strange420daze the whole thing was written by somebody else for sure. there is no way any native English speaker uses "crime task" or "my quietest boots".
LEMONandLIME : unfortunately I was too horrified by his circumstances to even think of laughing. It's inhumane to imagine anyone going through this type of hell.
@@2oqh Otto’s crime task was to steal a propaganda poster in his quietest boots for sneaking to break the will of the North Korean people for $10,000. Sounds legit to me!
They should've known to say "sneakers" instead of "boots", as those are, as their name implies, the best for sneaking. I have always found Newbalance best for poster ripping
Update: RIP Otto Warmbier. Died after being released in a coma from North Korea "The US secretary of state said the 22-year-old was on his way home to the US. The Warmbier family told US media they had found out only last week that their son has been in a coma since shortly after his trial in March 2016."
Political Junkie an update would be great, including the "coincidence" that Dennis Rodman arrived in North Korea the same day rhe American was released.
I feel so bad for the people forced to live over there, under that regime, and blinded to the truths of the outside world. I see so many videos of the people lucky enough to escape that country, and they are good and humble people that deserve a better life. They're so surprised that Americans are warm and kind to them. I wish I could give them all a hug.
@@ikawba00 Because they are taught since birth that the entire world, and especially Americans, are out to slaughter them all. Americans are considered devils to them, and they are taught to fear, and hate the entire world. You are seriously asking that question after seeing how they brainwash all their citizens into thinking everyone wants them all dead, and with all the propaganda everywhere?
It was most likely suspected that he actually was a US foreign agent acting under the guise of a “tourist” and when the regime sought political leverage over the west, they thought of him as a pawn, easily sentencing him for false crimes under manufactured evidence
"Never allow yourself to be allured by United States..." Otto has been broken. His words sound nothing like normal speach here and speaking against his country brought him to tears.
@@veszekium5693 So this event is why you will never travel outside your country? That is a stupid, and ignorant statement to say the least. Even if you are American, there are plenty of other countries you can travel to, and be very welcome. Some countries even treat you better than their own citizens due to you being a tourist. All you need to do is check the laws, and guidelines for other countries, and make sure there aren't any serious political issues at hand, and you are good. It blows my mind how you would fear going to another country just because of something like this. Maybe N. Korea, yeah that would make sense, but most other countries?
You mean "too far"? Why, because they killed some white, privileged American kid? The hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Koreans killed previously weren't enough? Sadly, you're probably right...
Chris H They've always been enough, many people think what North Korea does is horrendous. We can't intervene because of the possible catastrophic consequences. Stop being ignorant and making this a "white privilege" issue when it's further from the truth. This is a humane issue.
Especially if you are brainwashed from Day 1 to hate the imperialist US empire. It's pretty amazing we have a United Nations, yet there is a state that practically enslaves its people. Welcome to the fucking 21st century.
I’m not siding with America or anything, but have you seen the brainwashing North Korea was done? Ask every single escapee and they’ll tell you that they absolutely hated Americans before even seeing a single one. And afterwards they realize that all they were taught was a lie
if you think about it, North Korea's judicial system is also akin to the Ministry of Justice from 1984 as well. Orwell and Huxley were once criticized for saying that this dystopic world could one day exist, critics of the er said it was impossible, looking at North Korea, what have they to say now?
J0hn D0e Perhaps you missed the point of the video. The entire judicial system is rigged. Lambeir's arrest was false, intended as a political provocation. He was innocent.
Cat.exe has stopped working 5 scariest places on earth that you should never visit. 1: North Korea 2: North Korea 3:North Korea 4:North Korea 5:north Korea
+TheMightyHarihar What a horrible thing to say. He took a propaganda poster and was killed. That is something that anywhere but North Korea can't fathom.
It is sad he is dead over a petty crime, but to say he is not to blame is a joke. If I was in north korea I would be crossing every t and dotting every i, I wouldn't give them a single excuse to put me on trial.
TheMightyHarihar prove it. You can't see if that's even him doing it on the video. And if you think the confession means anything then you would be a fool.
@@Plvggaz Ah yes. The horrible crime that it is to take a poster of the wall and gently putting it on the floor! ONLY such SEVERE criminals as Otto would be guilty of that CRIME. A crime that totaly deserved a harsh prison sentence and to be worked to death in a work camp. North Korea is fucking nuts.
Because North Korea is a secretive place and with all the news about how North Korea is a bad place it makes some curious people want to go there and sometimes record footage of North Korea and tell others why it's such a dangerous place.
I truly cannot believe how many people smashed that dislike button on this video! You gave a lot of enlightening information that should not go unnoticed. Given that I am watching this video many years after publishing I can only imagine how many more insidious acts have taken place. God bless those poor souls trapped in that hell hole!!!!!!!!
Actually, it wasn't him, they just accused him, the camera was so blurry, it could of been anyone. The thing is, when he was in court, he was crying and begging for forgiveness, and as his friends watched his court, they claimed that nothing he said was true, except his tears.
How do you learn a language without material and cultural context from that country? When learning spanish you would probably use Spanish media and literature to get how the people actually speak. Korean translators are probably not given such materials.
Reminds me of the oversized broadcasting tower the GDR built in Berlin - just to find out that communism apparently did spawn neither the technology for the elevators nor for the AC of such a building, which then had to be imported from the West.
They used the term 'pulmonary arrest' which is deliberately broad but knowing common torture techniques any rational person would assume he was asphyxiated past the point of consciousness and then brought back to life after sustaining massive brain damage. It was failed torture, they left him without air for so long that it didn't kill him instantly but damaged him beyond repair.
why feel bad for a dumbass who went to North Korea with goal to steal that particular poster. TOurist tour before him, recorded entire floor with cameras and posted online. Somebody offered Otto a car in value of 10,000$ if he brings that poster. He took it, which is against the law in North Korea, and he got arrested. Btw, US has the biggest number of incarcerated people per capita in the world, more than Russia, China and North Korea combined, so i would say bigger dictatorship is US.
In Germany, on American and British army bases stands "allied occupational forces"... same in Japan and South Korea... with US having more incarcerated people per capita than Russia+China+North Korea, we cant be speaking about freedom there, can we?
I must admit I was shaking my head over this. They sell these posters in the souvenir shops westerners can access so why should he "steal a poster" it just not make sense.
@@geofreshfinefoods8645 Exactly, NK used him to get their own people mad at america, its all propaganda. Plus making him unable to speak was very convenient for them as he can't possibly say the truth
I'm pretty sure it wasn't him. But the N Koreans needed a US prisoner. If it wasn't him it'd have been another US tourist from the same group, or another group just like them. He wasn't stupid, just ridiculously unlucky to get chosen as the "crime-task person" they wanted.
The transcript was written by the north koreans,he could of been saying it in plain english! This video was crappy propoganda against a country under the cosh of the u.s. not other way round !!!
@tatispoon First, Otto's coma was caused by botulism and a sleeping pill. Second, I don't believe the North Koreans purposefully made him sick. I think the living conditions in NK made Otto sick, the North Koreans freaked out not knowing what was wrong with him, and tried to throw all their ancient medical techniques at him hoping to treat him. When the North Koreans suspected that Otto was going to die, then they hastily arranged his return. So if anything, NK was indirectly responsible for Otto's death. Whether or not Otto committed the crime he is accused of is anyone's guess unless NK is willing to share more data on the vague video footage.
Praie they probably tortured him and then when he said the speech they let him go back before almost killing him so he would die but he would die in America
One big mistake during his speech... North Korea hates being called"North" Korea, although I don't think it is significant, but if he called them DPRK instead, that may increase his chance to survive for 1%...
More than half of this excerpt is devoted to 1) An incomplete hotel construction, 2) Otto Warmbier's amazing North Korean adventures and the North Korean legal system. Only after 11 minutes is there reference to the content alluded to in the title - the North Korean prison system.
Being Korean American, I often think about how my family just happened to be on the other side of the 38th parallel and I lucked out. I could of easily been born into a life in North Korea. I hope someday reunification can be a real possibility. Speaking to my foreign South Korean friends about this topic, they often say that the countries are so different now that they would struggle to coexist. Just thought I would share some of my thoughts.
We all know it isnt the North Korean people to blame. It is that tyrant Kim Jong Un. People are terrified of him and his regime. I feel so sorry for North Koreans forced to live like that = in poverty and starving.
@@janetblanc7658 When West Ger absorbed East, it was 60 million taking in 15 million. Problem with the Koreas is the ratio is 2:1, not 4:1. Germany took decades to get anywhere close to proper integration and still struggles. The other thing is that the Germanies were never at war and life in East Germany was nowhere near as brainwashed, poor and deindustrialized as is North Korea. I don't see how the South benches this problem which is multiples bigger than what West Germany had to do. Also China will not allow a US puppet state to expand right up to the Chinese border, stationing weapons at will. No chance.
This is so odd. It seems that the audio is bad during that part for some people on some devices. I experienced it myself when I tried to watch on an iphone. I honestly have no idea what could make that happen, but it seems to be on RUclips's end. Thanks for telling me, and I'll update if I figure the problem out. -Will
+Tudd this must be the right answer. I just wish I had noticed before publishing. The sound came through fine on my PC and I didn't think twice about it. North Korean sound design :/
What I found really interesting about the footage of ‘Otto Warmbier’ stealing the poster is how careful and respectfully the person in the video puts down the poster onto the ground. If Otto was brave enough to try and steal the poster without fully knowing the gravity of his action he’d not going to be so cautious putting the poster on the floor as most people would chuck it to the ground, or rip it from the wall or put it under their armpit.. why put it down on the floor against the lower wall instead of letting it fall to the ground?
Perhaps he was actually trying to be careful. He just didn’t realize he was being watched, the same way children are caught stealing candy. No one deserves to be put into a fucking coma for just stealing a poster, and I’m sorry for what happened to him. But what he did was stupid. If you visit a country that’s known for being extremely strict you better fucking behave. Fuck the North Korean regime for brutally taking his life and the life of many others, but he should’ve known better than to risk life and limb over some silly cult personality poster you can easily buy on the internet.
@@smileyjackflanagan6053 The guy was young and naive...poor guy. Yes, he never denied that that was him stealing the poster...he didn't know he was being videotaped, obviously. Yes, he obviously was told to memorize the confession he was given and thought, just maybe, they would let him go or the U.S. would negotiate his release. He might have even been told that by his captors and given a glimmer of hope. He shouldn't have had to have gone thru the horrible suffering and brutal death he experienced over a poster, for God's sake. I wonder why he wasn't treated like the others that got out early and were saved by the U.S. because they were U.S. citizens like himself? As I remember, all we heard at the time was the U.S. was "negotiating" with NK and the parents were suppose to be quiet. Then what seemed "suddenly", he was sent home in the horrible state they put him in and died...over a poster. What happened that we couldn't get him out like the rest of the U.S. citizens who were captured in NK?
I think he was told he could have it, then once he got it down, they told him to put it on the floor. It was a set up from the beginning. This happened the day after the US sanctions were put in place. Those crazy sadistic f*cks had this all planned out, it was in retaliation. He was in a tour group, they are told about the cameras and tape recorders in their rooms. He would have never done something so stupid, of his own free will. The pre-scripted forced confession is proof enough, they had it all planned out.
@Betty Smith Sadly everything is done only when it’s politically advantageous. Us regular folk, we don’t matter too much in those negotiations. Think about it. If Otto was the son of a strong political figure in the west things would’ve turned out differently. As for what happened to him, it’s hard to say. There was no sign of physical torture nor botulism as NK officials claimed. My guess is he contracted some kind of pathogen. Naegleria Fowleri rings a bell because of the state he came in and how fast he died. Wouldn’t surprise me, really. In those work camps I’m sure there is no shortage of viruses, bacteria, amoebas and the like around.
No, we know how he died. He was released back to the US in a coma like state. "He was able to breathe on his own and blink his eyes, but otherwise showed no signs of awareness of his environment, such as understanding language, nor did he initiate any purposeful movements." The cause of this coma "According to his medical team, brain scans revealed Warmbier had suffered extensive loss of brain tissue throughout his brain, consistent with a cardiopulmonary event that caused the brain to be deprived of oxygen". The physicians found no evidence of physical abuse or torture; scans of Warmbier's neck and head were normal outside of the brain injury. The North Koreans handed over brain scans conducted on Warmbier, concluding he was within this state for about a year. Around April of 2016 to June of 2017. He got in this Coma state one month after his trial. Evidence concludes that brain damage due to lack of oxygen was the cause of his Coma. As for his death "After his parents requested his feeding tube be removed, Warmbier died in the hospital at 2:20 p.m. on June 19, 2017, at the age of 22". " Doctors speculated that the cause of death could have been a blood clot, pneumonia, sepsis or kidney failure. Sleeping pills could have caused Warmbier to stop breathing if he had botulism and was paralyzed from it"
@@conversationtosaurusrex If you are going to quote the part about no signs of torture on his neck and head, you should probably mention his parents saying he had obvious signs of torture such as "rearranged" teeth and disfigured hands and feet. He may have not been killed from torture, but that doesn't mean they didn't torture him.
a friend of mine did a 7 day tour and enjoyed it so much, he went back a year later and did a 28 day tour. I used to work for a travel company and we had a tour to NK, which went down very well with our customers (UK).

@@amydraughon925 , your point is fair, but as an example the Airang Games has away has excellet feedback frrom tourists and it is impossible to micro-manage a stadium with 100 000 people. To be fair, I would doubt many people visit NK without doing thier homework first.
As a Cincinnatian who watched the plane land, I can tell you Otto Warmbier arrived home in a coma beaten and near death. He in fact died a few days after arriving home. It was gut wrenching seeing him being carried off the plane. He never regained consciousness and details about his condition are out there. If anything came from it, it was that his parents and family got him back and could hold him and love him til the end. Vile government
One defector said they probably dosed him with something that was delayed but would kill him within 10 days or something....like some kind of slow acting poison or whatever...I took it with a grain of salt, but supposedly they did it so he couldn't speak about the abuse he endured and make the administration look bad / fuck up talks w trump

When my little brother was stationed in the ROK for the Winter Olympics, I have been following the DPRK. There are. Couple outstanding sites like 38north and source sites are my favorite sources. This was easily one of the best RUclips videos I have seen on the Disneyland of Asia. I have some binge watching ahead of me.
AlkAnomaly Thats very unfortunate news. At the time of my original comment he was officially alive. The N. Korean regime probably just didn't want to send back a body.
Actually it's kind of funny just because of how ridiculous it is. I mean yes the guy died and that is tragic. Sure he wasn't the brightest fellow, traveling to such a hostile country in the first place and all, but he probably didn't deserve to be traumatized to death. And as a tourist in the modern world you shouldn't have to worry about the governments of other countries themselves falsely imprisoning you. Maybe a cartel or human traffickers, that's to be expected. This is just despicable for any political regime to do. It's an outrage that totalitarian societies like this are even allowed to still exist. I can't help but laugh at how blatantly scripted this apology/media statement is, at the same time it's horrifying because it appears his frustration and distress is genuine. Except it isn't due to some guilt of being a pawn for the "United States Administration", but it's out of fear of his captors and frustration toward their relentlessness. As a pampered westerner he would've been completely unprepared for such treatment by officials, certainly not intense interrogation and physical coercion. He's just saying whatever they want to hear to avoid being harmed, apparently a futile attempt. And he really tried to sell his dedication too. That's what I get most from his speech. Him acting like he's desperate to convince others to resist the US administration or whatever, could just as easily be perceived as genuine desperation, but rather to convince the people who are holding him hostage that he's cooperating to the fullest. I can only imagine what they threatened him with to make him so submissive. And realizing that while listening to him speak, and knowing what became of him afterwards... is just horrifying.
Bravery is reciting word for word a statement that isnt true to hopefully save your ass from making a poor decision to go somewhere dangerous? Please do everyone a favor and learn what words mean. He was in actuality the opposite which is a coward.
Peter Marson RIP Otto. He never deserved that sentence with a young man like him for a poster! & He's an intelligent guy to do such thing. Can't fathom why he did get that poster in exchange of car when he's a rich kid and jet setter. Doesn't make sense at all. Surely his words was written by someone not himself. Over a year in comma and NK never told to his family about his health conditions at all and when exactly did the family or the US knew about his being in a comma as I've watched from tv that he was deplaned carried by guys without stretcher nor oxygen or hospital stuff like that if he's in a comma which made his conditions worse since he flew for about 10 hours without his medical things connected to his body!
This is not funny at all. Nobody deserves what Otto has been through. Even citizens are brainwashed, indoctrinated, manipulated, and treated like slaves. Wish everyone responsible for Otto's torture and murder, to get the worse death imaginable. Otto is not among us, his suffering has ended, but imagine the suffering his Mom, his dad, his near and loved ones are going through. His parents are probably still having sleepless nights😢, I've seen their interviews and you can literally see the pain, the emotional pain, and mental trauma just by looking in their eyes.😭 this is horrible. How can these people be so headless? They deserve the worst death. If only Jigsaw could kidnap that Fat lunatic.

We now know, as of the day I’m writing this, that Otto is deceased. My heart goes out to him and his family members….not only for his treatment and death but for the unknown. What he was never able to tell them even though he was returned to the US. The NK’s returned him in this condition on purpose and I think it is pretty obvious. They’re sadistic and they wouldn’t be happy just announcing the fact Otto passed. They did something to him and allowed him to die in front of his parents. Not as a gesture of sympathy or anything that could be remotely tied to compassion. They did it to hurt not only Otto , but to hurt his loved ones even more so than just receiving the news and being returned a corpse. No, they let his family and friends watch and look after him as doctors told them that there was not much more they could do and they wanted to inflict the suffering of Otto into everyone else who loved him through the fact that he was there, he was alive but nothing could be done and then they could watch him die. This is my interpretation of the NK’s interpretations. It doesn’t make it factual, but I can bet I’m not far off. The press conference….when Otto speaks of using his most stealthy and sneaky shoes to be silent to commit the absolute barbarism of removing a piece of paper from a wall….. it was the most artificial sounding statement I ever heard. NOBODY IN THE US talks like that !!!!!!! PERIOD!! My stealthiest sneakers or how ever they had him word it…… it’s just not realistic… it’s not American style speech patterns. I’m so sorry for Ottos family. God bless Otto and your loved ones.
Jack Jameson no. He became basically a vegetable, and died in a coma. ON FATHERS DAY. Imaging how rough that was for his parents, especially his father
I never heard of this case before this video. After watching this, i immediately checked if that poor guy is free now and found that he died long ago. 🙁 this is so dissapointing and heart aching.
Yeah and a poster he likely didnt even steal. It’s terrifying to think that while we live normal lives, in North Korea, stuff like this happens everyday.
I want to show great appreciation to USA veterans who fought during Korean war for freedom against communist and the troops who are protecting Korea peninsula now.Thank you so much! from South Korea!!
Nah mate. America practically genocided 3 million North Koreans while fighting for the supremacy of a military dictatorship. Not to mention that South Korea suffered military coup after coup until the nineties. In fact the recently arrested former president of the ROK Park Geun-Huye is the daughter of one of the former dictators.
Mi Kwon it's sad that there aren't many left. Those who remain are quite old. And further it must be scary with a neighbor who wants nothing but to take you over....
Mottos parents were told that otto would be sent home to the USA. When his parents arrived at the airport to pick him up otto was in a coma. he died 5 days later...his parents later found out that otto had been in the coma for close to a year and had also suffered severe brain damage...horrific story.
Even if it was a suicide.. we need to think why he chose to suicide.. he was a young boy in his third year of university, with bright future.. Being sentenced to 15 years of hard labor in North Korea must have been extremely shocking and terrifying experience.. I don't think a lot of people will be mentally stable after going through such experience.. Honestly, even if it was a suicide, that doesn't mean North Korea is innocent..
weak minded? ppl in labor camp are treated horribly and get starved and tortured. Even if there were no torture involved to him, the situation he was in was more than enough to commit a suicide.. and who knows if he got threatened and tortured but it healed over time or something.. and this is just assuming that he committed a suicide. North Korea is a fucked up country where they kill people for watching foreign movies. Any scenario is possible
Honestly I don't know why anyone would want to go to that hellhole. All it takes is some little infraction and you got a life sentence or death or worse. Poor Otto, set-up and tortured and killed. Otto's family, what a nightmare they had to go through, every day........God Bless.
Otto Frederick Warmbier (December 12, 1994 - June 19, 2017) was an American college student who was imprisoned in North Korea in 2016 on a charge of subversion. In June 2017, he was released by North Korea in a vegetative state and died soon afterward. Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S. -Wikipedia
Sadly, Otto Warmbier passed away earlier today as a result of medical complications that began during his incarceration in North Korea. He was in a coma for the several days leading up to his death. A young life taken too soon.
saya true, he could have been made to take down that poster. he was weak, as far as being manipulated by his rehearsed acting from the corrupt regime. I feel bad for him.
He wasn't in a coma for several days leading up to his death. He was "in a coma" for over a year. It's really horrifying what happened to him. And hell, we don't even know exactly what happened. What we do know is scary enough.
The legal system in DPR Korea is so fair that for his "crime-task" Warmbier was only beaten to death once! It's hilarious that they couldn't manage to get one person who could actually speak English to write the statement that Warmbier gave. My brother once had a chance to visit North Korea and I advised him against it. Too much danger and basically nothing to see that you can't already see in photos from past visitors.
I have a stupid question for you. I am asking because I really don't know... In your opinion do you think that it's harder in north Korea then China or Russia? N do you think life in general is harder?
Kim Jong-Il was watching Clint Eastwood's "in the line of fire" when he saw the scene where the bodyguards are running beside the motorcade, stood up and shouted at his security and assistants "this is the coolest scene in the movie! This is how you protect me from now on, just like in this scene!". Decades later, we see Kim Jong-Un's motorcade being surrounded by running bodyguards. Kim Jong-Il actually used movies and books such as 1984 as inspiration for every part of the country. It's quite likely his father did as well. Which is surreal to be honest. And what I wrote is true by the way. Kenji Fujimoto was witness to the movie-scene as they were watching it together.

What I found really interesting about the footage of ‘Otto Warmbier’ stealing the poster is how careful and respectfully the person in the video puts down the poster onto the ground. If Otto was brave enough to try and steal the poster without fully knowing the gravity of his action he’d not going to be so cautious putting the poster on the floor as most people would chuck it to the ground, or rip it from the wall or put it under their armpit.. why put it down on the floor against the lower wall instead of letting it fall to the ground?
dude it was a short fat korean fuck with pure black hair and way different hairdo, and moved all slow and salty just like you say.
Funny how Otto Warmbier seems to have been released just a couple days after this video.
Quintin Rodriguez Read the news Otto has died :(
AlkAnomaly Thats very unfortunate news. At the time of my original comment he was officially alive. The N. Korean regime probably just didn't want to send back a body.
Quintin Rodriguez His death is very suspicious. he was killed by the savages.
Horrifying situation....my heart goes out to the Warmbier family and the terrorized citizens of North Korea.
First of all, why he stole poster? If he knows that it's really u can't do such things...
He died a few years back
@The Return lol , in the afterlife
@@dr.rkhatik389 it's a piece of fuckin paper you dumb fuck. Fuck yourself.
He literally meant the opposite of everything he said in his confession
He packed his loudest boots, best for getting people's attention.
I want to laugh with Warmbier while he read his “ confession “ but his bravery has a new angle from my perspective and it hurt to laugh.
Bravery is reciting word for word a statement that isnt true to hopefully save your ass from making a poor decision to go somewhere dangerous? Please do everyone a favor and learn what words mean. He was in actuality the opposite which is a coward.

Rip otto may his soul rest in peace he didn't deserve this
Peter Marson RIP Otto.
Rip
Peter Marson well, he should have been aware that the crazy government would arrest him for even a petty crime like taking a propaganda poster
Peter Marson never happened he's an actor
Nash Stahl then where is Otto now? Is he with Hitler Abraham Lincoln and Attila the Hun in Argentina
I learned very little about what the North Korean prison system is like.
Eric F yeah, it should have been titled "a brief overview of north Korea's big pointy hotel" or "short guide to NK's judicial system".
Just apply everything you know about big pointy unfinished hotels to their prison system and you'll be filled to overflowing with knowledge.

@@theoriginaltroll388 Are you sure otto even took the poster? Look at the footage, its some shady short character who's movements are kinda robotic. Plus NK would 100% love to pin a robbery on an american as part of their propaganda

No. Otto died because he went to North Korea. Why any American would go there is beyond me
Many Americans go to NK unharmed. He dies because Obama didn’t care enough to being him home.
No, Otto died because he thought he has the same rights as in USA.
I want to show great appreciation to USA veterans who fought during Korean war for freedom against communist and the troops who are protecting Korea peninsula now.Thank you so much! from South Korea!!

Sadly, Otto Warmbier passed away earlier today as a result of medical complications that began during his incarceration in North Korea. He was in a coma for the several days leading up to his death. A young life taken too soon.
+Scheherazade you know there is a strong possibility that he was innocent...
saya true, he could have been made to take down that poster. he was weak, as far as being manipulated by his rehearsed acting from the corrupt regime.

He didn't have a medical condition, they beat him into a coma
He wasn't in a coma for several days leading up to his death. He was "in a coma" for over a year. It's really horrifying what happened to him. And hell, we don't even know exactly what happened. What we do know is scary enough.
North Korea: We can afford actual nuclear missiles..
Also North Korea: We can’t afford to build a hotel
The legal system in DPR Korea is so fair that for his "crime-task" Warmbier was only beaten to death once! It's hilarious that they couldn't manage to get one person who could actually speak English to write the statement that Warmbier gave. My brother once had a chance to visit North Korea and I advised him against it. Too much danger and basically nothing to see that you can't already see in photos from past visitors.

The speech sounds more akin to a robot than what someone would actually say
I would hope robots would be more intelligent than that
Very informative.
Just incredible how this country became the living reality of orwell's 1984
Christopher Hitchens joked that Kim Il Sung might have used 1984 as a guide to building his country.
Just started reading that book in my English class, that’s exactly what’s been in my head since opening the book
Incredible how the American democrat party is heading straight towards this ideology.
