    my new dream kit right here!!! happy for you my friend. i am torn on getting this one ( WBS32RZS ) 3 piece with the 22x14 kick in either the molten brown burst (looks better in photos, and I wish it was satin, I am a sucker for satin and burst combos) or go more "classic" and grab maybe the ocean blue laquer, or screw both of those and go for the satin sapphire fade to be unique - ahhh I need to practice and save up my funds. I have a PDP Concept Maple in Oxblood right now (13/16/26x14) and it is super super nice as my daily driver, but I am drawn more and more towards these Tama kits. Such an amazing kit for the price. I have the Starclassic bb hyperdrives which are the best drums for me. Tama nailed it with the wb. Didn’t think they could replace the bbs with anything nearly as good. I still prefer the bbs and the low end they give but the wb’s are amazing and sound better in all tuning ranges imo. The bbs sound like heaven around medium- low tuning. Sounds good high too but not as good as the wb’s but the low end of bbs are unmatched. Want to save up for a wb kit too though. Also own the Tama superstar classics and Tama silverstar. Use those two kits as a gigging/touring kits to beat up on and keep the starclassics fresh and only bust those out for big shows or the studio. Tama all day!!

      Dude that's quite some sets you got yourself there! I basically love all of them too. Tama just really got me with the sound, style and looks of their kits. By the way I totally agree with you regarding the bbs. I never owned one but played a bb for three tours and a studio session and I also considered this kit but since there's a lot going on with Bubinga wood currently and I travel a lot I went with this kit and was actually blown away. I'm sure you'll also enjoy your wb those kits are definitely more than worth regarding price/quality!

    Now that you have had the drums for a while, are you still just as jazzed about them as you were when you made this video?
    One thing I noticed when I demo'd the BB's at the store was that the bass drum had stock heads and no muffling, yet the sound of that bass drum was as punchy and round-sounding as the best kits I've ever played, and it just didn't NEED any muffling!
    What is your experience with the BW's in this regard? Thanks!

    • @PatrickPutzker
      @PatrickPutzker  4 года назад +2

      Oh absolutely man! Really love its versatile sound, the crafting quality and definitely the look of the kit.
      Regarding the muffling I have to say that I was actually amazed about how little muffling you really need. It's almost how you describe it, especially if you throw an Evans Emad 2 head on it, you basically don't need any muffling while not loosing any punch. I ended up muffling about 1/3 of the whole drum because I like my bass to sound pretty dead and punchy.
      Hope that helps! Let me know in case you have any further questions 🙂🙏

      I too am stuck on deciding on which finish. Torn between the shamrock oyster, raspberry fade and transparent mocha fade. So hard to decide! Starclassic has been my dream kit since I was 11 in 1996. Got my first Tama kit in 1999, deep forest green rockstars, they were stolen and I got Tama Silverstars, green with a blue chameleon in the light- so having all green kits makes me want to go with the shamrock but damn they all look so good!

    • @PatrickPutzker
      @PatrickPutzker  4 года назад +1

      Haha yeah that's exactly right! But it actually doesn't need that much muffling, I mentioned this already in another comment, if you throw an Evans Emad 2 on there you really don't need any muffling for a controlled yet still punshy open sound. Love this kick drum so much man!
      Thanks for your feedback by the way! Really means a lot to me 🙏🙂

      Well if you're in heavy rock or metal bands, you do need to smash the drums and cymbals (especially live), and don't need to display as much dynamic subtlety in your playing than if you were playing jazz etc. It's clear that you don't follow many young drummers as well, as I've seen many many drummers under the age of 25 who have excellent sense of dynamic range and feel when playing. And finally, as you're the type of person who complains about "young people" I'm assuming you're also of the generation that brought us 80s hair metal bands, who's drummers were all about flipping drumsticks and playing simple heavy beats, and all the power to them for it, but just don't be a hypocrite when complaining about younger generations.

    BASS drum sounds like CRAP. Sorry but why put blankets, pillows, padding in a drum, ESP the largest and most important drum for any pop music. Your BASS drum has NO bottom, NO resonance, NO sound....But, if you like the sound of a box, then you have succeeded.
