As if Nintendo and SEGA couldn’t have had any more competitions, they decided to compete against each other with one of the biggest fast food chains in history.
Oh man, I actually had that red Koopa Trooper toy as a kid. It didn't have the hose and button, so my mother probably got it from a 2nd hand store or yard sale, but I had that thing for years, and it was one of my favorites. I had completely forgotten about it until I saw it in this video, so thanks for unlocking a forgotten memory, Peebs!
There's also the fact that because of the contract with McDonalds, Sega had a hard deadline for the release of Sonic 3. So the developers set aside half the levels originally planned for the game just to make sure it got out on time, and then put them in Sonic & Knuckles. Which means we have Ronald and Friends' lawyers with their McThreat of financial penalties in the event of non-compliance to thank for Lock-On Technology.
Funny you're saying that as my country had the exact same Sonic Happy Meal toy set in this video but the Tails one was different. It had the same flat plastic piece with stickers but everything else was different. Ours was basically a slowly wobbling chunky beyblade plus a ripcord with the plastic tails part spinning fast.

I had the tanooki mario one. Never used the spring, but i had a wrecking-ball car toy thing that had nothing to do with mario. So, my friends and I attached Mario to that and named it ‘Wreck-It Mario’. It became an inside joke with my friends, thanks for giving me these memories back

Knuckles is functioning how a real life beyblade would and Luigi is functioning like a beyblade in the anime does. I take crazy unpredictable Luigi over Knuckles any day. Still love both characters thought!

I really enjoyed this video, I have quite a bit of nostalgia towards both sets of toys. I was too young to get the Mario 3 toys when they were current but ended up getting them from a relative around 93 When the Sonic 3 toys were out and I remember enjoying both. I especially had fun with the Tails launcher and the Sonic, I used to take them to the park all the time.

*A little fun facts about Sonic 3 Happy Meal promo!* The Sonic 3 Happy Meal box is actually hella cool, since you can cut some parts of it, and make like little stages for the toys and other figures, the boxes were: - Angel Island - Marble Garden - Ice Cap - Launch Base (This one haves a cool sunrise background tho) The reason why Knuckles haves that random ass cloud it's because of one concept text of Knuckles before he was finalized. If i remember right, the text says something about Knuckles doing some Taz type of thing. Idk if i got it right or not. The toy set actually had a 3 year old toys. It's a ball with Sonic printed on it, and one for Tails. They're balls, so yeah, the Sonic 3 toy set wins lmao Tails one was kinda recalled, i'm not sure, but they changed it for one that it's just Bayblade. And even in Japan they removed entirely of the set. (Also yeah, JP one haves the actual Eggman design lolololol-) Somehting something McDonald's promo was one huge reason why Sonic 3 was split into two parts, yadah yadah. What people don't know is that Flying Battery in the first half (As it should be) was snuck in the promo bags. Those bags had some sort of mini games, involving places from Angel Island, Marble Garden, Carnival Night and Flying Battery, yeah. As random bonus, SEGA was hella dumb. They should have brought back that promo to promote Sonic Mania, but noooo, SEGA liked Hooters for Forces, why the fuck not! SEGA, IT WAS RIGHT THERE THE PERFECT PROMO CAMPAIGN *RIGHT THERE-*

The Robotnik toy actually had his game design in Japan, but it's significantly harder to find than the one released in America.
I used to have it with the bag, bought it off buyee(Proxy service), along with Sonic, tho I eventually sold it

I had the Knuckles and Robotnik toy, but also had a yellow ball which had Tails on it. Also, the cloud Knuckles is riding on is a cartoon fight cloud.
My grandma has the cloud Luigi, and I used to play with all the time as a kid. Such good memories.

Beyblades actually work more like SONIC did irl. There's a device to launch them, and when you do, they shoot forward and spin.
