I have a air 3 at the moment, and it’s super good. Just because the new one is out doesn’t mean this one is bad. You can use your air 3 like a new iPad without the home button by swiping up. It does work, so the air 3 is mostly the same.
I have an Air 3 but I have a hard time to justify the upgrade for my use cases. It is not just the iPad but new cases, pencil and/or keyboard cases too. So the total cost is a lot higher than just the iPad itself.
The iPad works amazingly the box came a little dirty, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA no plastic wrap, but the box was sealed and had everything else in the box along with the wrapping, the iPad itself is gorgeous, I got the yellow 64g game storage is good for me along with Socials and school stuff. No scratches or marks came with the charger and box fast speed, and if you are buying a pen get the 1st gen don’t make the mistake I did !!
Thank you! Few months back I purchased an Air 2019, I thought about selling it and upgrading, but there’s not much of a difference aside from the redesign.
I bought the iPad air 3 right before the 4 was released. I am actually happy, as I prefer the classic iPad design. It's more visually appealing to me...
I did the upgrade and honestly speaking the Air 4 is another world. Despite being the Air 3 still a modern and gorgeous device, the Air 4 brings all the missing features I was looking for into tablet of that price range, like a USB-C port which also supports hdmi out, 20W fast charge, a real stereo speakers experience, a symmetrical larger display, a modern look, a decent camera and a proper magnetic slot for the pencil. The Air 3 is a good piece of tech but it's just missing some mandatory stuff for a premium device, gaming and media consumption on the Air 4 are on another level, it's more expensive than its predecessor but I'd say the difference is justified, also because with the A14 it features one of the most powerful mobile SoCs around. I would say, if you guys feel good with your Air 3 don't do the upgrade since it still rocks, but if you feel like you want something more, you're missing those extra features that would make the difference for you but still you don't wanna spend the big amount of money for the Pro, the Air 4 is the perfect deal.
Literally 100% me too! I got my iPad Air 3 second hand quite late into the year and wasn’t 100% happy with it and I ended up getting the air 4. The air 3 still has the same re-sale value and I sold the Apple Pencil very close to the RRP, so all in all not much money wasted. It’d be a different story if I had bought an random android tablet, they have barely any resale value!!
My mum recently bought my cousin's old A9-powered iPhone 6s for my youngest sister. I had updated it to the latest iOS 14 version and it is crazy to see how well that 2015 iPhone performs six years later. My point here is that if the old 2015 chipset like the A9 can still have stellar performance despite using the latest version of iOS, I absolutely see no reason to upgrade to the new iPad Air 4. The iPad Air 4 may have A14 chipset and USB-C port, but the iPad Air 3 has a much bigger battery and the still-relevant headphone jack.

Same, I bought an iPad Air 3, Logitech Combo Touch and Apple Pencil 1 in Summer 2020. One of the best purchases I’ve ever made. Definitely don’t need to upgrade to Air 4. This has basically replaced my laptop now and is fantastic for productivity.
I love my iPad Air 3 that I purchased Spring 2020 as Apple refurbished. It seems flawless so far and really enjoying it. I have the Logitech combo keyboard cover, no screen protector needed with that. I got the Apple Pencil too as a Father's Day gift. The only disadvantage is the speakers on one end. Sounds great with headphones. My wife and I love headphones listening to classic rock albums with a Y adapter.
@@MaxTechOfficial Could you also make one based on the accessories we have? (like what device we should get if we have Apple Pencil 1st generation and 2nd generation)
Yes, it was really worth upgrading. 2 years later and I do not miss one-sided audio or the Pencil sticking out the side of the iPad ready to be broken. Air 4 is still a powerhouse portable mini computer and with Magic Keyboard, it goes everywhere.
I am on a school where you need an iPad (all the books are in apps only available on IOS) and both of these iPads are overkill as almost everyone here has one of the regular iPads like the 5th and 6th gen. But having the air 4 myself I can confirm it works absolutely fantastic.
Honestly in my opinion, I LOVE the Air 3. My finger's more comfortable with the touch ID on the home button. I also love the big screen and the headphone jack
Thanks for the great video. I have the air 3 and was wondering about upgrading to the 4. Now I know that when I get more serious in drawing I will want to get the pro. I do notice some latency now in procreate sometimes when I make a line. I've had the air 3 for more than a year and have not used the camera, I use my phone for photos. The speakers bother me a bit on one side but for my use, they are actually good enough. I use my phone for music with Bluetooth earphones anyway.
Hello, there are so many iPad models it’s confusing. Why would I purchase one over the other? No one really talks about what lifestyle would be better served by each type of iPad. Can you do a video breakdown of air, pro, mini, even the budget friendly one they recently took out for around $350. No one has really done this the way you all break stuff down for your viewers, I’ve been looking. Thank you ahead of time if you decide to do so.
as someone who isnt a regular viewer, i thought you were promoting the air 4 at first but then you sounded like you were promoting the air 3. thats when i realise that you weren’t promoting anything but you’re just enthusiastic. nice unbiased review👍
I just got an iPad Air 4, and it fits my needs perfectly! It’s amazing. I’m a photographer, so I use it to edit photos in lightroom. I’m also a professional copywriter. I do a lot of content consumption and web browsing in safari. And I take part time classes as a student. I needed to read, write, edit photos, use email, do an occasional zoom meeting, and watch streamed content. Play games. The iPad Air 4 crushes all this. It’s insanely fast, much faster than my old MacBook Air laptop and even faster than my desktop iMac. I can’t believe how good it is, and with the magic keyboard it’s basically become my laptop. It’s a beautiful device. I’m so happy with the air 4!
After using the ipad air 4 for a few days I realized it was a good decision to upgrade from the air 3. It will take time for me to get used to it the keyboard is way different. I also find myself reaching for the home button to unlock it. Not used to the sleep wake button being the touch id button. I do agree with maxtech on the speakers. The air 3 had better speakers imo. My old air 3 had touchscreen issues. It would be unresponsive most of the times and most of those times after I took it off the charger after a complete charge. Sometimes while i was charging it. I had to do constant hard resets to get the touchscreen to respond on the air 3. In fact i had to have the air 3 replaced because it ended up with a dead pixel on the screen after only having it for 6 months. Took it to the genius bar they replaced it only for the replacement ending up with unresponsive touchscreen as well.
I love your videos. I discovered your videos from another youtuber you are now one of my favourites youtubers Max. Good job ! I am waiting for the "what iPad should you really buy in 2020" !
Got my Air 3 back in February. The only reason I would update to the Air 4 is because of the design, which would match my 12. Otherwise, my 3 is perfectly adequate for how I use it. It would probably be better to upgrade to the 11” Pro if you have the 3 instead of the 4. Anyway, thanks for the review.
That’s what I did: upgrade from the 3 to the 11 inch Pro. I wanted more than 64gb and at $749 for 256gb i figured that i would opt for 128gb and a better screen over 256gb.
I bought the iPad Air 3 last year to use for notetaking with Goodnotes 5 (all the other apps in Chrome OS, Android, and Windows didn't compare sadly) mainly for school. I also have been using it alongside my Surface Pro 7 (w/pen to mainly sign stuff) and using it to watch a video or read an article as I write my discussion posts or writing a paper. It's a nice complementary device for me, and this is coming from a Google fan who swore up and down about my Google Pixelbook until my productivity forced me to start using Windows and the iPad. I am liking this iPad for it being my first iPad ever.
I’m watching this from my iPad Air 3 and I think that it’s better then the new one. There’s a little changes but those aren’t significant changes, I mean I brought mine in a lot of money I don’t think that I’ll buy this new one for this very little changes but thanks for the review it’s really helped me to compare between them. And think whatever you think the speakers on the air 3 are better.
Watching in my ipad air 3. It works so fine. No need to upgrade if you’re using Air 3. I cant get rid of the headphone jack since im a streamer.3.5 ports are so useful
@@kelmerbueno5445 i bought Anker hubs for my macbook m1 and yeahhh. Its so useful. But my Ipad air is still lighting? So i think il just leave it as is🤪
I was thinking of 8 or air 3 but ended up buying the air 3... I was concerned about the storage but turns out that I didn’t even use half the storage on my iPad air 3 64
In my opinion, if you already own the air 3 then DONT upgrade yet. There is no point in doing that. But, if you wanna choose between the two, I suggest air 4 cause it is very Morden for a low price. 🙂🙂 I know it is still expensive but I think it is worth it cause it has the new design and the software in it is also excellent.
I went from Original iPad Air 1st Gen to the iPad Air 4. Big jump since the old one is worn out, and my desktop and laptop are also worn out. Getting iPad Air 4 in the mail.
I upgraded from the first iPad Air which only had 16gb storage to iPad Air 4. It just arrived in the post yesterday. I’m waiting for my folio case which arrives tomorrow before I set it up.
Nice and a very useful review! What about battery life, does Air 4 run longer? And what is pen response time, is Air 4 with pencil v2 better than Air 3 with pencil v1? Thanks again!
Thanks for this comparison! Been waiting for this since iPad Air 4 came out. I bought a refurbished iPad Air 3 last spring from Apple, the old Apple pencil and the Logitech Combo Touch with trackpad! Very happy with Air 3 setup I have and I paid less for all three items I have than a 256GB Air 4 cost.
What’s really annoying people whinnying and trashing IPad Air 4 new improvements/upgrades. It surpasses the old design. I love it and great fun for all of its updated leap from the old iPad. Not even sweating the 64 go to 256 go which is over kill for me.
I bought the 2020 iPad Air and have the 2019. And I believe the 2020 is absolutely worth the upgrade. It has more speakers bigger & better screen and video card. The iPad works faster too not that the 2019 is slow. And the 2020 has more Ram. My opinion the 2020 is a better iPad but both are awesome.
I don’t think the battery life issues on the iPhone 12 is because of the powerful GPU though. The GPU of the A14 inside this new iPad Air is definitely clocked a little bit higher than that of the A14 inside the iPhone 12. The 12’s GB5 Metal score is ~9400 while this iPad Air scores ~12500. That is a HUGE discrepancy and can’t be explained simply by the larger thermal envelope of the iPad Air. The iPad Air has a larger battery to compensate for a higher clocked A14 GPU (yeah the display is much larger too but the capacity increase in the battery comfortably makes up for the big display . From what I’ve observed the battery life problems simply just occur when you use 5G on the 12. I don’t think you’re gonna see much difference in battery life with this Air vs. the previous Air.
If we are comparing iPads the Air 3 is like an ODST, but the Air 4 is Straight up a Spartan, it upgrades everything!! *The CPU, GPU, RAM, Storage, Speakers, Screen, camera, charging Port, Design, Touch ID*
hey max tech love your quality tech videos! I also have a tech channel, could you tell me any way to make it better, and from where do you get your review units?
I feel like the iPad air 4 is trying to be a worse iPad Pro, while the 3 is just inheriting what was essentially an iPad Pro (2gen, 10.5) just without ProMotion and a gig less of ram. Overall, the Air has turned into the portal, or half step (half price reduction) from Pro into what eventually we'll see in the "student" 329 iPad
I wish someone would talk about the different apple pencils and which iPad Air is worth getting taking the pencils into consideration, for students. 🙏🏻😅
iPad Air 4 I think is better for students! And the iPad Air 4 has better speakers so it will be easier to hear. I been using iPad Air 4 as an student and I been loving it.
Do not buy any phone or tablet UNDER 128gb unless you want to be forced into buying a new device in 2-3 years. In 2021 if you do any modern things on your phone 64gb is insultingly low. I’m stuck with it on my iPhone but in my iPad and other iPhone they both have 128 and it’s so nice being able to download or film whatever and not have to worry.
Outside of the new design, it doesn’t quite seem different enough to make this upgrade necessary. The Air 3 is an EXCELLENT tablet and does absolutely everything I need it to do lightning fast, so No reason to switch just yet. And besides..... No headphone jack? Nope! Sticking with my 3!!
@@shirleyt4120 I think so - it just came out not too long ago with the A12 Bionic chip and the most recent $329 Ipad also has that same chip. I have a 9.7 IPad Pro from 2016 that is still going strong and is still supported with the latest updates. I think it will be supported for the next couple of years at the very least! The Air 3 is a great Ipad...the best I’ve used for sure!
Thank you John Rigs. I bought the air 3 256 but it remains in the box untouched as I’m still on the fence. Waiting for 8th Gen ipad 128gb. The air is $300 more Canadian so not sure if it the extra $ is worth the extra data. I doubt I’ll notice all the tech upgrades. I’m a basic user but want this for my very long term ipad lol like 10 years lol
@@shirleyt4120 Well I will tell you that my wife has that 8th generation IPad and while it is just a bit smaller and lacks certain cool things that the Air has - it’s absolutely just as fast and powerful as my Air 3!
My first iPad, a 2010 model, had the flat edges and I liked that look & preferred its feel. It’s strange to be returning to a design that Apple 🍏’discarded but is now vigorously reviving as something ‘new’, also in the iPhone 12 range... Apple 🍎 could next trial a hexagonally profiled edge-perhaps the best of both worlds?
Got the 4 upgraded from the iPad Pro 9.7! More like a next gen low end pro with the new cpu and higher single core performance and comparable multi core performance. Curious about the upcoming pros with A14x bionic 8 cores coming soon!
Despite the bezels the air 3 is still a looker...sleek and hella thin. Also the A12 is still a performer. The only deciding factor for me i think would be screen size. I could actually skip both and get an ipad 7 but i like the laminated display on the air 3
Great review I’m on iPad 6 I use procreate what would be good Pro or Air 3? I did just buy old pencil still have return policy if I upgrade iPad.I love magnetic one.

Took it to the genius bar they replaced it only for the replacement ending up with unresponsive touchscreen as well.
finally someone made this comparison, thanks!!
I upgraded to the Air 4 from an Air 2, I'm so happy I did it's an awesome device
Me toooo
Waiting for mine to get here
I got an iPad Air 3 on sale today .... I had a 3 sold it before... I loved it ..and love it too
Where’d you get it on sale?
I also bought it during the great india sale of amazon and got my air 3 on 21 oct. Loving it 😍💯🔥
I love your videos. I discovered your videos from another youtuber you are now one of my favourites youtubers Max. Good job ! I am waiting for the "what iPad should you really buy in 2020" !
Should be going up on Friday, Lord-willing :)
I wanted more than 64gb and at $749 for 256gb i figured that i would opt for 128gb and a better screen over 256gb.
don't, I think the ipad air 3 is very aesthetic and i'm trying to look for it lol
This is my favorite channel. I didn’t expect it, but this channel somehow has both quality and quantity. 10/10 would watch again. Much love
Thank you so much for the support!
7:28 The IPad Air Dancing to the beat 😂
Finally, What _we_ wanted
I just get the ipad air 3 from xmas and i was rlly happy
I’m watching this from my iPad Air 3 and I think that it’s better then the new one. There’s a little changes but those aren’t significant changes, I mean I brought mine in a lot of money I don’t think that I’ll buy this new one for this very little changes but thanks for the review it’s really helped me to compare between them. And think whatever you think the speakers on the air 3 are better.
Watching in my ipad air 3. It works so fine. No need to upgrade if you’re using Air 3. I cant get rid of the headphone jack since im a streamer.3.5 ports are so useful
USB c hubs exists . The 4 is way better .
@@kelmerbueno5445 no need for hubs.. if that jack is what you all need. Soon, maybe upgrading. Lol
Trust me .. you’ll love a hub lol .
@@kelmerbueno5445 i bought Anker hubs for my macbook m1 and yeahhh. Its so useful. But my Ipad air is still lighting? So i think il just leave it as is🤪
I guess I don’t need the upgrade. The speaker thing on 3 has always bothered me. But at least I have a headphone jack
My iPad Air 3 watching this: don’t you dare get my evil twin
I was thinking of 8 or air 3 but ended up buying the air 3... I was concerned about the storage but turns out that I didn’t even use half the storage on my iPad air 3 64
Same! 😂😁
Watching this on my air 3, waiting for 120hz air 5 a16 bionic
Samee
I bought the air 4 with cellular and I absolutely love it
you did raise your voice on the ipad air 4 when testing the mic lmao
In my opinion, if you already own the air 3 then DONT upgrade yet. There is no point in doing that. But, if you wanna choose between the two, I suggest air 4 cause it is very Morden for a low price. 🙂🙂 I know it is still expensive but I think it is worth it cause it has the new design and the software in it is also excellent.
I sincerely prefer the air 3 its cheaper, it has good gaming performance and it has earphone jack so in my opinion the air 3 is better
Looking to see if the iPad Air 4 is less reflective on my non laminated iPad 6th gen 😂😂😂
Oof at least you own one I have it but the school owns it
🤣 me too
Me too...
Same
Just got the air 3 best tablet I’ve ever had
The 4 is still wayyyyy better .
I have iPad Pro 12.9 inch (4th generation) along with Apple Pencil and Magic keyboard.
It’s fun watching comparison between iPads.
Still using my ipad air 3 and ipad pro 10.5 hands down best ipad!
Hello, Max Please do Performance & gaming between the two.
Anyway, still a great video. Keep it up!
Still sticking to my 10.5” iPad Pro😆
same
omg same
That's better than the air 4 except usb c and a14.
@@suvtropics and the design
@@suvtropics yup, and the way how an Apple Pencil is charged
If we are comparing iPads the Air 3 is like an ODST, but the Air 4 is Straight up a Spartan, it upgrades everything!! *The CPU, GPU, RAM, Storage, Speakers, Screen, camera, charging Port, Design, Touch ID*
I have a Sim card with 256 Gb
Still with my Air 3 😌❤️
How does it do in cod
@@LC-jq7vn very well 👍
hey max tech love your quality tech videos! I also have a tech channel, could you tell me any way to make it better, and from where do you get your review units?
We buy them
The manufacturers send them to him
Good luck with your Channel bro
@@MaxTechOfficial hi max tech

Ok
Great advice. Thinking of getting the iPad Air 4.
I think I will stay with my air 3:) thanks for the sharing.
Just the screen is a major upgrade . You’ll love the 4
Great video im getting one for my daughter!
If its still working leave it until it stops. Make it last 4-5 years
I wish someone would talk about the different apple pencils and which iPad Air is worth getting taking the pencils into consideration, for students. 🙏🏻😅
iPad Air 4 I think is better for students! And the iPad Air 4 has better speakers so it will be easier to hear. I been using iPad Air 4 as an student and I been loving it.
I got the air 3 back in June 2020 and then I watched the November apple event and then I was like BRUH
Thanks for an excellent video. Very informative.
This guys work rate is from another planet
Outside of the new design, it doesn’t quite seem different enough to make this upgrade necessary.
The Air 3 is an EXCELLENT tablet and does absolutely everything I need it to do lightning fast, so
No reason to switch just yet.
And besides.....
No headphone jack?
Nope!
Sticking with my 3!!
Hello, can anyone tell me if today Feb 15, 2021 the air 3 256 GB will be good for several years. Especially ability to keep up with IOS updates?
@@shirleyt4120
I think so - it just came out not too long ago with the A12 Bionic chip and the most recent $329 Ipad also has that same chip.
The air is $300 more Canadian so not sure if
it the extra $ is worth the extra data. I doubt I’ll notice all the tech upgrades. I’m a basic user but want this for my very long term ipad lol like 10 years lol
@@shirleyt4120
Well I will tell you that my wife has that 8th generation IPad and while it is just a bit smaller and lacks certain cool things that the Air has - it’s absolutely just as fast and powerful as my Air 3!
Yet another awesome video!
Love your vids!
I guess if you already have the iPad Air 3 there's no need to upgrade, but if your like me I don't own an iPad I would get the air 4 I steady
Nice dude I got the iPad Pro 2020 is it good?
Yes it's very good people just think that the Air 4 is over the Pro because of the processor and the price
You got the best iPad Apple sells. Don’t believe anything about how the iPad Air 4 is better. It’s 100% not.
@@babyyoda9943 It is faster probably but give me that pro motion display!
@@SouthBayLA1310 nah, don’t let the name fool you. A14 vs made specifically for the iPhone 12’s and the x and z chips were made specifically for the iPad Pro’s.
I’m watching on an air 2 , waiting for the air 4 to get delivered
I'm getting the ipad air 3, what color should i get though? White or black?? 😅
Black! White gets all dirty and stuff, unless you have one of those black covers. So why not get a black one instead? :)
@@zayedsid8728 Oh yes, My mom also said to get the black, and I also thinks it's more cool than the white one 😂
