    I believed that because of a physical defect (e.g. defect in the tongue) I couldn’t roll the “r” in my native language, the Greek. The Greeks roll the “r”. By following your instructions step by step and by practicing every day I managed to roll the “r” at my sixties! It took me some months. Every detail in your video was useful either technically or psychologically. Congratulations and thank you very much!

    That was excellent! I had to find out on my own, by learning where the rolling occurs/ ...can occur... and that for Arabic, a language, that apparently was once determined to do everything everywhere... Incidentally: The cork you use is, at least where I live, a champagne cork. This having to avoid the cork task reminds me of something I learned in a video about singing: There, the advice was to sing "around the tongue." The new perceptions that provoked gave me an idea what happened in my mouth! From that on, I was able to roll the "R" after about 6 months.

    This is going to be very difficult when the native language is dutch. The dutch R is in the upper temple FAR in the back. I think it is called gutteral. After 40+ years in Canada I still dont have the perfect english R (which is a bit of the twist of the tongue)
    So my accent gives away where I come from... "are you german? or dutch?" they ask. Bingo ! again I gave it away.
    Now I'm going to practice the russian R rrrrrrrrrr on the tip of the tongue hmmmm , need to practice more... !
    Thank you for your clear instruction. First I have to buy a bottle of champagne to get the cork.... Salud!

    I have been living in Germany for 27 years because my Russian mother decided to marry a German man back then.
    I can read, speak and write Russian but I cannot fix my "r". If it was not for the"r", you would not be able to tell that I have been living in Germany for so long.
    Everything else was just quite easy to learn.
    I have been practicing the rolling "r" for some time but it did not always work.
    When you speak "Hochdeutsch", you never flatter your tongue. Yea, it sucks but it is the way it is.
    So, in my case I think I will have to train my "r" much more.

    Hi everyone..
    My friend shared me this tip how to rolling letter "R":
    Read these 3 words out loud:
    1.Ular (uh'laRRR)
    2.Lari (lah'RRRi)
    3.Lurus (luh'RRRus)
    These 3 words come from Malay language spoken in Southeast Asia.
    The meaning:
    1.Ular =snake 🐍
    2.Lari = run
    3.Lurus = straight
    GOOD LUCK 💪

      After lots of practise and speaking to natives I started to get better and now I can’t roll it properly on all words but I can do it pretty well.
      This won’t help and ik it won’t as I felt the exact same, reading stories about how people got better with practise and thinking “yeah but that’s them and not me, I can’t do this” or “they’re lucky they can do this”. But practise is the only way to get better.
      You can pull through and you can do this.

    Excellent idea for helping someone to articulate /r/ but there are many people who are not linguistically/culturally able to do the "r-trill" you are doing. I am one of those people and I do not have any distorted /r/'s and I speak Spanish and English. I am not able to do the /r/ trills when I speak Spanish for certain /r/ trill words but that would not make me unintelligible....One thing you can say in your videos is that these are just exercises and that the person may have trouble doing "/r/ trills" the way you expertly do them, but try doing them anyway as it will be a good way to help elevate the tongue & articulate the pesky /r/ and that you do not expect people to be able to reach your perfect /r/ trills the way that you are doing them in this video. You are probably in the minority in regards to being able to say those /r/ trills repetitively like you do. At least for speakers of languages that do not use the /r/ trills. Excellent tips though and thank you for posting your videos.
