconnected by a massive root system.
13:50 "No way you're thinking this is your mom. Your mamma is dead as hell". Hahaha, luckily Katara can't hear you or you'd get waterbent.
Or worse...... *wink wink* 😈
There are actually forests in reality that are basicly the same tree spread out over verry big distances.
You mean like Fleur de morte from The Unexpectables?
Yep, the one that comes to mind for me is pando. It’s a clonal colony over 40,000 aspen tree clones that all grew from the same root system. In total it’s spread across 106 acres of land and is considered the largest known organism via mass.
@@sirshotty7689 Haven't scientists also talked about how its roots could, hypothetically, operate like a brain of sorts?
Aang and Katara: "You shouldn't be chopping vines in the swamp!"

4:59 " BETTER THROW IN AN EXTRA YIP!!!"

Alicia: Why is Appa such a badass.
Appa: *Is a 30 foot wooly lobster, that can fly.*
That immediate switch at seeing sokka meeting yue(?) again had me cackling
