@@skittles2055 shutup no one wants to adopt an animal which would be IMENSELY hard to “tame” to a basic standard and is more aggressive and stressed which requires more experience and skill. Telling everyone to adopt pets is just asking for more people to mistreat already mistreated pets
I have a Blue Front Amazon. He hardly talks at all, he is actually very quiet, and wants to murder everyone but me. I think it is very important that people consider their expectations when getting a bird, because there are NO guarantees - especially when it comes to talking. I know people with African Grey parrots who are not good talkers. You never know what kind of bird you are going to wind up with. Before I got mine, I considered all of my reasons for wanting a parrot, and decided that I would accept him for who he was and would be committed to him for as long as he lives. Sure, it would be cool if he talked more, but I don’t love him any less because he doesn’t.
We adopted our Red Lored Amazon Gus at 44years old. He is pretty quiet, doesn't play with toys and wants to murder everyone except my son. When my son left for ten days, Gus warmed up to my husband very nicely. As soon as my son got back home, Gus hated my husband again. It's nice to know that they CAN love again, but it has to be the right person.
@@katkat6466 very true. When I got Max, he just sat frozen in his cage, like a statue. I was concerned because both of his two previous owners had been men, and I did t know if that was what he would prefer. I agree- the talking is fantastic, but it doesn't make the bird's personality. They are so much more than their ability to talk. When you genuinely love them, as you do, the relationship is incredible. Besides, hearing "Hello!" over and over is over-rated! LOL

I’ve been reading so much on the Mexican Red Headed Amazons for a few years now. It appears they are calmer than the “hot 3” I been reading about. I finally have a chance to get a baby that is being handfed. There are 2 extremely young babies. One has a vibrant red head and one seems a bit more dull red head. I just bought your Bliss Bond audio book yesterday. I want to be sure I can get through the hormonal stage. What are your thoughts on getting this baby? Is it still highly likely he will get aggressive eventually and bite me hard and continue to do this for a long time?
I have a strict diet for my parrots. My Red-head gets no seeds and no fruit. Not good for him/Amazons. Honestly, I don't really have hormonal birds. Ursulus is 4 or 5.
