I believed that because of a physical defect (e.g. defect in the tongue) I couldn’t roll the “r” in my native language, the Greek. The Greeks roll the “r”. By following your instructions step by step and by practicing every day I managed to roll the “r” at my sixties! It took me some months. Every detail in your video was useful either technically or psychologically. Congratulations and thank you very much!
vhanla i can roll the R in cantonese (in case you aren't familiar, cantonese doesn't have an R. i felt the need to explain the joke, you're very welcome, people)
That was excellent! I had to find out on my own, by learning where the rolling occurs/ ...can occur... and that for Arabic, a language, that apparently was once determined to do everything everywhere... Incidentally: The cork you use is, at least where I live, a champagne cork. This having to avoid the cork task reminds me of something I learned in a video about singing: There, the advice was to sing "around the tongue." The new perceptions that provoked gave me an idea what happened in my mouth! From that on, I was able to roll the "R" after about 6 months.
Video was very helpful. When I added the r trill to vowels and then reversed the order to vowels to r trills was really helpful. Thanks. I speak good Russian but I could never roll my r’s.
Awesome advise!!! My first language is English, 2nd Spanish, I’m learning Italian, than my 4th will be Russian but I sometimes have difficulty rolling my Rs when they appear in the middle of a word but this exercise has been very helpful. Thank you 🙏🏻
Oscar Tártalo hola, una preguntita: i hope you speak english. i've studied russian and spanish - as a native speaker, would you confirm that with the spanish R the tongue is in the front (e.g. taRde, maRiposa, ...) rather than in the back in russian (e.g. хоРошо, ...) muchas gracias señor (:
The song trick is great! I'm not fantastic with my rolled Rs but I'm a lot better than I used to be and it's from singing songs from Coco, specifically the one at the end and the line "canten a corro" 😂
i can roll my r's but I can't do it for a continuous amount of time. Like for example, I can't do the the happy birthday song while rolling my r the whole time. Does anyone know how to help?
This is going to be very difficult when the native language is dutch. The dutch R is in the upper temple FAR in the back. I think it is called gutteral. After 40+ years in Canada I still dont have the perfect english R (which is a bit of the twist of the tongue) So my accent gives away where I come from... "are you german? or dutch?" they ask. Bingo ! again I gave it away. Now I'm going to practice the russian R rrrrrrrrrr on the tip of the tongue hmmmm , need to practice more... ! Thank you for your clear instruction. First I have to buy a bottle of champagne to get the cork.... Salud!
ive just started watching these videos and whilst i can roll R's i do it at the back of my mouth which gets difficult after a while, i can manage drrr and trrrr but with any thing else before the r or the r by its self i default back to using the back of my toungue, does anyone have any tips on what i should do here, is using the back of the toungue okay, will i get better at it after a while or should i only roll r with the front of my tongue. where do i go from here??
I have been living in Germany for 27 years because my Russian mother decided to marry a German man back then. I can read, speak and write Russian but I cannot fix my "r". If it was not for the"r", you would not be able to tell that I have been living in Germany for so long. Everything else was just quite easy to learn. I have been practicing the rolling "r" for some time but it did not always work. When you speak "Hochdeutsch", you never flatter your tongue. Yea, it sucks but it is the way it is. So, in my case I think I will have to train my "r" much more.
Greetings from Perú!!! ✌️👽 You are an excellent teacher,I LOVE the way you teach. All the effort you put for all your students to learn. Thanks a lot!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Congrats for your channel!!! 💪🤩👍
I dont get :( i can roll my r's but they are waaaaaaay too long. So i tried the excercise with the cork but whenever i put it inside my mouth my r's are not rolled. I dont know how to shorten them plsssss help

This is so much fun , ah I love your ideas about getting used to pronounce it. Get infront of mirror and talk to yourself RRRRR R??? RRR R !! HAHA , thanks!
I wish there were easier ways. But okay, I'll try my best. Anyway, some people have told me that my R is better when I'm talking with words etc now, but just sometimes though, the old R is still there. Is it okay if I practice my R with words? Also I don't have any wine cork, can I use anything?
I'm welsh and the welsh language needs Rolled R's yet I can't , I speak English though and in training of welsh lol but cant get passed this Rolling R hurdle im so bad. well idk if im even am rolling my R's and if i think i am what idk , it could be a rolled W! im the worse, can you help , ive watched these videos for finger in mouth lol to vibrate the tongue while saying D to this ,
@@СтранаРоссия05 it’s did make me really angry and now it makes me feel more hopeless, I wrote this comment when I was one of my lowest points. After lots of practise and speaking to natives I started to get better and now I can’t roll it properly on all words but I can do it pretty well. This won’t help and ik it won’t as I felt the exact same, reading stories about how people got better with practise and thinking “yeah but that’s them and not me, I can’t do this” or “they’re lucky they can do this”. But practise is the only way to get better. You can pull through and you can do this. Hope this kinda helps. God bless.
Excellent idea for helping someone to articulate /r/ but there are many people who are not linguistically/culturally able to do the "r-trill" you are doing. I am one of those people and I do not have any distorted /r/'s and I speak Spanish and English. I am not able to do the /r/ trills when I speak Spanish for certain /r/ trill words but that would not make me unintelligible....One thing you can say in your videos is that these are just exercises and that the person may have trouble doing "/r/ trills" the way you expertly do them, but try doing them anyway as it will be a good way to help elevate the tongue & articulate the pesky /r/ and that you do not expect people to be able to reach your perfect /r/ trills the way that you are doing them in this video. You are probably in the minority in regards to being able to say those /r/ trills repetitively like you do. At least for speakers of languages that do not use the /r/ trills. Excellent tips though and thank you for posting your videos.

How about the American R?
I have yet to hear anyone describe where the tongue is positioned during the vibration? Is is on the bottom of the upper teeth, behind?
It is a little behind the upper teeth on that bumpy area.

I find it easier to roll R's in words than just roll the r alone.

i can already roll rs in words like ruski, dracula, Training... is it possible to roll rs in words like: word, cork, Sport etc?
Antichrist yes
Hi everyone..
My friend shared me this tip how to rolling letter "R":
Read these 3 words out loud:
1.Ular (uh'laRRR)
2.Lari (lah'RRRi)
3.Lurus (luh'RRRus)
These 3 words come from Malay language spoken in Southeast Asia.
The meaning:
1.Ular =snake 🐍
2.Lari = run
3.Lurus = straight
GOOD LUCK 💪
I have a different problem. I can trill but it sounds like I have a cat hiss sound before the r. How can I fix this?
JuGGerJuGGs oh Yees same. Its more like sshrrrrrrrrrr
It becomes very difficult when the Russian p is in the middle of at the end of a word.
Hello mam, my rrrrrrr sounds like ttrrrrrrrrrr.. Like a frog.... Please help me to fix this... How to remove that T from the TRRRRRRRR🙏🙏🙏
i roll my r With teh tongue in the bottom of my Mouth,Not in the Top... can i do the cork Trick Too?
does it matter if you have an over bite or under bite with your teeth and jaw?
no, it doesn't matter:)
I just figured I cant cuz I have a slight overbite but I'm thinking its cuz I have a short tongue
I can roll my r's, But your exercises help me to do it better. Now, if you could just help me to learn to whistle...?

use anything that works for you
I paid for the course and I still don't think I got it down
Do you train at udemy?
no

I use my throat to roll R’s is that still the same thing
Ravenell is that necessary ? Kids go on here to learn and you have to make a comment like that.
Being Scot we already know how to roll or R's.
Actually my problem is in reverse. I can do it perfectly in a word when it's short but it's impossible for me to to it alone and long.
So helpful! Could you reupload the first part? The link doesn't work anymore :(
