The tow rating reduction is also because they couldnt add the additional cross member in the rear to support the frame twist under towing due to the exhaust taking up too much room. The raptor bronco has that cross member there, and that allows is the higher rating 🤙

I love the "Bronquito" moniker. We had a 2006 Ford Escape with a non-EcoBoost 2.3L V4 under the hood, which I understand is the ancestor to the engine you have. Hopefully the family tree carried over, because our 2.3L was a super reliable beast, even without the turbos. The only reason we don't still have that Escape is some Hyundai Santa Fe decided to try to kill my wife, and the insurance company totaled it. At least the Hyundai wasn't successful -- in fact, the roll cage held up surprisingly well. Wife got away with bumps and bruises.

    • @theangrymarmot8336
      @theangrymarmot8336 2 года назад +5

      Just for some clarification - it isn't a "V4" but an "I4" er inline. Ford hasn't made a "V4" since the 60s!

Yes, insurance companies lean towards totalling cars, even if the paint matching cost is the, only issue. The escape alternator change is, ridiculously, difficult. They are durable enough to last a while for young people and they drive, aggressively. 👌

    Happy Friday Eve Sarah!!!
For a Bronco, yes, 2dr is the only way to go, because heritage. But I do love my school bus, 4dr JK, more room for cooler with cold snacks and regular snacks, seems more planted in extreme rock crawling situations. I had an 87 full-size Bronco back in the mid 90s and loved how it turned on a frickin dime.

thats not a strange shape for a driveshaft. that is the splined portion of a 2 piece shaft, which allows it to lengthen and shorten as your suspension compresses or extends.

The 2015-2017 2.0 Ecoboost has the design flaw with the block cooling channels on the deck of the block that clog around 30-50k miles, which blows the head gasket, allowing copious water intrusion, hydrolocking the pistons, and destroying the motor. Happens with most of them, I had one, and of course, like the one with the bad valves, Ford isn't taking responsibility or recalling them. I hate Ford. sorry.

Another awesome video. Informative and fun to watch. My 1991 Honda Civic RT4WD had a manual transmission with a creep gear. That creep gear was the bomb! Instead of starting on a icy surface in 2nd gear, put it into creep, drop the clutch, and it was amazing how the engine would rev but it maintained an ultra slow speed.
In the video during the breaking test and when descending that super steep hill, I thought for sure you were going to go ass end over front! I wonder how much of that shift in weight is due to the tent top. If you’re not gonna use it, you should take it off. Personally I would prefer the clean lines of the truck without the tent top. Plus, it would make it easier to remove the roof. I would see myself removing the roof much more than I would use a tent.
Great stuff! The hard part is sitting and waiting for the next video. :-)

How is everything going for you on this fine day? Throw a front locker and an R2.8 Cummins in that Bronco, and if you get it stuck, you didn't have the skill to drive there yet. P.S. If you ever need help taking your top off, I have a firm grip and a soft touch. That way your roof panels won't get damaged. It's weird I have to explain that.

Loved this video a little too much...because now I want one. Exactly like this. Except maybe in that yellow/orange color, so the wheel color would have to change too. I've always wanted something in that color...although you can't go wrong with the neutral color you picked.

Yep, the Gallo 27 had the failing valves, the Gallo 23 had the failing brakes... LOL

Change the oil every six months minimum. You will be glad you did.

Oh Sarah, you weird, quirky, giant woman. You can't give a long term rating on something that only has 1000 miles, and which you are still learning things about every time you sit in it. Haven't been in the back, haven't taken the tops off. Still much driving to do first.

idk why, but a 90s Bronco II review might be a pretty rad follow-up for what you did with Pokey here.

Great pick Sarah! Mines nearly the same but 4 dr. Sasquatch. Love the marine seats and rubber floors! The 2.3 is far quicker than expected, and with a tune (and exhaust), even better. Most fun and attention grabbing vehicle ever!!!

Bronco oil catch can. I put an oil catch can on my new hyundai 1.6 T. I checked it after 2,000 miles and it was completely dry, not even a hint of oil residue. 🤔 I don't know what to make of that. Has your Bronco catch can been catching any oil?

Great review! I was waiting for it to get more info about the BD. Really looks like a fun vehicle. Can’t wait to get mine. Already ordered, just waiting for production. Thanks for doing that.

Hi Sarah... I watched your review yesterday and today I got an insight into maybe why your Bronco dived so hard under heavy braking (yes, it takes me that long to figure something out). I wonder whether your Bilstein shocks on front have a damping function where you can adjust them to compensate for the heavy nose dive you experienced while braking. I know the Bilstein shocks on my truck had a damping dial. Just a thought.
