DMC5SE Vergil Judgement Cut Timing & Tutorial

- In my previous short clip of Judgement Cut timing someone asked for a more detailed explanation, so here we are!
DMC5SE is the first time I use Vergil. I personally struggled with the timing for Judgement Cut. The game doesn't offer any real guidance. I went through the painful process of try-and-error until I got the rhythm. Making this video to help anyone out their struggling B-)

i get it now, holding the button down represents him having his sword sheathed, and every release is releasing his sword. god i love these devs
The details!
I wish they thought of it in DMC3 so i wouldn't have years of muscle memory of doing it the opposite way.
@@avocadopictures9706
lol RIP
Bruh thanks for making this analogy I was in practice mode trying to do the judgement cut more than once and I started doing it how you described it and now I’m doing it like a pro!!!
@@avocadopictures9706 it be like that
"releasing the button right when the scabbard sparkles"
every time ive managed to get a perfect judgement cut, the scabbard hasnt even begun to sparkle yet. so im not entirely sure using that as a visual is a good idea haha
It probably means you did it when it should have sparkled, which I think is the timing because otherwise you could just release any time during the light effect in general
@@SC-cx9ti I can’t go by visuals either tho cause when I do it it’s the same as what he described but I can get 3 in a row every so often
@@druidspoe6885 seems that if you see the sparkle then you are too late. You have to release it when it normally wouod sparkle
The animation is different depending on the combo, but if you're doing a regular judgement cut into a perfect cut the sparkle people are referring to is a split second after the sword is sheathed the guard flashes. If you time your release to line up with that flash you'll do a perfect cut. If I release a split second before that flash I can do a perfect cut pretty consistently, however as far as I can tell there is no visual cue for the perfect cut chain. So I've yet to figure out the timing for the chain
If you have an oker gaming mouse set it to the blue mode.
Really great tutorial! Was looking for an explanation of perfect jc chain and this video was perfect, short and straight to the point with a followup showing combos you can chain it into! I was having trouble hitting one perfect jc and now I can chain 3 easily!
I heard that every sheathing animation has a special mechanic that allows for a Judgment cut if you press the buttom right when the "glow" shows up, including the taunts.
Yes, every sheathing, including the taunt, is an opportunity for JC. I only show the common combo here. The possibility is endless!
Yes that includes force edge moves that end in sheathes, Judgement cut end sheathe, BP taunt sheathe, Ex taunt sheathe, Basically everything counts including the s rank air taunt slash
Fantastic. Even when vergil is in the toilet is an opportunity to do the JC xd
@@Isaac.769 lmaooo
@@ventithelatte2833 I think there's one sheathing that doesn't proc JC because I've been using Yamato Combo C and I've timed it to perfection of the click and he never does a Just Cut. It's weird because the animation is nearly exactly the same as when he sheaths at the end of Rapid Slash.
After hours of practice and this tutorial, I’ve finally got it!! No where near mastery, but I can say this was very helpful 👍.
This is the only tutorial on youtube that actually explains the timing. Every other youtuber just shows off. Thanks for the video!
For anyone still struggling with the 4 grounded judgement cuts what I do is let Vergil slide back then hold the melee button the moment he grabs and pulls the yamato and release at the moment he sheats it and just continue as I can easily do 3 on the ground but 4 is a bit tricky as the beginning feels off at first, hopefully this can be helpful
Man, this is so satisfying, thanks for the details it makes it a lot easy to understand how JC work, great video
Thank you so much!!! I accidentally chained some earlier and couldn't re-do it for the life of me.
This helped so much!! Thank you 💕
Glad it helps!!
You deserve more subscribes for this video alone! this is sooo helpful!
So simple... and such an easy tutorial to follow. Thank you forever for this.
Thanks so much, that is the best explanation i have seen on youtube. I will practice until i master it.
Thank you! Everybody’s videos I’ve been going to say I need to time button presses to get consecutive judgment cuts, but finally someone really tells me what I need to do!
Honestly thank you, the wording of the move in the skill list really confused me lmao, but with enough trial and error I finally understand the timing, now it's only the execution.
The DLC just dropped for PS4 and this video got recommended just nice for me. Was having a hard time trying to grasp the fundamentals of PJC. Thanks man!
This helped a lot! I also noticed there's a slight twinkle when he resheathes, if you click as the twinkpe appears he does it too. In the air is way easier for sure.
Glad this showed up in my recommendations again... this is where i learned how to do multiple jcs thank you my dude
I’m trying it right now, it’s fricken hard to master
u got it yet? it's so damn tough to get it.
@@TheAug1324 i'm training myself for it rn. the mid-air JC is much quicker and easier to hit it seems. i can get the triple fairly often in the air. but still miss the 2nd/3rd ground JC
Trust me it's very easy it's just hard to grip onto, you're probably a pro at JC now but what the easiest way to do this is by in air or ground use the first attack he does, you should be holding triangle or Y when doing the first attack, release midway through animation then if you hear him say hack and slash with the first JC on the ground, you did it perfectly, if you hear him say kneel before me, you did it perfectly
@@armplanet7524 yeah the audio cues made it a lot easier once i clued in to it. Once you get decent and notice how insanely powerful JCs are, you kinda don't want to use them as much and go for more style. But bosses just evaporate when you Doppelganger JC.
When you do it right when the slices of the JC is about to end there is a lil black portal that pops up for a split second if you time the slice with the portals its easier
Me: Dante is hard
Vergil: *exists*
Me: 👁️ 👄 👁️
Nero: Easy mechanic, but limited by it, not so safe if you go berserker against everything.
V: Limited mechanic, a bit difficult to get used to it, but safe to play if you take your distance.
Dante: (C)razy mechanic, not limited, but really unsafe if you don't know what you're doing, or if you start doing mad combos.
Vergil: *Perfectionist mechanic, limitless, if you can't catch a fly in middle air with a pair of chopsticks with your eyes closed, avoid toching this character*
@@comentaristachileno8080 :(
@@comentaristachileno8080 not really. dante has definitely more complexity inside his kit.
@@alphakira4473 As I tried to say, Vergil is not "Complex" because of being able of doing hundred of things at the same time, is complex by being a fuck-ton of precision what you need to use him and that makes his perfectionist mechanic, like, doing four Judgment Cuts is already a thing, but doing it all the time with all of them at perfect timing is other one.
Bro Dante is much harder to play than Vergil like holy hell the difference is huge. I found Vergil’s move set to be simpler and easier to play around with you just need to figure it out
Thank you very much man it’s really useful video thanks to it I’ve finally realized what was my mistake. I’m from Russia none of our bloggers didn’t help me like you, thanks buddy.
that's very good tutorial about vergil's Perfect JC. Thanks a lot!
Super useful video, right to the point; no BS, slow motion, thanks bro, You got my like.
Im still waiting for him in ps4 , but this will be handy when he releases, subbed!
Haha. Just like the video and save it to your playlist. I’m probably not gonna upload that often. Don’t really deserve the subs 😌
You have a point
My friend...it time 😏
Mastered it within the day with your help. Thanks so much for the tips
Thank you so much this actually help me more then any other videos cause I was wondering how you jc on the ground for the longest time and could not get the timing at all until I watched this video carefully.
after watching this guide I immediately was able to perform 3 JC in the ground, bless that slowmo
this is the tutorial that helped me string together 5 aerial JCs so tysm
Okay bro you just earned a sub because you are the ONLY person on YT here who explained that you need to PRESS immediately after and then hold.. lol I was losing my fucking mind trying to do this in the void for hours
This helps a LOT for timing perfect JC's subbed.
Thank you latte you helped a lot getting more frequent perfect judgment cuts now even chaining 3 sometimes nowhere near mastered it but will keep practicing
The last bit of advice of knowing how long to hold rather than when to release helped a lot!
Thanks man, EZ 10 second tutorial keep up the good work
You deseeve more subs ! Very detailed guide thank you
Thank you!!
You just hit the jackpot, thanks a lot my friend
Best guide i seen, wonder why its so hard to pull off lol. but after a while practising, i did it.. (i sometimes somehow did 4 jc's..) tyvm for this guide..and yes..all his skills spamming makes him crazy hahaha
This really helps
Well, I still suck at grounded perfect JC timing
But I kind of understand the on-air perfect JC
Thank you very much
Judgement Cut is up there with Mario's jump or Sonic's spin. Such a great move. Thanks for the clear explanation!
I’d say Dante’s Swords Formation and Nero’s Bringer Knuckles are up there with JC for best gimmicks in dmc5. They’re not as iconic, but they’re just as great.
Man, I was struggling so hard to get that third cut. Two was relatively easy, but getting the timing of the third cut was difficult. At some point, however, it just "clicked". I found the perfect timing and can even do a fourth cut with relative ease. Funny how, when you finally get the feel for it, it just automatically "clicks" and suddenly becomes hard to mess up.
Fourth cut? Isn’t the cap 3? He even says jackpot
@@SuperLari1234 I swear I did 4 many times
@@SuperLari1234 if the first cut isn't a just cut you can do four
Are you sure you dont have the assist on in the options cuz that makes JC pretty easy lol
@@Yiulias it is off. I have never played with assist on
thanks for the tutorial, been waiting for the DLC on pc and was wondering how JC was chained now I know ty!
In order to master vergil, you must be vergil. Right down tto the core
This is the series i've seen where you actually have to think like the character, perhaps even channeling his entire identity to fully master him.
PERFECTLY explained, ty so much
subbed just for the sake of it and I appreciate the help even though I can only do 2 consecutive rn , I’ll pratice !
Best tutorial I saw until now.
I thought I was crazy whenh I thought the timing felt WAY easier in the air. Glad to see its actually a thing. I can get a jackpot like 90% of the time in the air, and about 10% of the time on the ground lol.
Even slowmotion cant capture/reveal how fast vergil judgement cut
I haven't gotten to play yet, but this seems like a very good tutorial. Future, Vergil-playing me thanks you.
well this helped me just spent an hour in the void and can do it fairly consistently now :D
just getting the 4th one out is hard rn
Thanks for the tutorial. Let's get motivated
Thank you sir for the tutorial!
Thks bro, u're legend
Much appreciate compadre!
You are a god dude , respect.
Thank you for the tutorial was able to understand about the release timings and pressing the button while using judgement cut is important too but a very small window in which we need to release just before yamato shines. Was able to release judgement cut 4 times in a row first is regular judgement cut followed by perfect judgement cut or just cuts
it did help, thank you!
Such an awesome game!
Thank you for this very useful AND cute video
😀 thank you!! i can do just cut 2 times in a row now!!
I'm a little late to the party, but big thanks for the vid. It's also so much easier pulling JCs in the air that it is on the ground. The timing is more consistent. And I find relying on the JC animation easier to pull it off than on Vergil sheathing the Yamato. Just my opinion though.
thank you for the tips!
Thank you very so much bro it's helpful
Awesome tutorial thanks
Hey I have a tip I just learned while playing
If you do a normal judgment cut(non perfect) as he’s putting away his sword it will click blue in the sheath. If you have a second jc timed to release just as the first ends and his sheath clicks he does a perfect jc!
thx for the insight!
Wow this Da Da Da thing was really helpful, cause instead of consentating on timings i started to think about pushing-releasing sword sound, like long notes in rhythm games
Thanks for the tutorial
Dude you are a legend I totally get it now 10 goes the I did three quick JC not a normal teleport back JC. Quick JC is more powerful and the controller vibrates more.
Hey this is a fantastic video and it really helps to get into the mindset. I have a question, I see these crazy combos from people like Game Breaker God and SSSmoke etc and I want to get that good but I haven't a clue what to do other than randomly jump cancel in order to try to stay in the air. I can't get this absurdly fast timing down for everything like calibur jump cancel for nero. Like what am I supposed to do to start REALLY improving rather than just winging it with random attacks? Can you give some advice? I am willing to try and record gameplay if that helps? It doesn't have to be a video I can do email or whatever but I wanna do whatever it takes to get halfway decent at dmc!
Thanks for the video! While the ground version of the move is still kinda finicky for me, I pretty much mastered the air version 👍.
Now I am motivated with his clip...
for people like me tryng to do this for the first time, try doing it while ur on the air to get a feel of it. it helped me so :D
Got the basics down on when to release the button for the perfect JC. Still couldn't get the timing quite right but I've done it successfully more often than before. I guess I'll work on the timing again before moving on to practice triple perfect JC.
I officially give up trying to get this
God I practiced this for a few days and only was able to do 4 cuts once. Seeing the move in slow mode made it so much easier to see what the hell I was missing. I can now hit it constantly.
So Vergil came out on PS4 today and I don't have to drop money on a PS5 and DMC5 SE to play him now. And this video was randomly recommend to me. Today is a good dy
Well thanks alot i've managed only 2 jc in a row but your vid helps
How to cut 3 times in a row:
first of all, In a blender, add the pandan leaves and ¾ cup water. Puree on high speed until a loose paste forms, 5-7 minutes.
Set a fine mesh sieve in a small bowl and pour in the pandan puree; stir and press the puree to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the solids.
Lightly grease a 7-inch round cake pan with nonstick spray, then line the bottom with a circle of parchment paper. Lightly grease the top of the parchment round.
Fill a medium pot with enough water to reach 4 inches up the sides, then set a 9-inch bamboo steamer inside. Add the cake pan to the steamer, making sure the steamer and cake pan are completely level, then set the pot over medium heat (this will preheat the cake pan while you make the batter). Fill a kettle or second medium pot with water and bring to a simmer. In a large bowl, whisk the rice flour, tapioca starch, and arrowroot starch. In a medium bowl, use your hands to mix the coconut milk with the palm sugar until fully blended.
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in 2 cups of the coconut milk mixture. Mix thoroughly with your hands, kneading and squeezing, until the batter feels thick and gluey, about 5 minutes. Add the rest of the liquid in two batches, mixing thoroughly by hand each time.
Divide the batter into two large measuring cups or bowls (3 cups of batter per container). Add ½ cup of the pandan juice and the food coloring (if using) to one bowl and the jasmine tea to the other, stirring each mixture well.
Pour ¾ of a cup of the green batter into the preheated pan. Dry off the underside of the steamer lid (to avoid any water dripping into the mixture), then replace it, and cover the pan with a lid. Steam the first layer over medium heat until set, slightly translucent, and firm to the touch (it will still be slightly tacky), 8-10 minutes. Repeat the process with a layer of the white batter, cooking for 10-12 minutes. Continue steaming one layer at a time, alternating colors for at least 5 layers or as many as your pan can hold, ending with a pandan layer. Make sure each layer is thoroughly cooked before adding the next. Keep an eye on the water level and top it off from the simmering kettle as necessary. (The cooking time for each layer will increase slightly as the khanom chan gets thicker.) Remove the covered pan from the heat and let the khanom chan cool completely at room temperature.
Lightly grease a large plate with nonstick spray. Invert the khanom chan onto the plate but do not remove the cake pan. Wrap the inverted cake pan and plate tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
Unwrap the khanom chan and turn over the cake pan (the khanom chan will still remain inside). Use a sharp paring knife to loosen it from the sides of the pan, then carefully peel the cake out onto the plate or a cutting board. Use an oiled knife to slice the khanom chan into 1 ½ inch diamonds or squares. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Thank you so much
You’re welcome!
One of The few things DMC3 vergil and DMC5 boss vergil is better at
I don't know why they change the Judgement Cut command after 3. It was so simple there.
Ikr how is it so hard to implement multi JC as a moveset?
In DMC4SE it was insanely hard to do so this is fine.
They wanted the JUST JCs from... *pukes* DmC
i’ve finally learnt to do it consistently
for someone out there wondering that they can do either one of aerial perfect JC or ground perfect JC but not both:
The timing are slightly different. Ground perfect JC is slightly faster than aerial perfect JC.
Thank you
I'm having trouble executing back-to-forward inputs.. could you pls show your hand movements (instead of the system's) while showing the attacks having back-to-forward on L inputs?
How do you do the Atomic slash JC
Where he says Slay/Eliminate all??
locked on the enemy then forward + triangle and circle
requirements: lvl 2 concentration gauge and full SDT gauge
if on human mode it will consume all of the SDT gauge
if on SDT mode it will consume like 1/3 or 1/4 of the SDT gauge
The timing is exactly right before it sparkles by a hair, not as you see the sparkling. If you see the sparkling you fail.
Something really cool I found out is that every time he Sheaths the Yamato he gains progress to the DT gauge and in sin devil trigger form he will gain DT outright if you perform Yamato combo a if you let him finish the animation. anytime Virgil sheaths the Yamato he'll gain progress to dt it also includes any other combo with the Yamato as long as he sheaths it. also certain taunts as well it's a really cool feature
Just learned how to JCC in DMC4 a day ago
Now just waiting for DMC5 to go on sale on steam
How do I do the fadeaway JC stuff where he teleports diagonally downwards then JCs that I've seen a lot of people doing in their Vergil combos?
Basically I saw the input was JC into trick down, tried but didn't work
Basically to dominate the character you need to know about holding, releasing, concentration and not attack randomly.
Just like a Katana! I love the details of this game
See I am just now trying to master the mechanical aspects of vergil but for some reason whenever I do the air judgment cuts I can get all 3 but on the ground the most I can get is 2.
So I've been trying to master this move. To get the multiple judgement cuts you need to release as soon as the sheath glows after the first JC? Currently I can do 2 JC about one time in ten attempts with no one around, just me practising the move.
This helped
I can only do the perfect cut twice that timing is insane
THANK UUUUUUU
I got 5 in a row once after 3 and a half hours of practice I’m happy with that even tho it was accidental and I just went with it
I don't even have the game and if I did I would give up on trying to do the jc perfectly
Fuck this the only tutorial where i figured it out how to,THANKS
Thank you for this video, now i can do 4 on air, i still have problems to the ground tho
Like BloodMoonTalon, I'm waiting for him to drop on PS4. This'll definitely come in handy! With the hype for PS5 being what it is and trying to get a car and a house of my own, I've got more pressing matters haha
I think I can learn something about Vergil here
The 'Just Judgement Cut' mechanism in DMC5 SE and DMC4 SE is quite the same
Hold and release is perfect time
I learned how to Max-Act using Nero in DMC4 was from DMC5
JUST IN NEEED JUST IN TIIIIIMEEEE
