Until one day my brother foolishly the loudspeaker to the wrong output of the amplifier and blew the crap out of the speaker and of course all the copper wire on the voice coil untravelled as it was acting as a fuse, a big loud " bang" and a cloud of dust. I was just wondering if you have ever re- coned one of these?.
I have 2 of these not blown YET but I do and will reconsider them if they ever do I'll reuse original dust cap and all try to keep them as original as possible
Ok now I remember those we just wasnt into subwoofer building back then we just bought subs and bang em.I had the silver Orion HCCA 2400 said competition right on it.But that frame and basket is superb that sub gonna hit good find Eth👍💰💪.

Awesome awesome video! What would you recommend rebuilding old school (ThePunch) 12’ Fosgate subs. With the inverted dust cap. Would like to get as close as I can on them looking vintage.
That would require breaking it in and further testing. Increasing power rating would come in either thermal or mechanical. Thermal won't happen without changing the basket as the coil is already a 500 degree coil (I'm assuming the original was too, may or may not be) and mechanical would just be a tighter suspension which would raise Fs. You could add mass to lower the Fs back but then you're making it less efficient and raising the Qts.
