We can assume that the call in the beginning wasn't real. The scenes with Eva driving are post-murder of her boyfriend because the green-jeweled bracelet that the Maria (second female character) gave to Mikel (Eva's bf) was already in the vehicle in the beginning of the MV next to her phone before she drives off. We can also see that Eva is the hidden driver in the scene where NewJeans are with her in the car spilling the tea about her boyfriend, however, they are actually not in the car with her as these supposed rumors are what ultimately made her commit the murder. Additionally, Eva running over Maria and Mikel is there as distorted reality maybe as Eva's way of justifying her actions. In my opinion, the underwater scene where Eva sees Maria and Mikel kissing is an expression of these scenarios suffocating her and foreboding of what she does at the end of the MV. In any case, Mikel is already dead with the shirt sticking out the trunk. Lastly, the MV director directly states that "NewJeans who happen to be the ones delivering the supposed cheating rumor in the plot, is also subject to whether we should believe their truths." Adding that the "truths" seen in the music video are either distorted or exaggerated. In conclusion, we can assume that NewJeans serves as either one of two points: 1.) they are an unreliable narrator of the plot as we can really only know Eva, Mikel, (and Maria's) relationship through the lens of NewJeans with implications in the lyrics that "we have to trust them". 2.) an allegory to misinformation that influences someone's actions as we see that the director could be using NewJeans as a personification of distortion of facts and biased statements. According to the director's direction, the story is meant to depict how another one's thoughts can influence one's own actions or reality; and how we often don't validate what is factual anymore. I think both of those points along with the murder plot tie in with the scenes where it's nighttime at the pool party and the camera flashes are pointed towards NewJeans as if they are under the spotlight while the members themselves look uncomfortable being surrounded by faceless people. Almost like the crowd was pointing fingers at them. Also, we see NewJeans "sitting in the car" with Eva at the end and I think that alludes to the fact that they had a great amount of influence with their words towards Eva (like they were an accomplice to the murder) which made her act on murdering her boyfriend.

An interesting fact is that all the songs on the album 'Get Up' have music videos, and all of the newjeans that appear in those music videos are 'angels' or non-human beings. 1. I like that it's implied, at least to me, that Eva can at least understand Korean by the way the girls were switching between English and Korean. you can tell Eva is at least European or maybe a mixed girly. I like to headcanon that at the very least she can understand Korean but most likely speaks enough to keep a convo going or something. even though it was most likely done to give all the girls at least one line and make it easier for all of them. I thought it was a fun detail.
