This shit made me shed a tear listening to it. Farewell and, wherever you are, I hope it's somewhere pleasant with your friends and family. Thanks for everything.
I usually agree, but funny enough, I was at this show and Chris point-blank asked the audience to tell him what we wanted to hear, which is why people were yelling out songs. Such an incredible show!
I don’t know exactly why entirely, I know this song meant a lot to me when I was deploying-it just hit home for me then, but listening to him sing this brought me to tears, what a talent, what a respectful guy to give credit to his elders, what a sad end to a great life we loved. Just wow
This song was played at my uncle's funeral. Ccr vision never new Cornell had such good taste. Haven't cried since the funeral 10 years ago. Put a candle in the window. Ain't never coming home. Happy Easter
There was nothing this legend couldn't sing and do the best version I've ever heard. Sadly gone so so soon. We will always love and miss you. I truly hope you seen the light my brother.
There's something about music man it just cleans your soul.. no matter how you feel. I feel like blowing my brains out but Chris has gave me the strength to fight another day. Thank You Chris Cornell
Thanks for crediting Chris for his part in giving you strength to fight. Now that he has left us I pray the work he left behind for us with will continue to strengthen us to fight harder to stay longer. God bless you Jack, hang on!
i've been a fan for 20+ years, seen the bands he has been a part of and him solo live many times over, and yet his performances (his voice, as well as his range as an artist in general) never fail to impress! never boring! damn good cover!
how did you know that he was going to play this right before? Of all the great CCR songs. Only Chris could have covered John Fogerty & sound amazing! RIP CC
I was listening to this song.. The ccr version when I got the call my grandmother died in a house fire back in 1999... To this day I can not listen to their version of it.. But chris made it possible to hear an old favorite..
He had soul, range, power and a certain purity of tone that enabled him to sing anything he chose to. Then he could play several instruments to a high standard and write great tunes. I guess you pay a price for that kind of talent.
Every time I see him still playing with Buckleys phone, theres a feeling that comes over me I cannot explain..RIP Chris....not a single day has gone I dont weep....30 yrs in my life was not long enough..***tears**
Jessica Marie it's not all that easy for some of us to see. Depression is a matter of brain chemistry and endorphins don't flow correctly. We wake up each day unexcited and (for periods of time) almost angry at the new day for including a piece of shit like us in it's bright shining confidence. We take the pills the docs give us, but they're not (I don't wanna say "enough") always effective or a match for our brain chemistry. It gets soo hard to keep telling yourself that it's just a chemical imbalance. It gets soo hard too keep believing that you're a person like everyone else no matter who you're supposed to be or how you're supposed to be happy in your station of life. It's a fight....everyday for a lot of us. A knock down, drag out slugfest that never ends....but some of us give up and end....well I think you know now. Thanks for listening.
Jessica Marie He bathed in it and went to it he was a candle and the darkness think they sorted him out they can but he lived and is such a cool thing you tube to spark the candle in my window🖼
I miss my Pop. He grew up with Creedence, and when I asked him what two songs he would like me to play for him as he was dying, this was one of them. I wasn't able to play it for him before the end, but he has a cassette tape in the pocket of his favorite flannel shirt.
That's so beautiful...... Thank you for sharing such a touching and inspiring story... Hats off to your Pop.... ccr happens to be my favorite too so I kind of understand. Esp this song.
YAWEH bless your soul Chris, your gift from YAWEH has touched millions. It was a godsend that I actually got to see you the day before you died. You outreached and outshined, thank you.
Thanks for sharing your experience at the show! Obviously due to recent events, I went back and listened to Chris's covers over the years. It was suggested by true fans of his work.. .. I have to say .. this is A. A good quality recording!, and B. an amazing cover by Chris!
@@brianrobbins762 Like a minute ago, I was thinking how if someone asked me who's the greatest rock vocalist of all time, I'd probably say that it's a tie between CC and Freddie, and I instantly thought of Steve Perry too. Great singers indeed.
this is in the original key of B - the key the track was recorded it in. Search YOU Tube and you won't anyone else going for it - even Fogerty pulls it back a full tone to A
Just seeing this now, only Chris Cornell is worthy to sing a John fogerty tune. Unbelievable vocalist and musician. Dam i miss his person in the world. Music is Chris Cornell and he is music... RIP Mr spoonman thanks for your music...🙏🤘🦊
Put a candle in the window 'Cause I feel I've gotta move Though I'm goin', goin' I'll be comin' home soon Long as I can see the light Pack my bag and let's get moving 'Cause I'm bound to drift awhile Though I'm gone, gone You don't have to worry Long as I can see the light Guess I've got that old travelin' bone 'Cause this feeling won't leave alone But I won't, won't Be losin' my way Long as I can see the light Yeah Yeah Yeah Oh yeah Put a candle in the window 'Cause I feel I've gotta move Though I'm goin', goin' I'll be comin' home soon Long as I can see the light Long as I can see the light Long as I can see the light Long as I can see the light Long as I can see the light
When you were with us your soul merged with your voice and now that you're gone your voice merges with your soul. And every time we hear the traces you left behind you carry us to that place in the everlife that you've gone to solidly on the back of your wings. We are still hurting Chris...
No, I assume you are talking about the red phone-it was given to him by the mother of Jeff Buckley, Chris' friend who died in 1997 and it uses it as a prop
Damn, how I miss this man. Theres no week I come through RUclips watch and listen the guy blessing us with his music. Still hurts. See u someday Chris!

wow, I never knew he did this. Cornell has such a wonderful voice. Great job. I love this almost as much as nothing compares to you and that is saying a lot.

It's a beautiful rendition...he got the pain in the hauntingly soulful raw blues of John Fogerty's voice.., and it's beautiful of him to acknowledge them as such.
Chris could cover anybody but no one can cover him.
One of the most real statements ever.
The undertaker covered him! The blood of the (Lamb) may have..
Except Johnny Cash

Maybe the "greatest rock vocalist of all time'', I have a difficult time arguing against that statement when I hear it.
I disagree
Chris could sing anything! Im doing a Chris Cornell marathon this weekend..non stop, music for the soul

Gave me goosebumps. When I die...hopefully not any time soon, but I want this song at my funeral.
perfect song for his voice
His voice is so similar to Fogerty. ❤️
Oh man what John and Chris would have sounded like on stage together. And Chris would not have tried to outshine him in any way. great cover!
What a voice. I've always said that CC has few equals
NONE!
Yea who?
Brian Robbins tough one.... Mercury maybe?
Yea mercury is real good. Not much low range though. Or Steve Perry too.

John fogerty and Cornell have similar wailing voices...fogerty is so underrated...I think he was better than plant
His songs with his kids during covid have been awsome!
Totally better than McCartney too, one of the best rock vocalist of all time. Imo only maybe little Richard and maybe Jackie Wilson better .

Long as I can see the light
Pack my bag and let's get moving
'Cause I'm bound to drift awhile

Guess I've got that old travelin' bone
'Cause this feeling won't leave alone
But I won't, won't
Be losin' my way
Long as I can see the light
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Oh yeah

Just incredible voice! I'm a big fan of his acoustic guitar too. Something about it makes his voice just resonate inside of you.
I love Chris Cornell and this song has special meaning. He is amazing live! POWERFUL
favorite song , sung by one of my favorite singers...RIP
