Man… morgott. Nothing but pain and suffering that lineage caused him. Even as his second phase “power up” is activating it sounds like he is in agonizing pain. Devout, unshakable loyalty to a corrupt “god”, a father that was never going to prioritize being a father because of duty and a mother that is physically and emotionally disgusted by you for centuries. Raised in a damn dungeon from childhood… shackled by your own mother. Physically deformed more or less his whole life. All for things 1000% out of his control.
As awesome as he is, in a weird way Gael actually succeeds in his goal to make a new painting through us so I don’t know if that is considered “tragic”
@@joshp.1682idk, you can ultimately attain your goal but at such a horrific cost, you question if it was worth it. Gael endured countless eons of time in combat, first as a slave and then questing for the Painter. He bravely consumes the dark soul, knowing he is sacrificing his last bit of identity, an act of courage. So his apparently altruistic sacrifice does offer hope for a better universe, his journey getting there is absolutely tragic
@@ThommyofThenn yes, but at the same time when we see the last of his ownself leave he seems rather not that much concerned, maybe because he barely knew what was happening at that point or didn't have enough sanity to realize he was about to go hollow and fight us even if we are on his side, we can know tho that even if he died or worse he was happy to help the painter, so I would say even if he could have evaded what happened to him, he would still do it for the sake of the painter and the world, or what it's left of it atleast
Gael's story isn't entirely tragic, unlike many on this list, he managed to achieve his goal, even if he didn't like to see it. Also the man was a slave knight who survived to the very end of everything.
Morgott by far had the worst fate. Right off the bat he was born an abomination and his fate was sealed from the start. Thrown into the sewers and tortured (the shackles). How he didn't turn out like Mohg is wild. Instead he chooses to uphold the same ideology that shunned him. All the others had a chance to do something in life and benefit from it, Morgott never had any chance for anything other then suffering, awake and sleeping.
Feel like Chadfrey should be moved up a few places maybe just past the Burn Ivory King. Bro got used by Marika for the sole purpose of warring against anyone who stood against the Golden Order and once that was done, Marika cast him aside and basically banished him to his death. He was just used and discarded. Chadfrey deserved better
You do realize this is Godfrey we talking about out. The man cares for nothing but battle and once all his worthy enemies are felled wtf do you think he’s gonna do, sit on his hands. Guarantee you Godfrey would be begging for death chilling on the Lands Between with no one to squabble with. Marika did him a solid cuz she knew he was gonna be bored out of his mind and would prolly slaughter all the denizens after being driven to insanity
Marika's goal when casting him was that he would go on a travel without grace and would eventually come back stronger she never abandoned him it was on purpose you learn that in the DLC
At least from what I can tell, Godfrey was beloved and had a really good life under Marika. It also seems that at the very least, Marika acted like she cared for Godfrey. I personally think that Godfrey was only abandoned because of him possibly aging, since what the hell could have taken him down? Edit: I did not know that Marika intended to make him stronger.
@@kinguchiha6212 you are right, and also Godfrey story is not that tragic because he literally doesn't care that much, as a matter of fact if I remember correctly he is only Marika husband at some point because he fought her and losed because she was a god after all, and then was basically forced to be her consort just for later cast him outside
Imma argue messmer even though he isn’t technically a “hero” he was a genuine demigod who showed compassion and was forced to confine away after committing atrocities in the name of a mother who did not want him
I think it's a tie between Ludwig and Father Gasgoine. They were already subcoming into their beasthood when you arrive on the night of the hunt. Both becoming inflected from the beast they had been hunting and slowly giving into their carnal desires for blood.
In a sense, Gwynn is among the most tragic. He and other Lords established Age of Fire, the age of flourish and prosperity. Nothing horrified him more than knowing his age dwindled and forgotten, so he burnt himself and became the very first Lord of Cinder to rekindle the fire. It should be noted that if Age of Fire ends, the gods and their miracles would stop to exist as well, so Gwynn was also trying to save his own kinds by sacrificing Undeads and Ashen ones. He has committed many monstrous actions indeed, but many of those in this list has also done so.
Radahn is likely not charmed Ansbach says when seeing him "General Radahn. A pleasure to see you, after all this time. But those remains do not belong to you. Lord Mohg will have his dignity". Ansbach knows first hand what it's like to be charmed so why wouldn't he recognise the symptoms? If Radahn is charmed why is Ansbach mad at him and not Miquella? And since he respects Radahn why isn't he even more mad at Miquella? Miquella is also inside the gate of divinity and only meets Radahn again in phase 2 (His charm requires physical contact to activate) Radahn also seems to be guarding the gate. Freyja a founding member of Radahn's personnal guard still trusts Miquella with Radahn after the charm breaks. She still cares about Radahn because she won't show up at Enir Ilim if she doesn't learn more about the vow. (She outranks Jerren, he's only a guest commander) So his resurrection is similar to Isshin's, he didn't want to be revived but has to reluctantly agree with the terms because of his honour. And it is possible the battle of Aeonia was Radahn's request to Miquella (The twins' part of the vow Miquella mentions in the memory)
This is a great idea! I felt he wasn’t charmed simply to be on Miquellas side, as nothing in the game said he was. It makes more sense that he feels his honor is to stand as a consort like he promised, and he would fight to death for it.
@@TheMidnightVendetta Vows in the Lands Between seem to be very sacred to uphold, according to turtle pope: "You would do well to remember... Severing a vow, strongest of bonds, has consequences ever more dire". Radahn of all people would know this best being the son of Radagon and Rennala. He would lose all his honour if he ran from Enir Ilim. Although it's not all bad for Radahn, he gets to be Elden Lord as Miquella's consort just like Godfrey was Marika's lord. He even has his hair styled like Godfrey's and uses some of his moves.
@@Ratscracher yeah when framed that way it would be a story book ending. Radhan a warrior consort to a holy emperyan god, just like his idol Godfrey. He is maintaining his promise to Miquella, a vow is in his blood to be important. Miquella is ushering in an age of understanding and no antagonism. Then the tarnished comes in.
No. I don't see anything hinting it in Ansbach's voicelines. And Freyja says "war suits better Radahn", not "Radahn likes war better". Radahn clearly tried to resist Miquella. He doesn't strike me as a guy who would see Caelid, his home, nuked by Malenia for the fun of it. Someone who would just abandon his duty of holding the stars, abandon Leonard. As for if he accepted in the beggining or not Miquella's propossal, I don't know, but I do know, he fought Malenia with everything he had to try and not fall to Miquella.
Miquella has the power to charm anyone, Radahn probably didn't agree on being his consort knowing how proud of a fighter he is, Miquella probably didn't even let him choose, he abandoned his kindness so he probably just charmed him before Radahn could do anything, same with Mohg

@@deathandrebirth-y8x It is a really bitter ending for such an honorable character, but it isn't an interpretation, it's the canon, what I'm mad about is how the festival was to give Radahn an honorable ending and everyone though they did give him that wish, but Miquella had to come over and stripe that honorable death of him just for his own plans

I don’t know if The Abyss Watchers is the most tragic (def up there) But damn if theirs isn’t one of the most memorable & “poetic” (maybe?) & Slave Knight Gael. Living through THE ENTIRE DS world, ending up Hollow & an utter force of hatred (prob what Gwyn saw in his vision & was like “NOPE! Nope nope!” & became a self fulfilling prophecy anyway. THAT’s good tragedy)
Shoutout to 3 giants: Hawkeye Gough, one of Gwyn’s 4 knights absolute madlad when wielding a greatbow and kindhearted guy, unfortunately no one seems to like giants so he never got any respect and people even stuffed tree resin in his helmet causing him to go blind. Despite this he still shoots down Kalameet for us. Giant Lord, after his homeland was attacked for seemingly no real reason, Giant Lord retaliated, but was felled by the Bearer of the Curse. Almost all of his soldiers fell, but he was dragged down and imprisoned at the bottom of the Forest of Fallen Giants, until we show up again. In his last fight he’s so desperate, he even tears his own arm off. Lastly there’s Yhorm, Ruler of the Profaned Capital, due to the everlasting prejudice against giants Yhorm could never be good enough a ruler for his people, so he took the chance to make the ultimate sacrifice, to show his devotion and good will for his people and tried to become a Lord of Cinder, it seems, however, that with his sacrifice, everyone in the Profaned Capital went up in flames as well. Definitely not the most tragic, but very sad nonetheless.
the pyrcomancer buddy from dark souls 1 that ends up attacking you in blight town swamp....slave knight gael....true king allant......rom spider and several others from bloodborne....maliketh black blade....guardian ape!
Promise doesnt automatically mean that they both agreed to it, a synonym for promise is vow which both can be one way contracts, for example igon vows(promises) to kill bayle and that he will rue this day
The reason the abyss watchers sacrificed themselves was because they thought that the first flame would help fight off or slow the abyss, and not to gain more power.. either way, that didn’t go so well for farron (or what remains of it.) ironic indeed
Am I the only one who thinks it’s weird how Radahn turns his head once Miquella piggy backs him. Every time I see the cut scene I just feel like Radahn is not in control of himself. Mans was brought back from the longest nap ever and immediately got charmed, THEN Miquella went into the Gate of Divinty. He would t turn himself into a God without his Lord Brother (I felt like a Black Templar saying Lord Brother lmaoo)
I wouldn't put godfrey on the list at all, apart from getting exiled, he pretty much did want he wanted in life, fighting and died doing it as well. He is one of the few that had a 'fulfilling' life. And even if you stretch it really hard , then you have characters like gherman or gwyndolin that are simply on another level
I wouldn't call Godfrey or Radahn hero's by any stretch, as they were more or less puppets for a broken order. Marika never communed with the greater will, as it had fled the lands between just like the dragon god. So if the greater will never told Marika to wage war, then what was the point of those wars? Why genocide the giants? Why enslave the misbegotten? Whats the point of trying to slay anyone under the carian moon? Or those who live in death? The golden order was broken from the start, and any general willing to lead their armies was seeking blood at the end of the day. Radahn betrayed his family for a chance at being Marika's war dog
Nameless king should have been here too , he was banished from the kingdom after leading the armies of Gwen for god knows how long and people like havel and ornestien looked up to him yet his name was removed from history, his statues broken and he became hollow
Be serious. Gael story isn't tragic, it's heroic at its peak. Fromsoft the lowest of lows to the last standing. That is not tragic but an accomplishment
@@AtomicZamuraiHeroic and tragic aren't mutually exclusive you just freaking watched a video about tragic heroes so I don't why you would make that argument
Artorias: His legacy is a lie, everybody believed he succeeded. Slave Knight Gael: His legacy is true, nobody will ever know. (Except the painter???) Let me know if I got that right. I think Gael is tragic, but I think you could look at it as what he accomplished outweighs his sacrifice. Or something.
Morgatt was given grase his name is the grase given and his great rune acknowledged that he is the true lord of laindal and in his death marital removed his horns and tale gettin rid of his curse you can see in Godfrey’s cutscene that there is grase getting out of morgatt’s body
I still wonder if malenia was possibly under miquella’s enchantment just like mohg and miquella’s followers and forced to nuke caelid. Unfortunately there’s no way to really know who had genuine affection for miquella given he nature of his power
Miquella probably had Malenia on a short leash, but not because she was literally charmed, but because she was "charmed", manipulated by Miquella in an emotional level without him using his powers for it.
@@adrielortega7352 that’s a good point, and being able to do that, use people without the need of his powers, honestly paints miquella to be even more villainous!
personally, I didn't include her because she didn't give me heroic vibes. But if I was to include her I would placed her under morgott due to her being born with a curse
Wait, the Abyss Watchers weren't respected with honor tho, in the lore it says that everyone actually feared them for the consequences they brought, it's said that whenever they arrived at a place/city/town everyone had fear because they knew what it meant for them to be here, to fight the abyss and anyone who could have maybe sucumbed it, leading to innocents lives loses and deaths in the crossfire of their fights, all of them leading to the fall of said town/city cause of they fighting and killing, it's said that only ruins were left from where they go, their helmets where feared because when someone saw a bunch of pointy helmet arriving at a place they knew it was the Abyss Watcher, ready to destroy with their army anything relationated with the abyss, the only tragic thing about their story is that they ended up consumed by the abyss just like everyone who tried to fight it like Artorias or Midir, and remember that they are following the fake story of Artorias and not the real one

As I said Laurence's thinks that he have become a god like the great one's for just their blood. He doesn't want to know more of them like master William he just wants their power. And in the end he take what he deserved become a cleric beast and be stuck on the nightmare for ever thinking what he have done. Also lava is splash all over him which is symbolic because fire is the main enemy of beasts on Bloodborne that's the reason Laurence's have lava and fire all over him.I think Laurence when he created the church he wanted to know the answer behind the phrase "do ends justifies the means" in the end he get his answer being stuck in his own nightmare knowing that he will never reach the godly level he wants
Also gerhman and Maria have a tragic fate but I think Messmer have also a tragic fate.He is technically a hero but you can count him as a villain too if you want. But his fate is just nah.He was born with two curses one was the fire that burned him for the inside and the other the abysmal snake the also lived inside of him.Being the second favourite child of his mother Queen Marica after Godwig the golden he Will do everything his mother said to him like erase a ancient civilization for sake of her(tell that you have mommy issues with telling me that you have mommy issues). After all of this his mother abandoned him on the land of shadows making the worst mother and the worst ever
Vyke should've been here

For real though
Where is Gael, the best character in all soul game
As awesome as he is, in a weird way Gael actually succeeds in his goal to make a new painting through us so I don’t know if that is considered “tragic”
Artorias would like to have a word, or three
@@joshp.1682idk, you can ultimately attain your goal but at such a horrific cost, you question if it was worth it.
All the others had a chance to do something in life and benefit from it, Morgott never had any chance for anything other then suffering, awake and sleeping.
ludwig and its not even close
@@Koyabi ah damn you're right I completely forgot about that part. I retract my statement, Godfrey belongs where he is lol
(She outranks Jerren, he's only a guest commander)
So his resurrection is similar to Isshin's, he didn't want to be revived but has to reluctantly agree with the terms because of his honour.
No
Miquella has the power to charm anyone, Radahn probably didn't agree on being his consort knowing how proud of a fighter he is, Miquella probably didn't even let him choose, he abandoned his kindness so he probably just charmed him before Radahn could do anything, same with Mohg
i hate this interpretation. they are on a fight for godhood. thats the whole point of the shattering. and radhan failed to take the capital. he got pegged by morgott. he probably just wanted a warriors death.
@@Sin-Nombre04 no i mean malenia was supposed to defeat him in battle. before the festival was started. radhan probably already knew of the plan.
malenia must have been sure that she could beat him. im thinking someone like gowry gave him a last minute power boost. and radhan took it wanting to defend sellia
@@deathandrebirth-y8x Mallenia fighted Radahn because he refused to become Miquella consort when he asked him in the past, and Mallenia went to force Radahn to do it, Radahn was know as the second strongest demigod in that moment so he winned Mallenia without breaking a sweat but Mallenia used the scarlot rot to kill him even if it was a not honorable move, aldo dooming all of Caelid in the proccess, and the npc that organizes the festival was friends with Radahn and both promosed to one another that if for some reason they became mad or started going against their own rules of honor the other one would kill him to make sure they both died with honor, people seem to forget that Radahn unlike most of the other demigods was actually one of the most genuine nice ones
@@Sin-Nombre04 nah. when he asked him in the past he agreed.
I don’t know if The Abyss Watchers is the most tragic (def up there)
But damn if theirs isn’t one of the most memorable & “poetic” (maybe?)
& Slave Knight Gael. Living through THE ENTIRE DS world, ending up Hollow & an utter force of hatred (prob what Gwyn saw in his vision & was like “NOPE! Nope nope!” & became a self fulfilling prophecy anyway. THAT’s good tragedy)
Chosen undead was the only one to realize he lives in an endless cycle, he is "cursed with knowledge"
Shoutout to 3 giants:
Hawkeye Gough, one of Gwyn’s 4 knights absolute madlad when wielding a greatbow and kindhearted guy, unfortunately no one seems to like giants so he never got any respect and people even stuffed tree resin in his helmet causing him to go blind.
Promise doesnt automatically mean that they both agreed to it, a synonym for promise is vow which both can be one way contracts, for example igon vows(promises) to kill bayle and that he will rue this day
Main heroes in soulsborne games have tragic fates too (sometimes)
Vyke. In my opinion, not only in the souls lore but in the game they cut his content so my man can’t catch a break.
Morgott is too low tbh. Bro was confined to the sewers from birth yet died a noble king.
Because of the timer covering last letter in the thumbnail i've read "Traginc Fatt"
Ah yes my favorite dlc boss “Manos”
The reason the abyss watchers sacrificed themselves was because they thought that the first flame would help fight off or slow the abyss, and not to gain more power.. either way, that didn’t go so well for farron (or what remains of it.) ironic indeed
correction radhan did not accept that consort spot he was forced to become it there was no willingness at all
Messmer had it worse.
The ones that come to mind to me are gael, artorias, gundyr, gwyn, wolnir...
Nobody’s gonna mention the lack of Vyke?
Gael?
Be serious. Gael story isn't tragic, it's heroic at its peak. Fromsoft the lowest of lows to the last standing. That is not tragic but an accomplishment
@@AtomicZamurai he still had tho endure madness for an non countable amount of years
He didn’t have a tragic fate did you read the title
@@AtomicZamuraiHeroic and tragic aren't mutually exclusive you just freaking watched a video about tragic heroes so I don't why you would make that argument
Artorias: His legacy is a lie, everybody believed he succeeded.
Slave Knight Gael: His legacy is true, nobody will ever know. (Except the painter???)
Let me know if I got that right.
I think Gael is tragic, but I think you could look at it as what he accomplished outweighs his sacrifice. Or something.
Gascoigne had the worst
Are you NOT going to talk about Gehrman? He clears the list and by a very good margin.
Actually omens also get constant nightmares but I still don't think it's on ludwig's level
What do you think about Malenia? Somehow I may put her fate among them (those in videos)
personally, I didn't include her because she didn't give me heroic vibes. But if I was to include her I would placed her under morgott due to her being born with a curse
He ain’t a hero but I gotta pay respect to everyones favorite snake boi Messmer
Imagine being named The Pee Pee Poo Poo Man
Now if we were to rank which Soulsborne game has the most amount of tragic fates, Bloodborne would be at the top.
Iron Wayfarer should be on the list.

Ironic that death was a release for all.
Ngl i can't see Morgott as a hero, consideing the things he did to people in his position. He's a hypocrite.

He deflected with the Sekiro tear
I think the tragedy for Godfrey is having his wife cheat on him with herself
he probably cheated with red headed harlot
Yhorm the giant is pog
I haven’t watched the video but if this is about the protagonist than it’s the hunter bro either dies become a slave or become a goddamn Slug
Gerhman should have been here and pretty high
where's my goat messmer?!?!?
Messmer wasn't really a hero
Vendrick is the most tragic in my opinion
Nah. He was just blind
Almost everyone from BB had a worse fate lol.
